The complainers could be good...

What a huge mistake on increasing One Born Every Minutes episode order though...

Empire Strikes Back defied the heat presumably.

Shame ITV Media hasn't updated. The top 10's are useful.

data for week ending 7th July 2013 now available on BARB website

I'm guessing BBC1 will be changing it's programme logs in the next 6 weeks, so that they can report a higher Wimbledon figure (like they did last year with Men's 100m final)

enjoy!

Luther consolidated to 6.43m, so despite being down 0.6m on last year in overnights it's only down 0.06m in officials.

thats bloody fantastic for luther given the dead heat of summer and the 'type of the drama it is'. Could it hold?

How is luther doing in the official figures- I actually find it really good having caught up on it quite late. Also, are there any new dramas starting before the 'big autumn' - when does quirke from the bbc start? Might be interesting- I have read the books and I've always thought after the success of CTM, the bbc should do more dramas set in the 1950/60s. But what do I know?”

Yeah, White Queen has been an utter disaster, no other way to paint it really, but I guess they'll still do allright with overseas sales, yet it's definitely the Beebs "Titanic".

Yet some of the other shows recently have been innovative and brilliant, The Fall especially. Sherlock and Luther are other highlights.

So BARB are reporting 12:50-18:00 as a single programme for the Wimbledon final, despite the BBC breaking it up in an attempt to improve the average? Seems odd.

The average for that entire broadcast stuck at the original figure of 10.3m too. I guess it was expecting too much for many people to sit through the entire game, esepcially when (I imagine) it will have been basically impossible to avoid finding out the result.

What time is that average until? Obviously the programme was originally 10:00 until 19:00, but after play finished early, and analysis was done and dusted, highlights were shown in hour long chunks from 16:00.

The White Queen is doing very poorly considering...

The Fall won't be back for a LONG time apparently.... Gillian Anderson has 2 NBC series to film, Hannibal and Crisis..I wonder if BBC would consider moving it to BBC1 for series 2?

From @TVRatingsUK:

11:00-13:30 (i.e. the morning session) averaged 931k, at 13.1%.
14:10-14:25 (i.e. what little there was of an afternoon session) averaged 1.20m, at 14.5%.

not really

If the initial programme log sent to Kantar said that Wimbledon final coverage would be 12.50pm to 6pm, then they'll go with that.

Once the 6 week programme amendment cycle happens, the programme can be split (assuming of course it was two separate programmes, with opening titles for both).

Just my opinion, not any facts I have from BARB

Coronation Street 9.0

EastEnders 7.9

Emmerdale 6.7

Each programme adding on viewers after the overnights.

Code:
Channel Weekly Reach	Average Viewing (hrs:mns)	Share
Channel 4	29,939,000	0:58				3.8%
Channel 4+1	10,160,000	0:10				0.7%
Channel 5	24,688,000	1:01				4.0%
Channel 5+1	4,525,000	0:05				0.3%
As my favourite racing commentator might say, "TIGHT! It's desperate. They go past together."

C4+1 was the difference here. It's been around for longer, crucially has a far better Freeview EPG position and is still maintaining a healthy advantage over C5+1 despite that not being true of the parent channels. Note also that C4 is still a good 5 million ahead in terms of reach. But C5's viewers are watching for on average 3 minutes longer.

ITV3 was a distant sixth on 2.9%.

It was Ben Stephenson's view, that is a fact. I read it myself in Broadcast the other day. It is relevant to the debate. If he is providing statistics and quotes then that is a constructive post, regardless of what's he trying to prove. I would rather read Samuel's posts than endless "HA HA SAMUEL WHAT'S HAPPENED TO YOUR BELOVED BBC".

Anyway, it's certainly not the first time a big-budget BBC1 drama has been beaten by more mainstream fare on ITV. Pride and Prejudice was a hugely acclaimed piece of television and it was beaten in the ratings every week by London's Burning because London's Burning was more accessible to a general audience. A ten-part drama about The War Of The Roses is going to be a hard sell.

I think it's great that CF kicks arse over everything else.
It's just a nice relaxing programme.

yes but its Four doing worse not Five doing better. Its like passing a car with two flat tires that continues to try to drive down the motorway.

Well you could say that about anything airing on ITV/C4/C5/digitals as they don't have the reach to compete on the same level, that much is obvious. Not to mention the fact that the strength of the average for C5's highlights show is hampered by breaks every 15 minutes, ditto any other commercial TV programme.

I'm sure Alfa Romeo who reportedly paid just £250k for sponsorship of the series are very happy that these highlights are on FTA commercial TV which will ensure their stings are seen by millions of viewers over the course of the series, along with other big brands and companies that have booked advertising space.

The BBC were welcome to put in a bid but AFAIK they didn't, and so C5 now hold the rights until at least 2017.

Chris Froome is on course to win the Tour de France this Sundayt. I wonder if Itv will get rid of their Sunday prime time lineup of Tipping Point and Mr & Mrs to show this big sporting moment on their main channel? Last year they showed Bradley Wiggins' victory on the main channel.

Just thought I'd ask again in case anyone has any answers now that the weekend is over and more data is coming through...

Does anyone know what Channel 5 aired Friday night (12th) at 8pm, and what overnight rating it got?

Many thanks!

The Tour de France isn't being talked about or mentioned anywhere near as much as Wimbledon or any other sporting events were.

For the record, how last year's Tour de France final rated:

ITV
14:00-17:00 - Tour de France Live - 1.34m (11.96%)
* +1 43k (0.34%)
* combined average 2m
* ITV1 peak 2.6m
* combined peak 3.55m (28.19%) @ 4:20pm

ITV4
14:00-17:00 - Tour de France Live - 621k (5.5%)
+1 6,800 (0.05%)
* combined peak 3.55m (28.19%) @ 4:20pm

ITV aren't going to drop two of their solid raters on a Sunday night, unless they really have to.
