A big proportion of Coronation St's timeshift is down to the ad break being removed in the final figures, and that is true regardless of whether it or EastEnders has the higher overall rating for any particular night's episodes.

I hope this year's MBB specials are better than last year's!

You're underestimating it. If 7 days of iplayer are included by that point, as seems likely, the final figure for MBB could be 14-15 million.

If Muslims find Christmas so offensive, why do they open up shops and sell Christmas merchandise? You can't find it offensive when it suits you and then profit from it too!”

Hassan13 - If you find it offensive then don't watch. It:s also a sweeping generalization you're making that in itself is arguably somewhat offensive. I'm married to a Muslim and her family does celebrate Christmas as well as Eid. I'm sure they're not alone in that respect and none of them will find a Citizen Khan Christmas special a problem. I genuinely can't see the BBC being deluged with complaints on this one.

They've both been recorded in Glasgow so safely in the can, no problems with scripts not being delivered on time

I can feel a fantasy Christmas schedule coming on.... Resist!

I do not find it offensive, as I watched the series and I did laugh quite a lot. It's just going to be interesting as to how it flows though and is presented.

A bit early to discuss Christmas schedules - we'd be better off discussing the early autumn schedules.

Channel 4's The Murder Trial, 1.8m viewers, 9.9% share, 9pm til 11.05pm

Good rating for this. Think it includes +1.

Hoping Luther has settled or grown from last week.

Was a balmy evening in London last night and can imagine this taking edge off ratings....

Loving this series as much as S1 & S2.

I presume it will be done (Citizen Khan Xmas Special) from the viewpoint of a deluded Muslim father. Khan strongly believes he is very important to the community and much loved when in fact he is largely ridiculed. A bit like a male Hyacinth Bucket. Therefore, in accordance with his characteristic, and the fact he wants to outdo others and impress, he is likely to have a big, brash Christmas tree, but very little to give in the form of presents. All the Muslim families I know have Christmas trees and decorations and also offer hospitality and food to the local community. More than the Christians do. So in that respect, if Citizen Kkhan didn't show Christmas from a Muslim point of view I would say it would be inaccurately portraying a normal British Muslim household.

Isn't that where it's meant to be? Besides it was extremely hot yesterday, but I think ratings will be up tonight, especially for The Apprentice, as it's relatively cooler.

Robson Green's How the North was Built: 2.32m (inc. +1)

Very poor audience for this first episode on ITV.

Good news on the share increase.

Surely race and religion has nothing to do with being offended by Citizen Khan?

More that it is bloody awful and an assault on the comedic senses?

I personally think Citizen Khan is quite funny. And I know a lot of people who don't find it offensive.

I think the point of Citizen Khan is that it is meant to be sitcom whilst at the same time it mocks middle class sitcoms so that it becomes farcical. In that respect it works. It isn't as bad as some comedies on TV. It made me laugh anyway. I love the rebellious daughter who goes around in slutty clothes but as soon as her dad arrives she's dressed in Muslim clothingf to indicate she's a good Muslim girl!

The words "Robson Green's" put me and millions of others off.

Had it been "Stuart Maconie's" or "Paul Morley's" then it would have been a far more attractive proposition.

And I speak as a northerner.

But this is ITV not BBC4. If ITV did a documentary about the cultural influences of Liverpool they'd ask Keith Chegwin to present it.

Assuming O'Grady was too busy churning out cute doggie programmes...

I don't disagree with any of that. But we can overanalyse things. Citizen Khan is funny and reasonably popular. Successful programmes get asked to do Christmas specials. So it is with Citizen Khan.

I wonder if Luther is sliding because there is such a big bloody gap between series its hard to remember what's going/gone on?

Big Brother- 1.42m including +1. Very good as it was up against Geordie Shore. Is that the highest Tuesday show?

BOTS did fantastically because of the Katie interview. It managed 793k including +1.
