God, you really are a strange individual. Do you get orgasmic at the prospect of a good BBC1 rating? It is a strange, strange obssession of yours. Really it is.

10.56m (48.9%).

The tennis should beat Britain's Got Talent in the overnights considering how it rated last year. The official figure could be more interesting.

And 6m people turn off BBC1!

Wonder actually if Big Brother could benefit as much as it would have been hurt from the tennis finishing midway through. Presumably the Safe House fix will play out in the last 15 minutes after EastEnders any way.

Yep, think its great when BBC gets huge ratings as it justifies the licence fee. Proves to the critics the licence fee is more than worth it and long live the BBC .

So, has EastEnders aired later than 21:45 before? Steve Williams, where are thou?

Stupid BBC1, not a single announcement that EE is on now!

Still, if only 5m watch, we know why...

So if Wimbledon 2013 on BBC1 beats Britain's Got Talent on ITV. What in your world does that signify, please tell us?

Since when has any tennis had 'post match analysis'?

It means Wimbledon is the most popular show of the year so far. A few years ago 11million for Wimbledon would not have been enough to beat BGT so I suppose it also signifies that BGT has lost steam in the last couple years and is no longer the cultural phenomenon it used to be, according to ratings.

And a soap takes precedence over the news. On the BBC. Bizarre.

A chat between Sue and the commentators? or between Sue and her studio guests? Happened frequently during the championships.

I would have preferred to stay in South West London for a bit longer than be dumped in the horror of East London!

No it doesn't.

You really are an odd individual.

Games on BBC2 do, and the French Open managed it despite the ad breaks. After today's events there was more than enough to discuss in the 15 minutes leading up to the news.

P.S. Just noticed on Digiguide that the build up on Sunday is billed as a separate show, with the final itself billed as beginning at 1.50pm.

What I said is correct. If Wimbledon gets more viewers than the bgt final, it means its the most watched show of the year so far. How is that wrong?

Some people might still think of it as Christmas but I'm sure there was an Eastenders on a New Years Eve at 11.30 back in the 80's

I think EastEnders wont benefit all that much from following Wimbledon. The exit of Tayna didn't make much difference to the overnight figures following the last Murray match. This os definately something the producers should consider and plan for if they are to recover viewers. Perhaps a strong murder plot over next years wimbledon if Andy Murray is still in fine form in order to replicate the success of Britians Got Talent and Coronation Street block week.

err the rest of it about it meaning that BGT is 'no longer a cultural phenomenon' if Wimbledon gets more viewers than it.

Presumably when the World Cup beats everything next year that will mean that Strictly is no longer a cultural phenomenon?

Yep my EPG says -
12.50 Wimbledon 2013: Men's Final Build Up
1.50-6.00 Wimbledon 2013: Men's Final

Danny Cohen said, somewhere I can't remember, that he thinks that the BBC sometimes places too much emphasis on the News always having to start at 10. Perhaps now he's even more senior and overseeing all of TV he's exerting his influence.
