What is funny is with ITV and the Champions League he assumes the norm is an English final and anything less is a disaster.

Meanwhile with the BBC and Wimbledon it seems the norm is a poor British performance and a British final is a bonus.

If the Wimbledon coverage did end up rolling over to 8pm on BBC One, I could imagine them getting rid of Sherlock and moving regional news as late as 8:30pm. I.e. anything to try and get a ratings lead in for EE... They could then move Question of Sport to 9pm and add in an extra Miranda!

Well, anything to try and trounce itv!

I very much doubt ITV would ever bid for Wimbledon as it's too big a commitment for them even though a British finalist would be ratings gold for them as the sport skews heavily ABC1( though there is C2DE called Glenn A who likes it as well). However, imagine they did have the rights- I'd still cheer on Murray and not care about the channel. However, suppose he crushed his opponent in the first three sets, people would still want to score points against ITV.

If i were you, id let him have this little excitment, before ITV screen their biggest shows are trounce BBC for most of Autumn/Winter. Then he'll be scawling the net struggling to find something negative to put a downer on ITV's ratings.

Recent track record shows that British clubs have been in 7 of the last 9 Champions league finals and as a result, Champions League rights are very expensive these days because there is an expectancy that a British club will reach the semi final or final in 90pct of cases. Murray is the first British man to reach a Wimbledon final in 70 years so until he came along, it was not really expected for a British presence in a final. Any British player in the final of Wimbledon is still a big bonus to the bbc and unexpected.

Wimbledon came #14 in the year end chart last year with an official figure of 11.52m. I believe that's the highest.

Not quite so impressive when put like that though.

There is so much potential at 10pm for C4 and C5 if they get the right shows in the slot. BBC1 and ITV shut up shop for the night by going to the news, BBC2 is restricted in what it can show by Newsnight coming in at 10.30pm and though the digital channels often play their biggest shows in the 10pm hour, that's generally little more than once a week, and very much seasonal.

Ben Frow seems to have been the best thing to happen to C5 in a long time. How C4 could really do with someone like him.

I've asked one of the people on Twitter who report the figures for it - I'll notify you if I get the rating.

With a lack of sport this summer, it's a given that it'll end up higher in the chart than that even if it got the same rating.

Why do the bbc insist on having Andrew castle as a tennis commentator he's soo boring in itself he brings ratings down

But knowing ITV they would go to a break immediately the deciding serve was to begin. But I do observe that their is point scoring between BBC supporters and ITV supporters in equal measure. It isn't all one sided!

Reading what is in store for C5 i wonder if the means in future Big Brother will be on at 9pm, or if that is excluded from the plans.

I think this is the right time for Frow and C5 to be looking to re-ignite Channel 5 just as C4 seems to be on a downward spiral.
