Do you know something we don't?
That assumes "we" ie "all of you" know exactly the same as each other!

Im sure I know more than some of you, and less than others.

We don't know who's got what yet! This was always going to happen though no matter what. Of course the Pay TV companies would bid more.

itv to keep England friendlies, bbc to play junior parter to bt. more sport moves away from FTA - fantastic? Matter of opinion. Wont bother those with subs to the sports channels but clear that the bbc still sees making deals with pay operators as preferable to doing so with other FTA operators. That will ultimately be their death.
I wish BBC/ITV could work together to get some sports contracts. The problem is neither could come up with enough money to beat pay TV. Also the BBC deal will depend on what choice of games they get, but some football is better than no football.

ITV holding onto the England matches is something they'd value more than The FA Cup. Guaranteed good ratings there. Didn't realise those rights were split up in the deal though.

Come on George, don't be all bitter and miserable! Just check out the reaction on Twitter, this does appear to be a moment of national jubilation. It's a shame for you not to be a part of it.

The fact is the Cup better on the Beeb:
- a showcase on the nation's number one, most watched channel.
- highlights on the UK's premier, most watched, weekly football programme, Match of the Day.
- not just live coverage but in depth previews, reviews, features on Football Focus, the nation's most popular sports magazine show.
- full coverage on the most watched Saturday afternoon results programme, Final Score.
- full coverage on the UK's most popular sports website.
- coverage on the nation's most listened to sports radio station, 5 Live.

Surely you can see the positives George???

I agree but Gorge is worried because BT could very likely have just won 1st pick matches. To be honest 2nd pick matches are not that bad.

But this is great news for BBC sport who need's some live football really badly. I like their coverage as well.

More of the biggest live games not available to FTA viewers. Doesnt worry me. I have the full Sky package. Enjoy your radio, internet updates and highlights!

On a side note the BBC obviously isnt as broke as they claim. These rightds plus the 1,000 manager payoffs, plus the cost of Savile obviously mean they were crying wolf all along.

More details and a promotional picture of 'That Puppet Game Show' have been revealed :-

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...s-picture.html

The more I think about it the more it does sound to me like trash that typically appears on ITV2, only perhaps slightly higher-brow, and with famous people who the public are known to like (Freddie Flintoff, Katherine Jenkins) as opposed to nobodies from The Only Way Is Essex. Will be very interesting indeed to see how it's scheduled.

This statement is baffling? itv had 1st and 4th picks under the current deal. What do you mean - some sort of rigged draw?
There's nothing baffling about my statement, generally ITV's deal for FA cup had seen them get a worse deal than BBC's deal.

The current deal does give ITV first pick, but I remember previous deals where they've had to pay second fiddle to Sky (which BBC didn't)

Are we all forgetting how terrible the BBC's football coverage has been of late?

Its hardly the epitome of greatness

It's by the Jim Henson people, not sure that's ITV2 fodder.

We'll see, could be ghastly, could be okay. Saturday night TV needs something that can appeal across all ages, and isn't a blasted singing/dancing show.

You see I quite like the sound of it. It's risky and it's different.

Guaranteed good . ratings?

Some England matches on ITV have played out to less than 4m!

They thought they had a banker when BBC1 was getting 11m for friendlies against Switzerland, but ITV have never matched that.

Just like they never get 10m for the likes of Exeter City home games in the Cup.

There's nothing baffling about my statement, generally ITV's deal for FA cup had seen them get a worse deal than BBC's deal.

and (picking up on George's post yesterday) bbc1ista public sector health & safety officials and police officers who wouldn't let itv show all their Man United games in Saturday and Sunday primetime.

Danny Baker I think is involved in the writing for it.

So it could be good.

I think ITV coverage isn't as bad as some say. Don't mind the BBC's coverage either. Sky is better than both to me though.

If BT broadband have first pick of the FA Cup games, then at least it will mean the FA Cup terrestrial coverage won't exclusively involve Man United and Liverpool, like it did with ITV, even if BBC1 would probably have taken a more "football focused" view of its selections anyway than Clive's lot.

Although it's perfectly possible that the nation's foremost broadband salesman, Jake Humphrey, has it in his contract that if the FA Cup is acquired, their first picks will involve Norwich...

I think GeorgeS is narked that his chances of getting prawn sandwich tickets for Old Trafford are limited now to Champs League fixtures (when Man U are still in it), and he'll have to get BT broadband to watch the Reds on the telly....

He was, but only for the non-broadcast pilot I believe. Still, I am looking forward to it. It's original, brave, and looks like good fun. I'm guessing it will air Saturdays preceding Strictly?

I'm still confused as to how you can have a better pick than 1st?

What have I been missing all my life?

Everton vs Oldham - 5th Round last season - 1st Pick on itv ignoring Man Utd vs Reading.

I suppose latte drinking, social climbing north west solicitors only recognise these places on days when the courts are sitting?

Competitive England qualifiers still generate good ratings. To get those matches as well is good business for any broadcaster. I think when Dyke was at the BBC he really helped to boost The FA Cup with putting some matches in primetime. ITV followed the BBC plan.
