why has itv morphed into bbc2 recently?

with its endless documentaries that barely rate 2 million.

To think it was once the nations main entertainment channel- and to see the sorry state its in now is very sad.

So the poor scheduling cost The Apprentice final at least 1 million viewers. A costly mistake.

Nice to see Big Brother holding on as much as they can to the controversy ratings. Last night got 1.60m including +1.

Another drop for Run, now under 900k excl +1.

Some good news for the Beeb and ITV, and UK football fans - the European Court has ruled against UEFA and FIFA in support of the World Cup and Euros being free to air.

Good news, although legally dodgy I think.

My wife didn't realise it started at 8pm until around 8.40pm (and the regular series link disappeared too!!).

Set it to record from then, watched the first 40 mins on iPlayer (handy service that) until she caught up and then switched to Sky+.

because its widening its output to include more intelligent factual?

At least itv has largely veered away from the tabloid factual of 500lb testicles or most shocking when buildings fall down of the other commercial terrestials.

Another Channel 4 show which is a victim of poor scheduling.

Shame you've already spent your budget on half empty luchtime games in January being played by the reserve teams of Premier League sides

I expected across the week, for Run to average around 1.7m incl +1. I hear from people that it is really good.

Dont see this as a bad thing, they are certainly better documentaries than C4 have made in recent years, enjoyed the workhouse series, and how the north was built, and the Zoo is pretty good to.Think ITV should be congratulated on making decent intelligent documentaries of late.

Indeed - a real own goal! I'm not sure why the BBC insisted on the two-hour slot, but if they were determined to do so they should have put in on Sunday as in previous years.

Have you seen ITN News lately?

I guess with BGT and TXF on breaks, there has been a bit more focus there lately on proper news....

Still, bad enough for Reggie and Sandy to turn in their graves.

BBC News

I dunno, it is the European Court.

It's hard to feel sorry for FIFA with Sepp Blatter in charge, great news for UK sports fans (and various pub chains)

Does anybody have the rating for the premiere of Ray Donovan on Sky Atlantic at 10pm on Tuesday?

Channel 4 seem to utterly abuse 'stripped scheduling'. It worked for BBC and ITV because it was trailed well and was built up to be an event, and didn't happen very often.

However Channel 4's 10pm scheduling has seen Shameless, Dates and now Run on different days. Why did they not do:

- Tuesday (10pm) - Shameless
- Wednesday (10pm) - Dates
- Thursday (10pm) - Run

To give one example? Burning off a 5 part series in a week does not make any sense whatsoever for a station like Channel 4.

Also, in weather like this, if you miss one day for whatever reason, you may just be tempted to wipe the entire series off the planner. At least weekly, there is time to catch up.

It talks about what the average guy in the street cares about. Not what some Guardian reading, latte drinking, toffee nosed, metrosexuals, think they should be interested in.

PS Sandy is still alive!

Anyone got the TOTP 1978 ratings from BBC4 last night?
Thanks in advance.

Indeed. As much as I support FTA World Cup/EC, I can see why UEFA/FIFA argued for their 2 crown jewels being able to generate them more money

Just in terms of decent coverage a Sky/BBC or Sky/ITV (I'm not holding out too much hope for BT's coverage) combo would be nice

That's a good start. I vaguely followed CW since last year. However, I might start giving CW a chance again, since these new programmes you mentioned looks miles better than before. If done right, they can make a good comeback.

It is very good and easily their best drama in a long time.

A victim of poor scheduling... I would never have expected it to average 1.7 million across the 4 nights though, maybe it it was 1 a week.

2.1 million for 24 hours in A&E, fantastic rating

Big Brother down 200k from yesterday, big drop but 1.6 mill is still good... I expect it to level back off to its usual now the Daley situation is finished

Awful for the Apprentice, I tuned in at 9 and was raging!!

Reign is bound to flop...
The 100 is a mid-season replacement ...

Carrie Diaries got a pity renewal, Nikita has 6 episodes left...
BatB didn't do much better then Secret Circle after Vampire Diaries, and its got to stand on its own next season, and I think will flop...

Who's Line is it Anyway was adjusted up in the finals to 1.2 in the demo with 2.99 million viewers...

Digiguide, TV listings mags, EPG's, BBC Promotion all advertised an 8pm start. I don't understand why people didn't know it was on at 8pm. I use EPG's regularly, I'm sure you do to. I admit though, it was daft to put it on at 8pm. I would have rescheduled The White Queen for last night and put the two hour Apprentice on Sunday like it normally is!
