I'm sure its cheap enough to produce etc.... if it wasn't channel 4 wouldn't commission so many episodes as it does...the ratings have been down for a long time now for the show.
As if today's Wimbledon ratings weren't already going to look flat after yesterday and Wednesday, the Women's final just now was one of the most uncompetitive Grand Slam finals you're ever likely to see, and Bartoli had match points in little over an hour. They now have to fill BBC One until 6pm, and Two until 8pm, with doubles matches. Won't be pleasant reading for the Beeb in the morning.

Only one rating I can find for Phoneshop on E4, the opener of the most recent series (2011) was 190k.

Yeah, for example they gave away £100,000 last night and £125,000 on 22 June. And that's before you start on production costs, which will be higher as it is live.

Definitely. Channel 5 will do their best with the highly restrictive highlights contract, but The Ashes are virtually invisble now.

Remember that Wimbledon coverage at weekends used to air under the Grandstand banner and as Sunday Grandstand used to be on BBC2 then the Wimbledon final was on BBC2. A far cry from today.

It was always on BBC2 in those days. The women's final went out on BBC1 as part of Grandstand.

Speaking of sports ratings, I really hope there's a half decent number for today's staggering Tour de France stage on ITV4. Great drama, a brilliant finish, and a British rider with a British team putting the best in the world to the sword. great viewing. Sadly, I imagine it'll get lost among the Wimbledon and Lions talk.

Trouble with test match cricket is it's a massive commitment for any broadcaster and apart from the final Ashes test, interest is minimal and ratings are low. I very much doubt the BBC would be interested in taking on this contract again, even if it had the money, as it also interferes with Wimbledon and the Open.
Hardly any point commenting on the soaps, all either out of sync or facing unusually high competition from the tennis. I don't see how anyone can start claiming negative things about any of them. They held up respectably considering. Apart from Hollyoaks, which seemed to practically half its audience...
Still, normal service from Monday.
Million Pound Drop always seems low for what is quite a fun, if entirely dumbed down, live quiz show. Except then you look at the rest of C4 and it seems like a star...
What are we expecting from tonight? Will anything go over 4 million? I'm hoping "Your Face" is no lower than 3, hopefully around 3.5. Quite enjoyable for what it is and the whole random aspect adds a lot of fun to it. A shame Emmerdale girl wasn't stuck with Justin Bieber mind just for sheer "WTF" TV. If it wasn't such great weather I could see the show remaining pretty stable or even growing a little. But I doubt that tonight.

Ratings indeed dropped overall when it moved to C4, despite the high figures for the climax to C4's final Test Match, but the Saturday and Sunday afternoon coverage of Tests (against any side), and county cricket, was often number one in the BBC2 Top Ten in the 1980s and 1990s.
