I tend to think the opposite. Once I saw the draw I thought 'ITV will want United first' and I think it works out well for them. United v Bayern is a big tie, and it will be get a huge rating for ITV. The first leg at OT will IMO get a bigger rating as the tie will be in the balance and United will have 90 minutes at home to give themselves a chance before the return leg in Munich. The fear is that Bayern turn up and do to United what they did to City at the Etihad and Arsenal at The Emirates and if they do the 2nd leg will be less of a 'must see' for the wider viewing public. So, 1st leg is the best one for ITV to get, with all the build up and atmosphere of a big night at OT.

Alternatively, I can see PSG-Chelsea still being in the balance going into the 2nd leg so I think the return game at Chelsea will be a big one, whereas the 1st leg may be a more cagey affair with both teams not wanting to take too many chances.

So, all in all I think ITV will be delighted with it. As a neutral though it's annoying as the 2 ties I'd want to watch (United v Bayern and Barca v Atletico) are on the same nights. But, that's the way it goes.

Exactly, ITV would hardly be happy with showing the second leg of the Man U match, especially as they will have had 4 goals put past them at OT and the match will be a procession.

My thinking is that as bad as Man Utd are, with the first leg at OT there's a chance the tie will still be in the balance, possibly thanks to a draw.

Lol as soon as Man U get to Germany the goals will fly in behind De Gea, not a chance it will be competitive.

To be honest, either leg of that tie would get a decent audience, so it doesn't really matter, whereas Chelsea are less of a draw for casual viewers so the decisive leg is the best to have.

This could quite conceivably be ITV's last visit to Old Trafford for a live Man Utd game for a long, long time...

Both legs of Barca v Atletico, both legs of Dortmund v Real, and the away games of Chelsea and Man Utd.

Hardly! That wouldn't be possible anyway considering some of those games will be happening on the same night and at the same time

Don't they only show one game each matchweek for starters and has it even been confirmed they'll be doing it for the QFs?

Yes but United will have to overtake Everton to qualify.

Given the choice, Sky would have chosen the 1st leg.

Bayern to win 4-0 was 16/1. 0-0 draw was 18/1. Says it all really!
