Your Face is a reasonably entertaining show, but I am still bemused as to why they paid for a show that is basically Celebrity Stars in their Eyes with a couple of tweaks. Instead of doing some tweaks to their own show.

They could not be accused of a rip off as Stars in their Eyes is decades old. And could have done it differently enough - eg getting the audience to vote who each one should be, dropping the bottom celeb each week etc.

It is like the BBC not tweaking Come Dancing ten years back to create Strictly and instead buying another similar dancing format.

Just seems needlessly unambitious and lazy.

Unexpected present from the ratings gods. I guess they will now keep it at 10pm on Saturdays for the rest of the series.

Seen so many tweets from people saying they're watching the tennis on their iPads/tablets/mobiles in the garden.

BARB have to start reporting these people ASAP! There will be plenty more in pubs too, so the figure we get tomorrow morning does need a health warning attached - the real, true number of people watching will be higher.

5% share for a channel that should be averaging about three times that and it's a "good" result ?

What would a bad result look like !

They need to do more of that with sporting events. It shuts up the cries of "Oooh, low for xxx , so let's allow it to be shown on Sky Sports instead."

BARB don't count live iPlayer views do they? Even without it, the average may well still be above last year, and the peak will possibly touch 20m.

Now the hottest afternoon of the year, temperatures down south nudging 29 to 30 degrees centigrade (84 to 86 degrees fahrenheit).

Considering the drops it was having a few weeks ago....to rebound and stay over the 1 million mark for the last week is a great result imo when I thought it would be half that by now.

So yes, good result

Scott Pilgrim is an appalling, stupid film. It wouldn't have rated well anywhere and the disastrous rating for it last night says it all.

And I'd forgotten just how woeful ITV's Saturdays were last Summer! Puts last night into perspective.

haha it's a critically acclaimed cult favorite actually. So you're talkin BS

And as someone already said, most of its target audience go out on a Saturday night hence the low numbers.. also it shoud've been shown earlier imo

I remember reading some months ago that ITV were going to pilot a remake of Stars in Their Eyes (to be recorded at Granada I believe) but it seems it didn't happen. But why they would need to buy in a very similar format is puzzling (to say the least) as you can hardly copyright a bunch of people trying to imitate other people.

The unique format point is the Randomiser.

Movie premieres have almost always gone out at the weekend on practically all channels actually, and films have historically done very well for C4 and C5 at the weekends. The weekend tends to make more sense when people will stay up later than during the week when a 10pm start means a post-midnight finish or a 9pm start means clashing with established series on BBC/ITV.

Sorry but it's awful. Pointless and silly. 'Cult favourite' tends to mean only a small number of people like it so I'm clearly not alone.

It wouldn't have rated well in any slot. Doubt the core audience for it would have been out anyway, it would appeal to a nerdy (or as you say 'cult') audience who don't tend to go out much anyway.

And this tennis match is so tense. Like many though I'm watching it outside. Agree with Ronant that BARB need to start measuring online viewing, and fast.

Saturday was a horrible day to air SPVTW though....Sunday would've got a great number

lol you couldn't be more wrong..

You didn't like it, thats your opinion.... Everyone I know who've seen it loved it, Critics loved it..

It wasn't a hit at the box office, but with positive word of mouth became one of the top selling blu-ray/dvd's of the year. Thats pretty impressive considering the low BO numbers

And its target audience, would be a younger crowd who most definitely go out on Saturday nights..

the advertisers would never let any ad channel drop its highest rating shows problem with ad channels is when there was less on offer from multi channel and web there was a chance to establish mass shows in primetime not just soaps etc but now theres little chance of dropping soaps in favour of lower ratings shows.

bbc on the other hand mmmm bbc1 has no obligation to advertisers and could drop enders to just two episodes a week and create mass slots for new shows (hopefully not imported expensive ones ) but instead along with 4 enders we get year long weekly holby and caualty and past its best warterloo road which could all be short run shows and create more space for new shows.

im sure the licence fee paid bbc fan pose will reply and defend stale bbc1 but adds to the fun 8-)

Yes according to the BBC live internet feed its the hottest its been on centre court for a final since 1976. Those of us who were around in 1976 will know what that means.

The peak share is going to be astronomical - I think D.M.N.'s suggestion of 70% is going to be met, especially as this one is looking like a five-setter.

Well EE is on at 12.55am on BBC3 next Friday because of T in the Park featuring Emeli Sande and Mumford and Sons.

EastEnders and Emeli Sande- a great combination.

And the omnibus airs on Saturday rather than Sunday next weekend, probably for something like Cheese Rolling Championships or Eternal in Concert on Sunday.

This was a 4 hour programme - do you have the actual match figure (and/or peak)?

I don't have exact timings but match would have been approx 11.05am to 12.50pm.

Incidentally re an earlier post the match almost certainly did outrate the 1st Test as the 1st Test had a far shorter programme intro (due to NZ Test beforehand).

Well we have the Queen's Coronation Festival Gala from Buck House on BBC1 next Saturday night, presumably this is the last of these events. Seems to involve Sophie Raworth, Russell Watson and the English National Ballet.

It was daft of the BBC to big up the new "fixed" slot for the omnibus on Twitter earlier this year, when it has proved to be anything but, as we suspected.
