The highlights shows always get more than the live races on Sky. I know the Sky is a pay channel, but its still embarrasing.

Thank you. That Mamma Mia rating is definately worse than I was expecting. Even All star mr and mrs about 0.5-1million worse than what it was getting with a Coro St lead in on Wednesdays and barely better than what the Cube got last week.

That's to be expected given BBC1 has a greater reach than Sky Sports F1.

Ouch, that is bad. Can't blame Wimbledon either.

ITV's low during yesterday afternoon was 176k (1.3%) at 14:25. Sky F1 didn't disgrace itself: Peak of 1.45m (15.8%) at 13:15.

Why was the peak so early into the race? I know there was a clash with Wimbledon, which might have dented the F1, especially when the match started. Would be good to see a breakdown of this.

Slightly disappointing figures for Wimby, but on the other hand I think we can safely assume that if tablet viewers in the garden etc were included, the figures would have been up to 20m+. Additionally, much like the Olympic Opening Ceremony, those watching in pubs and on big screens could well have meant that the actual number of people watching actually smashed 30m. Also, given that BGT's pub-reach is surely extremely limited, Wimbledon probably did beat it.

Would be interesting if BARB could ever include those watching on Murray Mount/Robson Rock Formation/Henman Hill. Does that count as TV footage? There must have been at least 10k there.

You have truly put things in perspective. What does that say about the average TV viewer? They like to watch history in the making or hamsters in dresses? (I know there really wasn't hamsters in dresses, but you get my drift!)

Why do some people seem to resent success? So what if Murray is a millionaire. He's worked damn hard at something he wanted to do to become a millionaire. Good for him. If you wanted to be a millionaire why don't you get off your arse and work hard at something you want to do?

And the "lack of interest" comment is hilarious. How is tennis a minority sport? Wimbledon is a great British institution for which many will enjoy every year regardless of who's in the final.

Again not everyone likes Sport and not everyone (in fact outside of Wimbledon hardly anyone) bothers with tennis.

You can pick out anything on TV and throw that line at it.

How many people watched the Berlin Wall fall, watched Tianamen Sq, if we're being like that...real history. Not a professional millionaire winning a tennis tournament

I was playing Devils advocate if you bothered to read which you clearly haven't.

Lack of interest sorry its true. Outside of Wimbledon people don't care! No different to athletics outside 2012

I expect we will get some stats from the Beeb regarding tablet and big screen viewing, because there is a real interest in and acceptance of these new ways of viewing, even BARB are powering up their 1983 BBC Micros to measure it now, and I imagine something like 25m people, at least, saw the tv moment of 2013 - Murray winning Wimbledon on BBC1.

More ice cream, anyone?

Debatable. I seem to remember reports of 2m+ watching Sky Sports 1 at 2am last September as Murray clinched the title on Arthur Ashe Court.

You have revealed yourself to be socialist with resentment to success. That is why you keep posting about Murray being a Millionaire. He wasn't ALWAYS a millionaire you know.

Andy Murray's Wimbledon victory scored the highest ratings for 2013 on Sunday (July 7).

The British tennis star's straight sets win over Novak Djokovic attracted a peak audience of 17.29 million on BBC One, with an average of 12.09m (72.8%) from 1.45pm.

It exceeded the 2012 final's peak ratings of 16.9m and an 11.4m average, which had become the biggest UK audience for any Wimbledon final for over 20 years at the time.

Murray's win is the second most-watched Wimbledon match of all time, after Bjorn Borg's five-set victory over John McEnroe back in 1980, which scored 17.3m.

The match overtakes ITV's live Britain's Got Talent final as the highest-rated 2013 programme, the latter having attracted a peak of 13.1m last month.

Fantastic rating and peak.

George has gone AWOL just like the Olympics too

ITV had Willoughbooby at Wimbledon live interviewing Andy and are now on the phone to his grandparents.

What utter nonsense. Again playing Devils Advocate. You just haven't bothered to read the original post in your attempt to be clever.

I find it more socialist that people are knocking other shows viewers so their favourite channel wins out. So what if more people watch bgt? Broader appeal. Why dismiss it?

Typical of attitudes on this thread

Whenever a British participant enters any Sports event the ratings and interest increase. It's about people having an inverted pride in their country. Devil's advocate comments aside, your resentment to millionaires is crystal clear. Jealousy exists within us all. But I'm not jealous of hard working working people who make a success of themselves.

Of course, the BGT Final had a reported one-minute-peak of 17.5m+ didn't it? But again I think it's safe to assume that if Wimby's five-minute-peak was 17m in itself, the one-minute-peak blew BGT out of the water by some distance.
