Thank you for the BB ratings. Decent, just behind the first eviction and beat all the others. Rounds off an impressive week for them by averaging 1.53m for Week 5. 110k higher than Week 4 and over 150k-200k higher than Week 2 and 3.

I would assume it's one every week, leading up to the newer films considering it's pilled as "Harry Potter season". So, I would guess the schedule looks like this (if the films do stay on Saturdays):

20th July - Philosopher's Stone
27th July - Chamber of Secrets
3rd August - Prisoner of Azkaban
10th August - Goblet of Fire
17th August - Order of the Phoenix
24th August - Half-Blood Prince
31st August - Deathly Hallows – Part 1
7th September - Deathly Hallows – Part 2

I think they'll push the last few films back a bit more to coincide at the X Factor live shows.”

Do ITV have all 8 films now then?

Bit low for an eviction though, ain't it?

Pretty sure it's either 2nd or 3rd highest BB eviction rating on Ch5 for a regular series, so no.

Sky's exclusive contract for the whole set has now finished. The only one still available is Deathly Hallows Part 2.

If it gets 1.5m for a week night show, then surely the friday eviction would pull in at least 2m?

This series is (or was before this last week) getting 1.4m for the HLs on average and 1.5m for evictions. The last 2 BBs were getting around 1.2m-1.3m for HLs and around 1.4m for evictions.

No Ch5 regular eviction has got over 1.83m overnights. Officially though, they have. Sallie's eviction (first evicted this series) got 2.20m officially.

Last nights 1.62m will be around 1.92m when time shifts.

ITV would be best off holding both parts of the Deathly Hallows back, possibly running them the two empty Saturdays once The X Factor has finished, assuming it's done by the 8th December once again. They should hold up well enough against Strictly I'd have thought.

I gues Sky's exclusive Bond contract comes to an end soon - ITV haven't really missed them and presumably get them back by the end of the year. In fact it's probably been a benefit to them, and ITV seem to be making good use of the Friday night slot for films at the moment. I don't get really why they don't pull The Americans from Saturday (burning it off at 11.35pm one night) and have a 10pm movie there too.

I've alway thought they should show it New Years Eve and NYD rather than a week apart or on a Saturday and Sunday either in December or January.

I imagine if Bond does return to ITV then I think they'll likely have another Bond season showing the first 22 films as I think they wouldn't be able to show Skyfall until 2015.

Advertising wise they'd want to get them on air before Christmas when revenues are high rather than after Christmas when they are low.

Whether it's better for ITV to show both parts a week (or even a day) apart or air them a few months apart (say one before the XF live shows begin, one after) I don't know.

As for the summer scheduling - filler they might be but can't see people wanting to sit and watch a three hour mid-afternoon movie with the weather as it is.

P.S. Love the new C4 Paralympic trailer - quite a refreshing approach to promoting sport:

Not a great day for C4 on the day they get beaten comprehensively by Five:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-turn-off.html

Also makes it in The Sun says:

Can they turn it around?

Channel 4 is a shadow of its former self. No comedy on a Friday night? Back in the day, they would have had Friends, Frasier, South Park, Adam & Joe,.... Now all they have is Four Rooms, which is tedious to say the least and should be a More 4 show, and two (TWO!) showings of the same Million Pound Drop shite.

Channel 5 seem to be going from strength to strength. Some of their factual entertainment programming is rating in the millions on a regular basis now. They always targeted beating channel 4 for share, and they are achieving this regularly now due to better programming, and channel 4 going stale. Next challenge is to overtake bbc2.
For me, it has never been a better time for channel 5 to start commissioning some original comedy and drama to enhance their growing popularity.

Interesting to see the media are starting to pick up on C4's appalling figures. Hopefully Jay Hunt gets her just desserts.

Well if her just desserts are a hundred thousand pound bonus and no sign of her P45 there's a good chance she will.

P.S. We know Sunday Brunch rates quite well but how do Saturday mornings rate now compared to T4 Saturday?

This is the problem - C4 used to synonymous with high quality US imports, and also used to have very strong 'blocks' of programming e.g. comedy on a Friday. There's no discernible flavour to the schedule in any way these days, and C4 is much poorer as a result.

Channel 5 now pulling ahead of Channel 4. Surely a shake up is needed and some new programming instead of the same tired shows and shows about medical freak conditions.
I know some people on here look down on Channel 5, but a supposed low rent channel with apparently nothing on is becoming the fourth channel. A revamped BB, the Aussie hour, American crime dramas, decent factual and classic films seem to be getting the viewers.

Twitter is spreading news about Mel Smith (of Smith and Jones fame) which is NOT being confirmed on BBC or Sky, so tread carefully.

Why mention it then? Not ratings related.

Almost a relief to see the rumours are what they are considering what most Twitter rumours about 70s/80s celebs have been over recent months. It could just be someone messing with Wikipedia though.
