If you absolutely HAD to choose one woman to be the next Doctor, what woman do you think could embody this role? Even if you're totally against the idea of female casting, what woman would you choose?

I absolutely hate the idea of a female Doctor!
But - for fun. I would say Victoria Wood ....she can do comedy, drama and the rest!

I assume this is just for fun

Joanna Lumley

If the programmes going to jump the shark it might as well do it in style.

I'm ambivalent about the idea of a female Doctor but I wouldn't rule out Keeley Hawes for the role.

Well, if I *have* to...

Tamsin Greig....or Suranne Jones! (Ahhhh!)

Can't see us having a female Doctor but could kind of picture them in the role.

I was watching something earlier in the week that made me think 'Oh she'd be a good Doctor' but now I can't remember.

Zoe Wanamaker is just weird enough to be the Dr.

I could see Jemima Rooper taking a good stab at it.

I still say Jaime Murray would make a great female Doctor

I didn't realise I forgot to put it in my original post but The Alpha Gamer HAVE to agree with you there! Jaime Murray is badass as HG Wells, already playing a considered "male" role. She'd be an amazing Doctor! (Though I'd rather a male!)

I'm not keen on the idea of a female Doctor.

If it was on the cards, though, my choice would be Jane Horrocks.

Jamie Murray is certainly an interesting choice. Amanda Tapping has a good SiFi pedigree. Nikki Amuka-Bird was brilliant in Torchwood. Or get Jessica Oyelowo with her husband as the companion. Actually any of the actresses from Spooks would be good. Hermione, Nicola or Jenny would be excellent choices.

Aye that's who it was. I think she'd be good after watching Warehouse 13.

Somebody best known for intense British drama. A female Eccleston, if you will.

Saskia Reeves.

The suggestion of Zoe Wannamaker isn't actually that bad, although I've said it before, Sue Perkins
