CBB is back next month which should provide a lovely boost.

Next year, assuming both shows are renewed, I would swap them around so that CBB airs first. I know they tried that in the first year but BB ran through the autumn on that occasion and faced tougher opposition. It just makes more sense to lead with the higher rated show.

SRO audience saying that Catchphrase is back in the Autumn. I wonder if they will make the episodes 1hr instead of 45minutes? If it stays at 45minutes, what would they show at 7.30 on a sunday for half an hour against SCD?

Wimbledon 2013: how the BBC got its coverage wrong

This blog post is currently the most read article on the MediaGuardian site. The key paragraphs read as follows:

If attitudes haven't changed much, then expectations have, and not just in having a player with a chance of winning. Viewers have got used to sporting events being broadcast with some style and professionalism and the BBC is showing signs of lagging. Sue Barker can't help being everyone's favourite head girl but her jolly hockeysticks enthusiasm doesn't really do the job. It feels as wrong as her telling everyone to watch the tournament in 3D on the very day the BBC had announced it was going to stop its 3D coverage as no one watched it.

The BBC's main wrong note, though, came with the jingoism and sentiment that provided the backdrop to almost every day's play. There's nothing wrong with a bit of national pride but from the very beginning of this tournament the BBC took this to almost hysterical levels. What must it feel like to be Laura Robson, the object of intense interest by every BBC pundit for five days, only to be completely ignored by everyone for the next 360?”

Predictably great ratings for the tennis, could have been spectacular if Djokovic had won even one set. Should fuel interest in Wimbledon next year. Sky will hope it generates interest for the US Open but recent events suggest that won't be the case. Everyone else did alright in the evening it seems. Hardly a great night of television to follow such a big event!

Sporting history. It was great to watch and it's a fantastic achievement for Andy Murray. But it's not actually truly historic. Much like hyped TV shows are simply TV history, nothing more. Nobody will be teaching this in history class - and if they are, there's a problem.

It's a tricky road to go down. Measuring minute by minute to ensure consistency with regular TV ratings - accounting for everyone watching a particular bit of a show on whatever platform. If you're going to be accurate, that means including embedded iplayer clips, YouTube views...

Were I agree the BBC's coverage has it's faults these are none of them in my opinion. I sorry but I don't agree with that article.

All that need's to change is to move Today at wibldon to 10:35 on BBC One, extendi it to 75-80mins. Run Live coverage to 9pm on BBC Two insted of 8pm.

Fixed.

If they insist on the two celeb series again that would be the better option, although with the World Cup next year I think they need an earlier start for BB - or perhaps push it back for a July start post-World Cup.

They'd just start at 7.15pm (didn't Strictly run 7.20-8pm anyway?) They've also got Surprise Surprise which will presumably air on Sundays again.

As for Catchphrase - I would cut it to 30 minutes and film some proper Family Fortunes episodes with non-celebrity contestants at 30 minutes too and just get them in the schedules. They'd hold up over an hour better than Millionaire does.

It did somehow get a second series, but I think Off Their Rockers would be better for that pre-X Factor slot if they can turn that around quickly enough.

Broadcastnow had an article the other day saying off their rockers wont be back until 2014.

Fool Britannia would be suited to the 6pm slot on a Saturday.

I don't think they need to drag it out more. 45 minutes is fine, and running from 19:15 - 20:00 is also fine.

It was doing 2-3m in an early evening slot in September which was respectable.

I don't think Surprise Surprise should be shafted to 18:45. But I also don't think You've Been Framed should be there either as they can't have that show on all the time.

As mentioned, a non-celebrity version of Family Fortunes would work fine - I would suggest the idea to ITV if I were any of you lot, but every time I do suggest an idea, they require me to 'solicit' my idea and it just gets a bit too complicated.

It looks like Five have beaten C4 seven times in the last fortnight in terms of overall share. Wonder if this will continue throughout Big Brother?

Wednesday onwards will be interesting as 7pm is one slot where they have remained very uncompetitive, consistently losing out to C4 News. But that's unlikely to be the case for the duration of the Ashes series. So further growth to be found here perhaps. Could C5 inch in front of C4 in the weekly shares for the first time in its history?
