Huawei YouView box RF connections
A mate of mine has just rung me with a query about the RF connections on his Huawei YouView (YV) box.
He has connected the aerial downlead into the YV box and connected the YV box to his TV via the HDMI cable and it all works. The problem he is having is connection the YV box to his TV using the "RF out" connection. He says the plug on the cable he has will not fit. I know that on some devices the sleeve on the cable plug fits outside the sleeve of the terminal while on others the sleeve of the plug fits inside the terminal. The only picture I could find of the back of a YV box is too blurred for me make out what type of connectors it has. Can someone with Huawei box let me know please. |

I don't have that box but almost everything nowadays with RF in and out has a female connector for in and a male for out. (I was taught to define the sex of a connector by the sex of the centre pin or pins.) Back in the old days before VCRs, all flyleads had a male plug at each end. Still use those to connect an aerial wall-plate to RF in of a TV, VCR, STB etc. But usually need a different lead with one male and one female to connect VCR, STB etc RFout to TV RF in.
If your friend cannot bypass the Huawei by directly joining the in and out cables, then very likely he is trying to use a male-male lead on the output side. |

You may well be correct that he has an old male/male lead. If he hasn't got the right lead I will give him a change over connector.

Just had an e-mail from my mate and he solved the problem,
He mistook the RF out socket on the YV box for a female connector because it apparently does not have a solid pin but a crimped pin. |
