Stupendous figures considering the magnificent weather and heat, and the fact the peak came an hour earlier than in 2012. Had it gone the distance that would have been a 20m peak I'm sure.

Slightly disappointed with the average, looks like millions joined midway, as we did.

Last years final averaged 13m from 1.50 to the end. This year's final got 12.1million from 1.50 to the end.

I hope we see a BBC Press Release later, with all other devices included as best as possible.

Wouldn't be surprised if it the match started with around low 8m or 9m and grew as the match continued to the 17.3m peak.

The share speaks for itself, every other channel would have been crushed.

it would have been nice, but the weather meant it was never going to happen

SCD will knock BGT off with ease, we'll just have to wait while December. C'est la vie...

Should depress everyone, a moronic talent show, beating a truly great Sporting moment for Britain.

Incredible peak though.

It depresses me. More people want to see a load of people sing and dance compared to a truly historic moment that you'll be telling the kids about.

But the 17m peak? Amazing. Is that the highest peak of the year?

Exactly. Considerably more watched Murray than whoever or whatever won BGT. Murray - most watched tv moment of 2013 and then some.

Depends on your view. Devils advocate

17m people watching 2 millionaires hit a ball to each other?

17m for a minority sport with zero relative interest outside 2 weeks on the hottest day of the year. Fantastic

It's a good thing the Wimbledon average doesnt include 12.50-1.50 like last year. That bit averaged just 2.7m/29.3% according to Sam and would've dragged down Wimbledon's average to 10.3m/64%.

Just to clarify, yesterday peaked with 17.2957. Which to me, is 17.30m, not 17.29m.

Yeah, not like there's any millionaires involved in BGT, fleecing the acts or the gullible who vote or owt.

Maybe some viewers who tuned to bbc2 at 9pm for Burma, My Father and the Forgotten Army specifically up the last 15mins ratings of Top Gear?

What did Itv rate yesterday evening?

Very impressive for the F1 - highest higlights rating this season, benefitted from Wimbledon lead in and 30%+ share. And Today at Wimbledon did well. I think the 10:35pm slot would be good for Today at Wimbledon next year post-news.
