Actually, I think the question of underwear may be significant here. If someone has a bra and knickers on under their pj's or onesie, it seems that they got dressed. If they're going commando and bra-less, then they're probably still in what they slept in.

If it's a man, and he's wearing a bra under his pj's, you're probably in Brighton.

People can do what they like but I have to admit that when I see someone at the shop in the middle of the day in pj's, my first thought is that they are lazy. My daughters won't even answer the door in their nightwear!

If you wear pj's out they're called lounging pants
Sainsburys sell them in packs of 2 so it must be ok

in my experience lazy people are always denying it and covering it up, so personally I would think they probably don't often appear in nightclothes in public.

To me, unkempt ones = ill, reasonable appearance cases, = laid back attitudes and independent minded, so positive, except for teenagers, for which it is, a fashion trend round where I live.

I guess there must have been a bad bug going round my area for the last couple of years then.

I saw a lady with her young daughter and a baby in a pushchair in nightclothes a couple of days ago in my local co op, complete with slippers, was about 10am it amused me. I couldnt do it I don't feel awake until I get dressed and washed in the morning!

I got told off when I was about 8 for wearing my slippers out to the cornershop, as my friends did it, my mum said it makes you look like you can't afford shoes

Doesn't bother me, I saw a couple of women in their peejays a few months back and they clearly had no underwear on

fair enough but I really don't think that's the case with the girls that are in my local shop. I'm pretty sure if they can drag themselves up to the shop for their buckfast, they could expend the extra energy to put clothes on. Anyway, each to their own but I'm afraid I'll probably always think "lazy". I've been seriously ill myself and if I was well enough to go to the shop, I was well enough to stick some clothes on.

I know lol, I went into labour about 2am, very painful, but it never occurred to me to go to the maternity ward with my jammies on, I got dressed for the taxi ride

Exactly if you are able to venture out, you should be capable of putting on day clothes, even if its t shirt and joggers imo

I did once. Just before Christmas last year. Just got out of the bath and in to my pjs when I realised I needed some cat food. Pulled on my winter coat and went to the shop.

Pjs were fresh on and it was dark so I don't think anyone noticed I was wearing Winnie the Pooh themed Christmas pjs. Thankfully I remembered to change out of my Rudolph slippers before leaving the house. That would have been embarrassing lol.

I wonder how many people go around in nightdresses - with coats over them so no one can tell.

I think the line between normal everyday wear and sleepwear has become blurred. You could probably get away with wearing a leopard spot adult onesie outside.

I agree, I think it has.

Today I succumbed to temptation and bought a pair of neon pink pajama bottoms with a Hello Kitty pattern, in cotton. But I didn't buy the top - I shall be wearing it with a hip-length, ruffles-edged lacey top - and I don't intend to ever sleep in them.
