I think ITV showed the Udinese vs. Braga qualfier last season on ITV4.
Maybe it's any games involving British clubs have to be on ITV(1).

Due to the timeslot, it will be on ITV4.
And unless there are visa problems I fully expect Jon and Clarke to be there.

So still no Drury then? Is he going to be used less by ITV?

I very much doubt it's got anything to do with the timeslot, as you've mentioned that the regular schedule on ITV1 will attract more viewers. Are you really suggesting that if a big English club were kicking off at this time that the match would be shifted to ITV4?

I remember less than a year ago when the Poland v England qualifier was postponed due to rain, the match was rescheduled to the same timeslot (4pm UK time) yet this was still shown on ITV1, so the timeslot wasn't a problem then.

FC Metalist Kharkiv, disqualified from 2013/14 UEFA club competition on
Wednesday, have been replaced by PAOK FC with Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC qualifying for
the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Following today's decision of the UEFA Appeals Body to disqualify FC Metalist
Kharkiv from 2013/14 UEFA club competition, the UEFA Emergency Panel held a
meeting this afternoon.

The UEFA Emergency Panel, which is composed of five members of the UEFA
Executive Committee, decided to replace Metalist with PAOK FC for the remainder
of the 2013/14 club competitions.

As a consequence the Greek club, eliminated by Metalist in the third qualifying
round, will now face FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League play-offs
, with
the first leg to be played on 21 August in Germany.

This decision is final. Metalist have the opportunity to appeal to the Court of
Arbitration for Sport.

PAOK will not be replaced in the UEFA Europa League play-offs and their
opponents, Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC, thus qualify directly for the group stage.

ITV is not going to do a live Champions League game off tube. Commentators will be on site.

However equally, a Celtic game at 4pm on a weekday afternoon is never going to outrate Titchmarsh.
Was that the case for Karagandy v Celtic, as i have my reservations? Or was this another myth, just like the one you claimed about Sky using the lower gantry at White Hart Lane?

Wonder if ITV will pick Celtic's home game with Barcelona on Oct.1 over the English teams?

My prediction for ITV picks (obviously later matchdays will depend on the group standings):

MD1: Man Utd v Bayer Leverkusen
MD2: Arsenal v Napoli
MD3: Arsenal v Dortmund
MD4: Real Sociedad v Man Utd
MD5: Arsenal v Marseille (presuming Chelsea will already have qualified)
MD6: Bayern v Man City

That would mean ITV not showing Chelsea at all before Christmas, which isn't going to happen.

ITV has already picked its first two games:
Manchester Utd v Bayer Leverkusen
Celtic v FC Barcelona

I'd guess at Chelsea on MD3, City on MD4 and Arsenal on MD5, but those decisions won't be made until after MD2.

They look sensible to me - obviously by MD 5 and 6 it very much depends on any qualification issues. I suspect ITV would like to have Chelsea too if possible but I think Arsenal V Napoli and Arsenal V Dortmund are too good to let them go, and as you say it seems likely Arsenal V Marseille will be an important one at that point.

Surprised they've gone for Celtic. Surely they won't pass up on Arsenal v Dortmund as its one of the highlights of the group stages from an English point of view. I also expect Man Utd on MD4 as that may be the match which seals their qualification, whereas City's qualification/1st position is likely to go to the final matchday.

Since they hardly showed Arsenal at all last season it may be payback time!

Celtic v Barcelona is far, far more attractive than both the Arsenal and Chelsea games on MD2. Good choice from ITV.

Let's face it, Chelsea doesn't have any remotely appealing match, but I guess ITV will want to show all the British teams at least once anyway.

Yes. And Schalke, who haven't started well in the Bundesliga, is the best of the three Tuesday night games.

Thinking back to the CL rights it's interesting that in the group stages there isn't actually that much difference between 1st and 2nd pick.

Just look at the above posts with quite a divergence of view re what will / should be picked.

With ITV showing Celtic it means that 3 of the English teams will split Sky 5, ITV 1, with only one team (most likely Man U, though maybe not if ITV choose Man C on MD4) splitting 4:2 - unless anyone splits 6:0.

Of course once you get to the knock-out rounds the 2nd picks are worth hardly anything (unless 3 English teams make the QFs) but the contrast with the group stage is quite interesting.
