If he starts at like 5:30pm, how long do you think it will go on for? Are we looking for it to clash with EastEnders and they need to move it to BBC2?
You'll be looking at at least a couple of hours for a straight sets win. My gut feeling is that it won't be as easy as that.

Your saying New tricks only appeals to the old? Well DA is hardly down with the kids is it.
Actually i think you'll find it certainly is popular with the younger as well as the older demographic.

Dreadful ratings across the board last night at 9 it seems good rating for Paul o Grady again though which is good ratings will fall further this weekend even more I reckon with this hot spell on the way
Erm might a certain Scotsman in the Wimbledon men's final disprove this, well on Sunday afternoon anyway.

Downton would massacre New Tricks. NT isnt appointment to view, unless you are in an old folks home
Plus of course New Tricks will be repeated on primetime BBC1 about 10 times, whereas Downton Abbey will be repeated on primetime ITV err never!

Anyway this whole line of conversation is poor even based on Samuels low standards.

The figure for Waterloo Road was beyond poor, it seems people have now just given up on it, a major storyline can't even bring it to life.

It's a conversation between some of the most biased posters in this thread, of course it's poor.

Moving back to ratings, I think we can expect not only a great peak for Murray later but, given the quality of the current match between Djokovic and Del Potro, a great average figure as well.

Thank god there's an archive on this thread - it's taken me almost an hour to conjure up these stats (and I think the peaks may not be exactly correct) but at least I tried.
Corrie would be third in the top 5 peaks chart if its average is 10.4m.

If we could get hold of it's peak, then yes. But we cannot.

Sort of undermines your recurring argument that BBC1 will get a decent sized default audience however poor the programme.

BBC would be stupid to move it against the tennis when it's already at fairly low ratings. The best thing would be for tennis to run to 8pm to give a strong lead in for EE. Maybe even continue until 9pm, that way no clash with any other major show.

If it hypothetically did run for that long, would they delay or just cancel regional news? I suppose they could just extended the late broadcast (or move it to before the News at Ten too).

My recurring argument Generally applies when programming is new/throwaway and up against equally new/throwaway programming elsewhere.

Waterloo Road is neither new and isn't supposed to be throwaway.

When DA has competition, it becomes "appointment to record and watch later without ads", and gets beat, even by a failing crisis soap that is about to get axed.

So I wouldn't count your chickens, not your unaggregated overnight ones anyway!

Tennis looks good for a 11m peak tonight, unless the Scots whinger gets pulverized. At this rate the match won't start till after 6. Em and CS could be crushed. And CS could be on against a delayed EE.

Don't they have to run regional news because they are the PSB?

I can see them doing the regional news at 8:30, EastEnders at 9:00 and Miranda at 9:30, although I'm basing that on it being a 3 sets victory.

I can see this being one of the latest BBC1 Wimbledon finishes we've seen on a WEEKDAY unless anyone can remember any others.

Good that pretty much the entire schedule including Graham Norton is all filler tonight that can be dropped in a heartbeat.

ITV1
17:00- ITV Regional News: 1.8 (12.6%)
17:15- ITV News & Weather: 2.0 (13.4%)
17:30- Primeval: 1.6 ( 9.7%)
18:25- You Cannot Be Serious!: 1.4 ( 7.8%)
18:55- Best of You've Been Framed!: 2.0 (10.7%)
19:25- Superstar: 3.0 (14.9%)
20:25- Let's Get Gold: 1.7 ( 8.0%)
22:00- ITV News & Weather: 1.6 ( 7.7%)

When you look at last years schedule for ITV Saturday, it really shows how well 'Your Face Sounds Familiar' did. It beat Superstar which was promoted heavily, more-so than YFSF.

The latest ever Wimbledon finish was 11:02pm last year on a Monday night for Murray's fourth round match. Merton Council has a curfew of 11pm so it was really cutting it fine!

My bad - that was a Saturday! I do remember a weekday match going on post-10pm though.

ITV had like 2 programmes over 3m on Saturday, one pushing 4m so it puts those ratings into context. It'd be nice to see YSFS increase even more and be a surprise hit for ITV, a bit like BGT was back in 2007, but only time will tell.

Really hope either Murray or EE is not on at 9pm against Big Brother. Talk about awful for them.

Hoping Murray can finish by 8:30pm, show EE at that time, and all done by 9pm.

Some of us predicted a 8-9m peak for the match on Wednesday and it came out with 10m. Maybe we could be looking at 12-13m for tonight, and a spectacular share?

With Murray's match likely to being very much in its infancy by 6pm, I wonder if they might run the news as scheduled, returning to BBC1 at 7pm?

Channel 5's latest workplace based ob-doc Nurses starts in week commencing 22nd July. Didn't realise this before but it's 8 episodes. Quite a big commitment for them for a new factual show, most are 4-6. Possibly airing on Monday nights at 9pm but not confirmed yet.

Also that week: Love/Hate (delayed by a week but still airing Wednesdays at 9pm) and Botched Up Bodies (series 2).
