The Tour de France isn't being talked about or mentioned anywhere near as much as Wimbledon or any other sporting events were.
For the record, how last year's Tour de France final rated: * combined average 2m * combined peak 3.55m (28.19%) @ 4:20pm[/i] ITV aren't going to drop two of their solid raters on a Sunday night, unless they really have to. |

I get the feeling Froome isn't really considered "British" enough for the press or general public to be that interested in him.

does anyone know when quirke from bbc1 will start. I loved the books and am hoping for a great drama- wish they had shown this instead of the white queen. The white queen is all on ben stephenson and while its not in flop territory yet, I don't think its doing as well as he had liked. The drama that is on his shoulders is atlantis. Looks interesting but I read its being done from the same team who did merlin??????????
![]() Could they be showing that on sundays? |

Does anyone know what Channel 5 aired Friday night (12th) at 8pm, and what overnight rating it got?
Many thanks! ![]() I notice you often ask for specific ratings that haven't been reported via usual sources. Do you store them all in a big ratings database or something?

I don't think I've seen a CBBC top 10 where the lowest programme is below 200k.
1 HORRIBLE HISTORIES (TUE 1703) 548 2 DISASTER CHEFS (TUE 1632) 275 3 HORRIBLE HISTORIES: GORY GAMES (TUE 1734) 272 4 THE SCOOBY DOO SHOW (WED 1600) 258 5 THE SCOOBY DOO SHOW (TUE 1600) 258 6 SORRY I'VE GOT NO HEAD (TUE 0748) 247 7 LEAGUE OF SUPER EVIL (TUE 1546) 237 8 NEWSROUND BULLETIN (TUE 0741) 200 9 BLUE PETER - YOU DECIDE! (MON 1701) 198 10 NEWSROUND BULLETIN (WED 1623) 198 Still, Horrible Histories is a very well rater for the channel, that's its highest figure ever. It's a shame it's been hidden there though, it deserves a repeat airing on BBC One/Two at least. As for the Blue Peter competition, it's always being mentioned that a spot on the show is 'the best presenting job in the world' - if the choosing of a new presenter doesn't rejuvenate the show, I don't know what will. An official rating of 10.32m for Wimbledon as opposed to 12.09m in the overnights - why have they seemingly shortened the duration (which may have caused this)? C4 have 15 programmes out of the 30 less than a million, as with C5. |

A combined average of 2m and peak of 3.6m in the afternoon means this would probably get 3-4m in prime time and peak of 4-5million if shown exclusively on the main channel, better than what ASMM and Tipping Point rate and better demos too.
And plus, where has it been said that it will air in primetime? |

The Tour de France schedule shows that the conclusion will be around 8.45pm our time. Normally it ends in the afternoon before 5pm but the organisers want a sunset/peak time finish this year.

How has it been rating on ITV4 compared to last year? If it's been rating worse (which I wouldn't be surprised to see as the weather is much better compared to this time last year) then they can keep it on ITV4. ITV4 could do with the ratings more than ITV.

Dont know how its rating this year. Probably is worse though because GeorgeS hasnt been posting its ratings on a daily basis unlike last year when he'd mention it almost every day.

Head of BBC drama Ben Stephenson has said that although he'd have liked The White Queen to get slightly more viewers, it's not all about ratings: "The truth is this [The White Queen] is what the BBC is all about – taking big risks and giving people the opportunity to do things. I'm really glad we did it."
So according to him, it's more than just the ratings which matter about the White Queen. It's an "experimental" drama featuring a part of our history hardly ever shown on television. Ratings aren't the be all and end all with regard to the white queen, and a fairly mediocre crime drama which is simple to understand was always more likely to win this particular ratings battlle. I wonder if Stephenson believes the crap that comes out of mouth or whether, as I suspect, he's just trying to deflect criticism of what is a pretty mediocre effort by the BBC. |

![]() Could they be showing that on sundays? It will all depend on the consolidated figures - but I'd say The White Queen will be a flop if it can't rally next week. L&O: UK is hardly heavy duty competition, whatever the weather - yet it won the slot. As for Ben Stephenson: he is living on borrowed time and has been for a while. He and many of his commissioning team have next to no production experience (Stephenson's sole producer credit is on a show allegedly so bad it will never be broadcast in the UK). BBC drama has delivered some good titles - but there are more and more duds, a lack of understanding as to what mainstream drama is and the state of its continuing series should be panicking executives. There are rumours that EE's Series Producer is being shown the door: but who is going to step in and rescue the show from oblivion? And where exactly is Stephenson in that particular crisis ...?

That's actually not the worst lineup in the world for Celeb Super Spa. No A-listers obviously but it's a fair standard of celeb and the likes of Flanagan are sure to be good value. That's the headline signing really that might generate some press interest. Interesting choice of presenters as well, good to see C5 promoting some up and coming talent. Not sold on the format however, but some have said it sounds similar to Trust Me I'm a Beauty Therapist, and that was bringing in audiences of about 1 million at 11pm back in October 2006. How times have changed: C5 wouldn't air first run entertainment in that slot now, beyond Bit on the Side. Presumably Celeb Super Spa will get a CBB lead-in at 10pm, so every chance of performing strongly.

Atlantis is - on paper, at least - a safer bet than The White Queen. The team who did Merlin delivered a show that rated more than respectably against TXF.

I echo everything about Stephenson, clear case of someon promoted way above his intelligence/competency level, The White Queen is a unmitageted disaster hence why it got a summer airing. I just realised you mentioned Atlantis, is this in addition to the BBC's Musketeers drama for Saturday nights. |

Stephenson is lying through his teeth. 'The White Queen' isn't 'experimental' in any way whatsoever. It was written and packaged as little more than a sub-standard version of 'The Tudors' to be sold overseas to an American audience. Exactly what aspect of the show is supposed be 'experimental'?
I wonder if Stephenson believes the crap that comes out of mouth or whether, as I suspect, he's just trying to deflect criticism of what is a pretty mediocre effort by the BBC. Telegraph's TV critic seems to think it is a risk, and even though this one hasn't worked, that the BBC should continue to take this type of chances. Two points from me on it: it does feel cheap and a bit of a let down, particularly in comparision to HBO's offerings - once you've seen the Game of Thrones battle scenes, TWQ looks very amateur in comparision. The BBC doesn't seem to have the budget to go for the big set piece moments, and in a drama like this it's sorely needed. On the other hand, I do think it's been poorly scheduled and hindered by the glorious weather we've been having - there are just far fewer people watching tv during a summer like this who will commit to a 10 week series than there are during the spring or autumn. However, maybe they put it out in the summer because they knew it wasn't their strongest effort? Not sure. It was a nice idea to try, but has been poorly executed. |

Last year it grew as the race got nearer the finish and it looks like a UK winner.

I'm guessing that ITV Studios plans to sell the format if its a hit, must be their first show for 5 in years |
