Yes, the young and youthful X Factor audience will be on the edge of their seats waiting for a BBC crime drama, always their favourite genre of programming.

As a general rule, when X Factor finishes, the section of its audience that broadcasters want either goes over to ITV2 or switches off the TV and goes online or to a games console. Hence why that audience is so valuable.
ITV have given up chasing that and now focus on keeping the older but upmarket ABC1 portion to watch Downton Abbey.
Sherlock would dent that audience more than the young ones. And it would be an utterly pointless exercise.

You say this and to some extent I agree. I mean, she's bloody awful. But there's a reason she was there - it's because there is no obvious replacement for a 20 something British pop singer with personality and a high profile. Same as X Factor going with an older panel of Nicole and Sharon rather than anyone in their 20's.
And given the "brand image" of The Voice in the UK at the moment, their best hope might be to pick up the phone to Tulisa and make sure her trial dates don't clash with the live shows.
