The Apprentice should have gone out on Sunday at 9pm. The 8pm weekday start caught some people out as well as losing a few viewers to good weather. Also You're Hired always drags the rating for the final down. Bad scheduling.

Speaking of bad scheduling, somebody needs to have a word with Channel 4 about stripping dramas. It doesn't always help them. Some dramas would benefit more from a weekly outing.

I am surprised how well the ratings are holding up across the board despite the incredible weather we are experiencing.

I read an interesting (yet bias) article from someone at Netflix basically saying linear TV is on the way out, something I do not agree with. Viewing is more fragmented as there are more FTA channels than ever before, but it is certainly not being watched by less people than in previous years.

If BBC1 can attract 1 out of every 10 people in the country to watch The Apprentice between 8-10pm - (even though their scheduling seemed to cause some confusion) - I think these ratings threads still have a long time to run. Linear TV even managed to get 1 in every 4 people in the UK to watch the Wimbledon final on a sunny Sunday afternoon. This is some achievement.

So overall, considering the above average weather we are currently having, I think it is encouraging the 5 main channels are managing to post healthy "as live" viewing figures across the board.

I remember a recent report from Ch4 stating that their new drama's would be scheduled as 9pm events (can not find the link now). They vowed not to push them to 10pm. Not only have they gone back on this idea, they stripped one of their bright new drama's across a hot week in July where if you miss one episode, you probably will not tune into the next one as you have zero time to catch up via 4OD!!!???!!!

I think BBC2, Ch4 and Ch5 should all avoid the 9pm zone with new British Drama which BBC1 and ITV1 have sown up. Opposite the News bulletins, and not stripped across one week seems to be the best place for them IMO. Ch4 seem to have wasted RUN the way they have stripped it. Mondays at 10pm would have been the best place for it, and it may have held onto the ratings it achieved this Monday.

The only linear TV we watch is live sport and news. Everything else is either Sky+ or On Demand.

Currently watching the cricket on Sky and the golf on iPlayer.

So the BBC stupid scheduling damaged the Apprentice final figures. Love to no what idiot thought starting it at 8pm was a good idea. Still loved this series of the Apprentice hopefully next years will be just as good.

Btw are there any soap ratings please thanks.

Don't think think they'd be able to show dramas with the C word before 10pm.

You say that but two of the biggest non ITV/BBC1 drama hits have been on BBC2 at 9pm. Line Of Duty and The Fall. The Fall managed 2m in overnights opposite Britain's Got Talent. Some Channel 4 dramas aren't matching that in consolidated ratings. And 3m+ in official ratings rarely happens for 10pm Channel 4 dramas.

Sounds like you're still upset that you won't be seeing as much of Andy Townsend next season.

Get over it, George - you're better than him.

Terrible shame - I've found it absolutely gripping, (although yes, I've had to do a lot of Sky+ juggling)

If a show on ITV got its third lowest audience of the series for a FINAL, no matter the slot, we wouldn't be seeing that kind of response.

What a day Sunday on telly COULD have been...
The Ashes, Open golf final round, British winner of the Tour De France (later twilight finish this year), and then relax whilst watching The Apprentice Final and You're Hired.
Missed opportunity.

Thanks.

Quite poor, even by Sky Atlantic's standards, considering the amount it was trailed. Was expecting double that, at least.

Better than Andy Townsend or me?

I won't argue with the former. But then who isn't better than Andy Townsend?

Good.

Froome has destroyed everyone else, and if you consider the Kenyan whinger British, then his win on Sunday (with the likelihood of the sort-of-British man from an island in the Irish Sea winning the stage again) will be one of the standout British sporting performances of the summer, even with an Argentina supporter winning Wimbledon for Britain at last.

Accordingly, it is only right that millions will tune in on Sunday to see it on one of the major network channels.

Oh, hang on....

Anyone know whether this year's BB set to be the best rated "civilian" series for Channel 5? It's been by far the most entertaining of the three anyway.

no Argentina supporter has won Wimbledon recently, don't let internet lies and misinformation get in the way of a good dig

Channel 4 has picked up the rights to The Taste, the non-derivative foody version of The Voice. The 10-part series will feature 3 of the US judges, including Nigella Lawson.

I think this is a good move by C4, but I remember Jay Hunt saying she wouldn't buy The Voice because it was derivative. Is this finally an admission that she doesn't know what she's doing?

It rated quite well in the US and got comissioned for a second season ... I wonder what kind of slot it will get, presumably 8pm?

Well it's certainly well on course to beating last year, if it's not doing so already. Probably still a bit to find with BB12 but not beyond the realms of possibility that that gap could be closed as well. I'll try and do a more concrete comparison nearer the end of the series when more data is available.

This could be a very very smart buy indeed. It's got all the credentials required to be C4's next big hit IMO.
