Reality shows of this ilk really belong on MTV or Sky Living as the main four know they don't get the viewers. However, IAC still defies all conventions.”

Agree I reckon Ben frow will try and move the channel away from this sort of stuff

Everyone is well here, certain people enjoy rubbing up other posters . Personally I believe this is a ratings thread not "My channel is better than your channel"

To be fair to DS, they posted this at 13:49 BST - No mention of the average though - quite an upbeat article though.

Quote:
“Andy Murray's dramatic Wimbledon quarter-final comeback brought the BBC the biggest ratings of the tournament so far on Wednesday evening (July 3).

A peak audience of 10.4 million tuned in for the finale as Murray fought back from two sets down to win 3-2.”

Just checked the latest official ratings on the BARB website. The White Queen ep2 with 5.7m is really disappointing. This would be a decent overnight in the Autumn. I hope Quirke starring Gabriel Byrne can be more successful in August.

Do you think, that the three new episodes of Sherlock might be put opposite Downton Abbey this year? Drama up against another drama is not the best thing, but it would be an interesting match.

Yes, I did acknowledge this earlier. Surely worthy of a mention (or at least a link) in the main ratings report though.

I doubt either show would benefit from that scenario. Sherlock ought run In January 2014.

Ahh sorry just skimmed through pages, maybe they are concentrating only on primetime ratings 7:30pm-10:00pm regardless of ratings. Occasionally they say a show won primetime - even though a soap was quite obviously rating #1.

I'm suprised others haven't mentioned this, it should be doing much better than this, at least over 6million. The most recent episode rated at 4.24million in the overnights, that should timeshift to 5.4million or so. I forsee it dropping again this Sunday, perhaps down to 4.1million.

I wonder how Law and Order UK with do against it? I'm thinking in the 4.8million range inc +!

Does anyone know when the final episode will be broadcast?

It wasn't really trailered at all. I can't remember the last time I saw/heard a non-Wimbledon/Voice /EE promo on national or local BBC radio/television. The death was terribly rushed mind.

Again weather was great and that key demo that Waterloo attracts may have been in a beer garden!

I don't think the death was rushed. I just wished they had a few more scenes with him and Grantly. I also liked the fact they remembered when Tom first started he was helping someone off the roof and ended the same way. He pretty much came full circle. Gutted he's gone though

Doctor Who's lowest ever rating was Battlefield part 1, which had 3.1 million viewers on 6th September 1989. It was a Wednesday (yuk), had little or no publicity, and was scheduled directly opposite Coronation Street for purposes of killing it.

Despite this I would maintain there is some really good work in season 26 of Who and that there could have been an upturn in the shows fortune, if anyone at the BBC had cared.

(I realize this isn't actually what the post I'm quoting is about, never the less, it's 2.13am, I'm bored, and this thread does not have enough Doctor Who in it. )

5.7 is a decent audience

The average for the timeslot is around 6 million so its around that mark.

Its first two episodes have been steady and its more popular than Frankie it was more popular launch than the overnight for Luther

Its a niche watch as its historical romance that has a limited audience but its performed better than the Village over the first two episodes.

Well One Show is a daily news magazine show in the vein of Nationwide for today's generation, and Countryfile is a weekly rural affairs news magazine show for farmers and outdoor types. How can airing daily and weekly programmes daily and weekly be overkill?

Should we give the regional news six months off to avoid overkill given this is often the top rated programme of the day.....?

It would cause panic at itv Towers. don't forget the last outing of Downton only came 6th (or 7th?) most watched show that day and wasn't top drama either. Also, it would give the young and youthful TXF demographic an event tv alternative to lingering on itv at 9pm, or they can lobby their parents to watch Sherlock with them and record Downtown on that newfangled Sky + digibox recorder thingumajig.

I bet Queen doesn't plumb the depths or list as badly as Titanic though!

I see it finally confirmed that Downton is a soap. And bath cream, nail polish and scented candle. M&S has brought out a Downton range of beauty products!

Nice to see the climb for BB after the drop on the Wednesday. We are looking at around 1.50m including +1 which would make it the highest rated Thursday of the series.

I wanted Waterloo Road to do better really, it deserved way over 3m for that episode in my opinion.

Interesting to see what Murray does today.

Wall to wall sunshine even compared to his last game. Be interesting to see the figures for streaming on the BBC Sports App

WR dug its own grave with silly story lines earlier this series. It won't recover

The BBC3 title generator must have been used for this one.

Frow's big changes won't be seen on air for a while yet. It can't happen overnight.

Pretty decent for that Supermarket show. FTLOD doing well as always. OK figures for the tennis, pretty poor for Waterloo Road - wasn't it doing like 4 million a year ago?
