Wow, MBB repeats incredibly well.

Am sorry didn't no it had to go in there. Plus in fairness this is not a soap thread yet that doesn't stop people talking about EE.

YFSF is going to be a dire rating - nothing can change that fact, this is a thread to discuss ratings highs and lows, for a Mrs brown repeat to top the ratings - all other BBC One & ITV shows have underperformed badly.

That's a good figure for Mrs Brown Boys especially considering it was a repeat.

To be fair to you people posted Alan Whicker related posts here this week. Arguably more people globally know who Cory Monteith is (I had to google him though). BBC Two ought do an Alan Whicker tribute programme as soon as possible.

Where's free ratings access when you need it? ITV's ratings must have been extremely dismal if no one has bothered reporting them yet.

Decent for Top of the Lake, I doubt it would have done much better had it aired on another night. It's very good but far too strange to get a big audience like The Fall, hopefully it'll stay above 1m but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

I think MBB was scheduled at just the right time, when it had just gone dark outside and those who'd been in their gardens all evening were back indoors

I always think of Alan Whicker as an ITV man. Although maybe he did more for the BBC wasn't his peak the Yorkshire TV 9pm shows in the seventies.

Whicker was very much a BBC man starting on the old Tonight programme back in the 1950s.I think he had a financial interest in YTV when it started and changed horses. He rarely came to Leeds so his ITV programmes were edited at his home in the Channel Islands, much to the delight of the production team involved

I think it's a winter series and would have more viewers then, but it is good to get something new in the summer.

The TOTL thread is very positive ( yes on DS ). It does have a cult feel though. I enjoyed it.

The characters in The Top of the Lake make the residents of Broadchurch look like the cast of Heartbeat. Dunno if the audience will stay with it. But great direction and performance if a little bizzare. Well done on predicting this figure spot on as its hard to say how it would be received in its slot. I think a Monday evening would have gained more viewers.

Well if ITV could only get 10 pc yesterday, this looks likely. Looks like YFSF could be this year's Superstar, an overhyped show plonked in the middle of summer.

10% is a fairly typical ITV weekend all-day share when the big hitters aren't on in the evening. Most of Saturday and Sunday daytime gets 5% or less, dragging down the contribution from primetime.

I don't think YFSF is being overhyped. I think it's a decent show, ITV have just scheduled it badly. They could have stuck it after The X Factor on Saturdays (if they weren't to be stupid and take the ROB format i.e, two separate shows) as one 75-minute show.

Good start for Top of the Lake

Kirkwood is arguably very much the scapegoat for EastEnders recent woes, and not the first Executive Producer who has been in that position by any means. The problems EE has now can be traced back far further than when Kirkwood joined - indeed they can probably be traced right back to the 90s. The problems with the show are far bigger than who is running it at the time.

Going back a few days and if it was discussed I completely missed it but 1.84m for the Murder Trial - a figure you can't really make too many conclusions from as it certainly didn't flop but isn't really a hit either. I suspect it was very expensive to film too - especially getting all the necessary permissions, so unless the law changes I can't see television companies being in a rush to repeat it.

P.S. And not very often news on Digital Spy has you doing a double take but shocking news about Glee's Cory Monteith.

(E4 and PickTV both airing episodes here today - E4 have referenced the news at the beginning of the episode)

That's an interesting point of view, and one which is actually strangely pertinent given that I believe Lorraine Newman has been a member of the EastEnders production team since the 90s.

YFSF is a terrible show its just a complete rip off, of Stars In Thier eyes and that was a lot better then this rubbish.

Obviously there is the dead time between BGT and TXF where a lot of the schedule is filler. However, ITV haven't had any real train wrecks for weekend shows this summer, YFSF has poorish ratings, but it certainly hasn't been a flop in the way The Marriage Ref and Born to Shine were 2 years ago.

With zelebs, I wish ITV would sever this addiction to zelebs for many of their entertainment shows. Celebreality has largely died out, but using B list celebs for shows like this and game shows is becoming tiring and the ratings reflect this.
