At least the British production team has the guts to acknowledge this on broadcast shows and attempt to discipline. The US team never broadcasts it or barely acknowledges it. It happens every year and not once has a House Guest been removed for comments like this. This year seems especially bad and I'm glad I gave up on it a few years ago.

That is a very unique thing right there , could that ever be seen as being funny ?

Racism is soooo stupid! Black, White, Red, yellow people and all the colors inbetween occupy this planet and have for millenia so I dont understand where its coming from.

If they were smart they would know that humanity actually started with BLACK skin! yes thats right...Black Skin! THATS A FACT!(they were called the sumerians)..which is why as you travel round the world you will find most people have some kind of color in them... except for the neanderthals who appeared much much later with straight hair and white skin.

It was black people who taught the neanderthals how to light a fire, how to cook and use spices and taught them that the pigs & goats live OUTSIDE the house, not inside!

So people need to get clued up on real history or run the risk of looking REAL STUPID AND IGNORANT!

Saying that, Color has no relevance to humanity, it only adds a richness to our human experience.
Racists are WEAK MINDED and when you dont know the truth or your own mind, you'll believe anything you're told.

not when you see what else was said in that same conversation...

Something like "I touched her meat wallet to see what i'm working with, I don't think she liked it..well she is on her period" or something along those lines

I know it stems from the one drop rule, after black slaves in the united states begun having biracial children. So in an effort to curb that, The one drop rule was passed in practice in the1800's and legally in 1910, thus making every biracial child black and thus a slave, but that was freaking 100 years ago, and this "one drop rule" is still going on.”

Even as recently as the 60's in some states it was illegal for a biracial person to marry a white person. That didn't change until the Supreme Court case Loving V. Virginia. In some Southern States there are still segregated high school proms. While great strides have been made there is still a long way to go when it comes to racism in the US. When major network shows like this do a shoddy job of covering it up instead of addressing it just adds fuel to the fire IMHO.

It's should be up to the person to identify with one or the other, and not automatically categorized as "black" based on some racist legislation which is still in effect in the US. it also undermines the presence of a biracial community, if ever one was desired.

Look at somebody like Tiger Woods, whose mother is fully asian, father multiracial ( black, native american, white) and is considered black.

Nobody is automatically categorized as black. Even on legal forms there is an option to choose other or multi. You seem to assume everyone who is mixed race has the identifier forced on them. The reality is anyone who has lived on a different continent for a few generations is mixed race. The only question is how far back it happens and how many times. How is negating the portion that is African as not being enough any different than those (very rare) individuals who suggest any trace is enough?

I don't know why anyone would want to watch such openly horrible people. At least our villains are kind of fun, usually.

Regardless of this nonsense, BBUSA is total garbage anyway. It's just bland - host, HMs, eviction style, and structure of the "game" they play. It being on the networks means its already whitewashed and watered-down to begin with. The ultimate plastic product.

Are you seriously implying that society at large do not consider visible bi-racial persons as "black".

But it begs the question - how many of BBUK's beloved would have remained that way if they weren't so strict about language in the house?

I've seen the term 'fag hag' used by quite a few gay Americans; I'm not sure that calling oneself one would be considered homophobic.

The rest of the comments are appalling.

There have been some comments on the live feed that suggest they were called in and reminded about how they appear to the public when they use racist language. Thing is, the comments are them mocking BB for bringing it up at all, because they see nothing wrong with what they've said.

As far as actual discipline, no - what they've said is not against the rules.

I've seen some of the clips of BBUSA and some of it is absolutely shocking stuff. Can we not send Gina over there for a few days. She'd sort them all out.

Which is why I never watch the US version which basically encourages horrible behaviour - any of the clearly bigoted people in the US house could win now. At least over here, the really horrible people tend to get some sort of comuppance. Or they're given 50k, one of the two

no never thought anything of the sort about Conor but it is a tactic used to smear someone's name if you don't' like them or are jealous of them.

I was watching feeds yesterday and Jeremy rubbed one of the girl's hats into his arse.

And this is a discussion with Jeremy and another housemate Spencer. (GM refers to another houseguest - GinaMarie who has been sacked from her job for racist comments)
Quote:
“Jeremy: This would be ideal, (GM) beats the **** out of Elissa, gets kicked out, Elissa has to go to the hospital and is out of the game.
Spencer: Harharhar, two for one.
Jeremy: Two for one, bro.
Spencer: Hehehehe
Jeremy: That would be ****ing amazing, dude... That would be ideal. Let's pray for that tonight.
Spencer: Yeah. Elissa wants to go home too.
Jeremy: We can put up Candace and Amanda. Is that just not, too perfect. It'd be too good to be true.
Spencer: Heeehehehehe.
Jeremy: Has that ever happened? Let's make history. Let's antagonize the shit out of that.

Jeremy: If you go to GMs, "GMs, beat the **** out of this girl, and I will make sure no producer comes in and stops you.
Spencer: Yeah.
Jeremy: We'll stand by the door and lock it. I promise, if you self-evict, you've got to beat her ass so you'll both go.
Jeremy (imitating GM): Alright dude, got you.
Jeremy: Or stab her, something.
Spencer: She'll probably take one of her high-heeled shoes and beat her to death with it.
Jeremy: That'd be ****ing awesome. Two for one, more like a three for one.
Spencer: I know, it really is.”

I'm done, I can't watch this season anymore. Most of these people are utterly terrible ... and that's a bloody understatement!

Americans seem a bit prudish about sex on their main channels, but I've noticed on their late-night TV shows they have a far more laissez-faire and tolerant attitude toward racial issues and insults - and that is applied across the racial spectrum.

Even they wouldn't have tolerated Conor's victimisation of Deana, though.
