No they said 12 games and the English teams would be shown ONCE free. Seems pretty clear to me.

[EDIT] Apologies for repeating what has already been said.

Nissan signed their deal with UEFA after the rights were awarded to BT.

So long as the amount paid for the rights offsets the potential reduction in sponsorship, UEFA won't care.

Good point about the sponsors. But UK is only part of the global audience. Not sure how much a move from Sky and ITV to BT will affect those figures. I'm sure UEFA took that into account when selecting who won the rights.

Everyone said that when Sky took over the main rights and as far as ripping off the public well Sky don't do a bad job themselves, but at least come tonight you don't have to watch BT and say I haven't contributed to their pockets.

Personally im looking forward to see their coverage tonight, looks a decent set up and sorry I doubt very much it will be any inferior to Sky's coverage unless off course you dislike BT and their presenter's etc without giving it a chance.

That does NOT mean the competition is going to die on it's arse or cease to exist. As I said before, it's sensationalist nonsense to claim otherwise.

...and fuelled by nothing other than denial that Sky and ITV no longer have the rights to it.

Of course it'll be inferior. The only area where they are on par is in terms of the presenter. Gary Lineker is very good. The rest (Dark aside, although he is constantly dragged down by the oafs alongside him) leave a lot to be desired.

I refuse to pay for BT Sport on top of my Sky subscription to watch the Champions League. It will be interesting to see the ratings tomorrow and Thursday to see whether or not it was worth BT Sport spending bucket loads of money for the Champions League.

Yeah, James Richardson is hated on here...

Did I miss the memo about Sky Sports subscribers having to be quite so righteous?

It won't be ratings which defines whether it was worth it - but broadband sales and lowering the churn rate of those moving to Sky Broadband will be a better indication.

Lend me your time machine so I can travel forward a few hours and watch it. I'll report back with whether it's inferior or not.

JR isn't really getting a prominent role in the coverage, though.

I'm also a BTS subscriber by the way.

How do you know? Seen the coverage? Maybe the goals show team will be involved in the preview show?

The clowns who took issue with the Champions League being ruined by the Clare Balding audience clapping were wrong. What makes your guesses any more credible?

You don't spend the amount of money BT Sport have spent for exclusive Champions League rights for let's say 600k ratings. If ratings for the English clubs don't reach 1 million you can be sure BT won't be jumping for joy it will be Sky.

I do feel it is very bad of bt sports
to have all the live football and not itv it is a let down to just broadcast
highlights of the uefa champions league on itv and not live uefa champoins league on
itv they should share it out and let itv to broadcast live uefa champions league football one week live and week 2 back on to bt sport then back onto itv live that would be better now

Not only Darke to be fair, you will have Peter Drury, Simon Brortheron, Jonathan Pearce, Jon Champion, Adam Summerton, Derek Rae not to mention the Darren Fletcher fans to name just a few.

So taking just those names they easily match if not better the likes of Martin Tyler, Rob Hawthorne, Alan Parry, Bill Leslie Ian Crocker etc so there def not inferior at all.

Then you have Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey, Lydnesy Hipgrave Matt Simth, not that bad if you compare to Jeff Stelling, David Jones, Ben Sheppard and and.....thtas it?

No idea where to start with this. But don't blame BT, if you want to blame anyone blame UEFA who were happy to sell all of their live rights to a Pay-TV supplier for maximum commercial gain.

PS - punctuation can be your friend, release your inner comma!

Well, given that it's going to be almost entirely made up of the people that are involved in the PL coverage, I think it's fair to say that it won't be much better than that.

Lineker is a considerable improvement on Humphrey, but that's the only area that has been improved on since 2013.

Seems some people still think bt are chasing ratings. No. They are chasing people who will pay just to have the option of having the games not necessarily watching every week.

You are answering a different question to the one actually asked.

I asked how you knew that James Richardson wouldn't be prominent.

The honest answer is that you don't.

The honest answer is that you were jumping to ill-formed conclusions before the BT deal was even announced.

The honest answer is that you were one of those taking issue with the Clare Balding audience clapping while David James made his "point".

What makes your latest assumptions any more credible?

They certainly don't 'better' them. Rae, Champion, Darke and Brotherton are all very good, but the rest...

But, unfortunately, 3 of those 4 won't get anywhere near the main games, especially when the competition gets interesting from February.
