If Murray is starting on BBC2 anyway, why bother shortening the national and regional news?

It's almost as if they want people to complain!

He's not - they're switching back at 18:30.

I'm still holding out hope that the Sherlock repeat (with its new episode title clue) will still run on BBC1 on time if we get a straight sets thrashing.

Really hoping Murray doesnt choke today. Lots of pressure and expectancy on him to perform. Huge amount of money bet on him, his own personal aspirations of winning SW19 as well as ratings are on stake dependent on him winning, he needs to do it. Fingers crossed.

I personally don't like Murray. I am Italian and don't really support British sports people (I did for the Olympics though), I don't understand why people like him when he has been clear that he doesn't even like English people and isn't doing it for the country. I guess it's because Scotland is the closest thing to being English. I think he is dull and unlikeable, whereas Novak, Delpotro are both likeable. Don't get me started on Murray's girlfriend and mother.... they always look depressed or bored.

What planet you on Samuel she was a ONE HIT WONDER - she disappeared off the planet - good god she is a bad presenter and us in Scotland had to cope with her twang I could understand if she had LOADS of songs out but she only had ONE HIT and then floated on to Clyde 1 and then to be flogged to death on STV!

They should've just competed directly with ITV and had regional news at 6pm followed by national news at 6.30pm on BBC2.

He puts me off when he's playing, he's just really peculiar looking. He'll only be British until he's eliminated though. Then he'll be Scottish again.

I don't like Murray either because although he's undoubtedly very talented, he lacks the likeability, charisma and personality of other top tennis stars. Normally I don't root for him apart from Wimbledon as it would be great to finally see a Briton win it. It's been a long time coming and murrays got the potential to do it.

22:00 (or later) - BBC News at Ten

Is now the likely schedule. I suspect they will delay the start of Murray's game by five or ten minutes so it starts at about 18:33, would make sense.

Either way, EastEnders is definitely going to be bumped to BBC Two here.”

Good news

The worst part is, in an advertisement I saw last night, it was spelt "The Incredible Hulk Women".

That's total and utter rubbish and its boring having it brought up every year.

Tim Henman has admitted it was all a joke(who he said it to), after he slagged off Scotland never qualifying.

Who cares if he's not hugely charismatic, he plays tennis, he's not an entertainer. He's a world class sports star who our country should be so proud of, and thankfully the majority are

Some very complicated scheduling decisions today!

BBC Two showed a 10 minute filler at 5.50, so they were preparing for the News to be on 2, with the conclusion of Del Potro-Djokovic on 1.

Presumably they also decided at some point to have just a 10 minute regional bulletin, and I reckon this would of been scheduled in between the 2 matches (if the Djokovic match had carried on after 6). This could of led to the Regional News on 1 and the National News on 2 though, so possibly in those curcumstances the regional teams would of had to wait until after Murray.

I'd imagine there will be a longer Regional bulletin (20 minutes?) at 10.25.

No - it's actually a critically acclaimed, incredibly eye opening documentary which I caught on Netflix a couple of weeks ago. It's ashame that most will write it off as cheap, trawdy factual because it's actually the opposite and is in fact a very good buy for Channel 5

No idea. It does moderately against some prgrammes, and collapses against others.

I'd have thought July/August would have been ideal for ITV to sneak out Vera on Sunday evenings. I think it'll struggle if they're saving it for Wednesdays in the autumn.

Another advantage of the 3D coverage. They're using the World feed, so you don't see Murray's bloody mother after every shot!!

How did I know you'd be wetting yourself with excitement tonight. Fantastic game earlier which should rate well, partly because it was brilliant and partly because people would have been tuning in waiting for Murray.

The BBC made exactly the right call with the news and things couldn't have worked out much better for them (other than convincing Wimbledon to hold Murray back for a 6.30pm start). Only complaint is they switched from BBC2 to BBC1 in the middle of a game - surely they could have waited a couple of minutes so viewers could switch mid game.

Anyhow, expecting a peak of 6-7m or so towards the end of the 5pm hour, then an average of 9-10m for the Murray match. What will be interesting is what they do with EastEnders. The match will almost certainly still be going at 8pm so it's a gamble between bumping it to BBC2 or hoping the tennis finishes by 9.30pm at the latest to air it on BBC1. From a ratings point of view though they'd like the tennis to go on to 10pm.

More like no news. Did the BBC really have to cut the teatime news? They could have had the news hour as normal then returned to the Murray match at 7pm. It's not as though they haven't got an alternative high up on the EPG where they could have put the tennis (ie. where it was scheduled already) and there was no way Murray was going to win within the hour. It just seems very clumsy and unnecessarily complicated for me considering the alternatives they had.

EDIT: Reading Brekkie's post above, that's typical Ratings Thread. One agreeing with a decision followed by one disagreeing with it.

It looks like EastEnders will follow on 1 as Coast is now scheduled for 8pm on BBC2

No point in any press coverage until the show returns in the spring.

They're scheduling per junction because they're not 100% sure when the Murray match will finish. If it's still going on at 8pm EastEnders will either be switched to BBC Two or put back.
