I seem to recall it being reported at the time back in 2010 that Simon decided not to have Big Band week that year because he thought the likes of Cher and One Direction wouldn't suit it. Also, they didn't have rock week last series either (maybe Jahmene wouldn't suit it, but we thought Joe McElderry wouldn't suit it back in 2009 and surprised us, but we'll never know).
I would like the return of Big Band, as that's where we realise who exactly are the best singers and/or who can put on the best performance. Also, some themes which they haven't done before. An Amy Winehouse tribute week is long awaited for one. |

It's hard to say Simon axed it for those reasons. Look at Diana Vickers with Big Band week. Didn't suit it at all but she still smashed it.

I was gutted when they axed Big Band week. It was the only "theme" I really cared for, as overall I hate the idea of theme weeks because they are so restrictive and often the song doesn't even match the theme anyway. Big Band week added a bit of class to the show, though.
