EPISODE TWENTY-FOUR 74/74: SERIES 5 FINALE; HOUR-LONG

Mr. Blue Sky plays over the opening scenes, as a smiling Sorcha looks at the christening robe Kat’s given to her. Bevis flicks through his shirts as he prepares for his engagement party, dan can be heard whistling in the shower. Scrabbler sits looking out his bedroom window happy to be home at last. Priscilla and Sez are all dolled up as they make their way over to sorcha’s, a bare foot Blue runs (heels in hand) to the pub hoping to put the finishing touches to the buffet. Toni watches los.kav opening the homeless shelter, her face lightening up when he sees her. Zack and Lauren can’t keep their hands off each other in the kitchen and kiss their way back to the bedroom. AngelicPrincess waves up at Scrabbler as she calls in to fill him in all he’s missed. Vaslav is pleased to wake up to the sound of Scrabbler screaming once more before Skye bursts into his room to get her straighteners back. Lucy looks happy as she texts someone on her way to work.

The camera pans to the top window of The Gutter where Shirley is drawing the curtains in her dressing gown. She opens the window as she lights her first fag of the day. Mas is on his rounds and signals to her that she has letters before putting them under the door. She scowls not to leave them if they’re bills. Mona walks in asking her how she looks for the christening. Shirl quips, ‘Have you ever seen me in a dress?” Mona excitedly heads downstairs to see if Blue is ready.

Sharon makes her way down Dot’s stairs. Denny walking a few steps ahead. He asks her when they’ll be going home but she replies that she’s not sure. He goes into the living room to watch tv and she goes to the kitchen to get him some breakfast, greeting Dot ‘Good Morning.’ Dot says she’s welcome to stay as long as she needs but Phil needs all the support he can get at a time like this, “Anyway I don’t think I’ll see nor hear from that Gary fella again.” Sharon questions what she knew of him. Dot says he was a sinner who was repenting, maybe he fell back into his old ways. Sharon says his brother is working for her, “Hanley’s the name, right?” Dot thinks before uttering, “Yes. Yes, that’s the one. He calls himself Gary but it’s his middle name. Chris Mark Gary.” The cogs visibly turn in Sharon’s head as she sees Dot’s out of jam and says she’ll pop to the Minute Mart to get some.

Sez and Priscilla exclaim as sorcha enters the living room with Eddy in his robe, them all staring over him with glaring faces. Sorcha thanks them for being there for her today saying she couldn’t have done it without them. The cab horn honks as Sez takes some pics of them with the baby. They all stagger out unable to walk in their heels. Sorcha checks she has everything before shutting the door, Sez attaching the car seat before Priscilla clips him in. Sorcha hops in. In the Summertime plays in the cab. As he turns it up, they begin to sing and move along to it. Eddy and the driver looking on in wonder. Sorcha laughs how cool it is that Eddy’ll be able to say his Godfather was once EP of EastEnders

Scrabbler thanks AngelicPrincess for keeping the EastEnders ship above water and that he’ll be in later once he’s fulfilled his Godfather duties, “You gotta go, you gotta go!’ he mimics. Angie jokingly apologises for not being there to take the hits this time before exiting. Scrabbler goes upstairs to finish getting ready when he notices that Vaslav is still in bed. Peeking his head in, vaslav states he’s not going depressingly. Scrabbler sits on the edge of the bed unable to understand why he’s still down and lax. Vas opens up to him, “Bomani’s gone but who’s to say I won’t get attacked again by someone else? What if he gets one of his friends to get me in revenge?” Scrabbler tells him he’s got to snap out of this, he can’t go on living the rest of his life in fear “We all take that chance when we walk out the door. When I was being stalked, I didn’t want to get out of bed. I was scared sh!tless but I got on with it. I HAD to, I had no choice. A lot is expected of me and I can’t let ONE person get to me/get me down. It wore me down but I came out the other side. The longer you stay here, the harder it’ll be for you to go back out into the real world.” Vaslav begins to cry stating that he feels he can’t be his flamboyant, camp self anymore as he’ll just be attacked by another homophobe…

Maurice stands in the Square Gardens looking at Sorcha’s house. Fully aware that today is Eddard’s christening. He bumps into Sharon who is sitting on Arthur’s bench staring at the pub, her mind whirling with all her new found information. Maurice sits down beside her and she recognises him as Sorcha’s partner, she tells him she’s a nice girl who she sees a lot of herself in. Maurice says there’s no going back for them. Sharon assures him they might just need some breathing space, “What would you do if you found out someone you loved had as good as caused another person you loved to die?” Maurice thinks she’s talking about him and replies that if that person had showed genuine remorse and grief then he doesn’t see why they couldn’t work past it. Sharon looks at the pub, tears visible in her eyes “I’ve experienced so much pain and loss in my life, I don’t think I can take anymore. I put on this strong façade, brave face, whatever you want to call it and it all just builds up until something comes along and knocks me like a brick.” Sharon goes silent, Maurice not knowing what to say. “It’s the christening today” he states. Sharon asks what he’s doing here, this is his chance to show he’s going to be there for them “That’s if that’s what you want of course. You don’t want to end up trapped in a relationship.” Maurice thanks her running to Turpin Cabs, Sharon stares at Phil’s house.

Scrabbler assures him Bomani is in the minority, it’s scum like him that have the problem “You’re not the only gay in the Square. Ahem **coughs pointing at himself**. There’s dan and Bevis who live beside Mc Klunkeys.” Vaslav quips that dan was attacked a while back in his own home. “As was I, but it had nothing to do with my sexuality. You need to stop letting it define you. Today…today you’ll be surrounded by friends. It’s the perfect chance to get back out there” he retaliates. Vaslav says Skye had to drag him to the cab last week, demonstrating the scratch marks on his hand. Scrabbler’s running out of time and begins to beg him. “You don’t understand though Scrabs. It’s not as easy as just walking out the door, it’s psychological. I can’t bring myself to do it, the thought brings me in out in a sweat and palpitations.” Scrabbler says they’ll be in the pub after so he should text him if he has a change of heart.

Dan somewhat dampens the good mood when he says to Bevis that today’s the perfect day to retrieve the doorstep as most people will be at the christening and Gary’s still AWOL. Dan asks him to distract Dot to make sure he isn’t distracted. Bevis reluctantly agrees, now reserved to the fact IanMandy could be convicted for the murder.

Also tonight, O…O wakes to find her pussy at the door and spends all day playing with it. Mo Mouse takes Geraldine on a surprise holiday to France in the hope of rekindling their relationship. Nicnacs has had enough and goes to confront Ken’s wife herself. Roxy gets a surprise to find Ronnie has purchased the salon for her wanting to keep her close.

The congregation take to their seats as Rev. Stevens prepares to commence the christening. Scrabbler and Priscilla join Sorcha at the font. Camera switches to Maurice in the back of a cab checking his watch, will he make it?

Bevis enters the Laundrette and seeing Dot he texts dan that the coast is clear at Number 25. Bevis drags in three full bags of washing. Dot informs him he’ll have to wait as there’s only 2 free machines and one is on the blink, Bevis smiles he’s in no rush. Dan makes his way into Dot’s back garden and forces the door open. Entering the kitchen, he smiles as he sees the doorstop keeping open the kitchen door. Hearing a bang, Sharon shouts from the living room thinking its Denny. Dan bolts forgetting the doorstop. Not getting an answer, Sharon goes into the kitchen but there’s nothing there. Glancing around she notices the broken back door and runs upstairs to see if Denny’s ok.

As the Reverend pours the water over Eddy’s head, the congregation turn to the sound of the door closing. Sorcha is shocked and angry to see Maurice standing there. Not wanting to cause a commotion, Maurice takes a seat at the back of the church. Back at the pub, Shirley and Mick are still catching up leaving the rest of the family to sort the food. Linda’s fumes to her kids that she won’t be taking orders from her for much longer “I’ve been under my mum’s thumb long enough. I’m not planning on taking orders from his sister who couldn’t run a bath never mind a pub.”

Dot receives a phone call in the Laundrette and pushes Bevis out saying the Laundrette is closing early, he can pick up his washing tomorrow him having only emptied one bag. Bevis fears dan’s been caught and runs back to the house to see if he’s there. Dan sees him passing an whistles from the War Memorial. Bevis asks “what happened?, where’s the doorstop?” Dan glumly replies that Sharon was there and he panicked. Bevis is confused wondering what she was doing there, dan states he doesn’t know assuring him she couldn’t have seen him “They’ll think it was Gary” he smiles. Bevis walks off in strop, frustrated at their lack of progress.

As the Christening comes to a close, they begin to take photographs. The Godparents get a snap with the baby. Sorcha tries to contain her anger as Maurice approaches. She waits until the Reverend has entered the vestry before screaming at Maurice to keep away from her and her baby. Some look on confusingly, Priscilla the only other person fully aware of the circumstances. Maurice begs her to hear him out, he’s here for the baby. Sorcha squeals to get that murderer out of her sight pointing at Maurice.

Dot is shook stating if Sharon hadn’t been there, who knows what would have happened? Sharon rings Ian to come over when he can, needing to talk to Phil but not wanting to leave Dot on her own. Sharon assures her she’ll stay with her again tonight, she’s not alone. Dot is grateful.

Nicnacs takes a deep breath as she knocks on the door. She doesn’t have to wait to long to get an answer. Answering the door, Ken’s wife (Paula) brazenly tells her she’s not interested if she’s selling something or spouting her religious or political beliefs. Nicnacs says she’s here about her husband. Paula tells her to come on in.

Dan and Bevis are getting ready for their party undecided whether or not to attend the Christening one which proceeds it. Back at the church, Sorcha has to be held back as she goes to attack Maurice still spitting venom at him “My TK would still be here if it wasn’t for you and your jealously.” Maurice laughs unable to hold back, “It wouldn’t have lasted either, it would have only been a matter of time before you strayed. You’d be lactating over your next conquest quicker than I can say ‘slag’” Reverend Stevens emerges asking them to take their row outside and respect the house of God. Their friends look on awkwardly not wanting to take sides. Maurice walks off on his own once he gets outside not wanting to ruin Eddy’s day any further.

Phil is pleased to see Sharon back in the house but she informs him she won’t be staying the night, he’s not the only person who needs her. Phil tries to apologise to her again stating he wanted to be honest with her as it’s been eating him up inside since she returned. Sharon eyes pop, “Well it’s been eating me up every day for the past 8 years…..Look Phil, I’m not going to walk out on you now. I promised I’d stick by you and I keep my word. You start your treatment tomorrow so I’ll be round first thing. Ok?” A teary eyed Phil smiles back at her.

Two Tribes plays over pub scene

The Christening crowd are now in the pub. The camera stands still as people pass and come & go. Day begins to fade and Shirley prepares the place for the engagement, Johnny left to straighten the banner as Nancy lays out some nibbles. Linda surprises Mick with a night out at a nice restaurant. The party consists of Dan, Bevis, Zack, Vald, Klen, Sez, Maurice, Scrabbler, Skye and Angie P. Talk soon turns to sex and Bevis asks them to describe their sex life with a movie joking that dan’s would be Toy Story. Scrabbler cuts in to say it’d be more like Free Willy. Dan tells him to shut it Willy Bonka. Zack notices Shirley listening in and asks them what they think hers would be, There Will be Blood? Shirley quips from the bar, “Kinky Boots.” Vald snorts on her G&T. Maurice ponders who the best men will be suggesting Scrabbler as chief bridesmaid. Dan says they haven’t thought that far yet but will probably have one each.

Paula is furious with nicnacs when she realises she’s her husband’s mistress. Nicnacs can see why he’s afraid of her but she doesn’t want to show her fear. She remains calm stating the reasons he had to leave her. She spits that’s no reason for him to have an affair on her. Nicnacs gives up, “I’m not going to waste my breath on you any longer. It’s like talking to a brick wall.” Nicnacs storms upstairs to get Ken’s things together, Paula following her. Nicnacs asks for a key so they can come back when she’s not there but she refuses. Taking the bag onto the landing, Paula stands in her way blocking her from passing. Nicnacs tries to push past but Paula ends up tumbling to the foot of the stairs. Nicnacs stands in shock as she stares at an unconscious Paula. She runs to her, checking for a pulse.

A montage plays with this song, Dan shows Bevis tickets for Spain as they head home, they’re going on holiday for 2 weeks. Scrabbler checks on Vaslav who’s asleep before telling Skye he’s getting him a counsellor. Lauren is uneasy as Zack and klen arrive home drunk. Phil lies awake in his double bed scared at what tomorrow will hold. Vald is shocked when she sees Toni and Los.kav getting intimate while she waits for a cab home. Maurice looks at sorcha’s house before conking out on Arthur’s bench. Sez is shocked to find Dean lurking in the shadows. Nicnacs rings an ambulance informing there’s still a pulse. We see Gary partying in a niteclub.

The music continues into the credits superimposed over an aerial shot of the Square.

I can officially confirm that DS Enders has been recommissioned for a sixth series consisting of 26 episodes. Producer Dullagj2 will be posting his thoughts on the past series and what’s to come so keep an eye on the thread. Plotting on the series begun this week in the glorious sunshine and it promises to be the biggest yet concluding with the series’ 100th episode.

As the series has gone on, we've found out more about Emily from her family (life) to events that occurred before she entered dan's house. There's some more to come but here's Episode 13 with the gaps filled in. As the mystery has gone on, we've delved deeper and deeper slowly peeling away the layers setting us up for an explosive series 6.

DS Enders Producer Talk

Maurice/Sorcha:

Just as they were getting back on track, along came Eddy. Poor Maurice couldn’t handle fatherhood seeing TK every time he looked at the child. It was bubbling away quietly, him desperately wanting the happy family with sorcha he craved for but he couldn’t hack it. His post natal depression led him to leave to get his head straight. Returning we finally saw him confess his guilt over TK’s death which sorcha didn’t take well. It was only right that they were at the forefront for the 1st anniversary. I really enjoy writing for this pair and I hope readers can sympathise with both of them.

Series 6 will see us delve further into these characters. We’ll find Maurice in quite a low place but he’s got a new job and that’ll be therapeutic for him. Sorcha’s enjoying motherhood, Priscilla's now moved in with her. It’ll be the characters around sorcha causing all the drama. Maurice has only ever loved sorcha, he could be set to take dangerous and desperate measures to win her back.

Vaslav/Scrabbler:

Vaslav became agoraphobic after his homophobic attack at the hands of Bomani. Scrabbler has been a rock for him giving him a place to live, support and a friendly ear to lean on. I really like their friendship and their scenes are often chance for some nice banter and humour. Scrabbler paid the price for defending his friend, suffering an awful attack at the hands of Bomani’s tormentor. I thought it was ironic that he ended up in hospital defending his friend like AngelicPrincess did yet remained unscathed physically during his stalker ordeal.

Vaslav has been and will be receiving counselling but is it as big a help as Scrabbler thinks? Vaslav will be out and about again but he’s still very much mentally scarred from his ordeal. Scrabbler’s set for a shock when he realises that the Hanleys are the same Hanleys that are related to Sharon and that the wife of the man he saw mowed down while being the passenger in his boyfriend’s car has rocked up on the Square.

Killer Dan:

The Dan story became even more complicated last series with a schizophrenic IanMandy confessing to Emily’s murder convinced he’d mentally blocked it out having been the last person to see her alive and remembering more of their encounter. We’ve seen there’s no trust in the Bevis/Dan relationship but that didn’t stop Bevis accepting his proposal. The row in the Angie’s Den toilet could prove to be their undoing. We know from the finale that Gary is in fact alive.

Series 6 will see the first DS Enders wedding, whether it goes ahead or not I couldn’t possibly say. But Dan & Bevis have pledged to leave the Square for good once married, will they see that plan through? Their failure to retrieve the murder weapon could also prove crucial. I liked that it was Sharon, the half-sister of Emily, that stopped dan getting it. Remember that he knocked down Denny when he was haunted by memories of Emily. Carol Hanley, as teased, will herald the next strand of this story.

Sharon/Phil:

Series 5 saw Phil diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and the primary focus was on the initial diagnosis. The shock that comes with that and the affect it has on the immediate family and friends. I wouldn’t have dreamed of tackling this story last year but situations change and you never know what’s around the corner. They say to write what you know and I’m a firm believer in that.

The opening of the next series will see Phil a month into his treatment and will allow us to explore the story further. It’ll also be a big one for Sharon with her biological mother showing up unaware the daughter she gave up for adoption is living on the Square. Sharon will stick by him despite the Dennis reveal, she’s not one to break her promises and she knows he’ll be needing all the support he can get. She’s the matriarch of DS Enders and now she’s got her brothers and mother to interact with which will cement her at the heart of the drama and show where Sharon should be.

Toni/Los.kav:

These two featured in the first 2 hander. It’s been very much a slow burner with both characters facing their demons in previous series. Toni returned to the Square to find her ex-lover and best friend at it in the bath she slit her wrists in, she failed to get the receptionist job at the doctor’s surgery but her birthday saw a change of fortunes for her. Los.kav finally feels accepted for who HE is. The community came together to fundraise his homeless shelter and as they did to support the opening of it.

These two will be moving in together at the start of the next series and will be working in the homeless shelter along with two others. They’ll be helping people down on their luck and it may also be a chance to introduce some new characters to keep the show fresh as we did with 0…O and Keyser last series as well as IanMandy’s mother, Evie. A curveball is coming for Toni which will put pressure on them. It’ll be like a devil in her ear and help us further explore their relationship. Overall, I’d hope they’re a couple we can really root for.

Nicnacs/Ken:

This story has been very much in the background before coming to the forefront in the series finale. Paula is a mass manipulator and abuser who can work any situation to her advantage. Nicnacs has been unlucky in love before hitting it off with married Ken. Will she regret the day she met him?

We ended with Paula falling down the stairs and we’ll see that she’s been quietly plotting whilst recovering. There’s no way she’s going to let them live happily ever after. Can anyone make her see sense? I couldn’t possibly say.

Shirley:

Shirley was boosted by the arrival of her brother and his family. She also found out her ex has cancer and dyed her hair pink for a while. We saw at the end of the series that Dean is lurking. How will he react to his mother being landlady of the local and will it spell the end of her time as landlady? We’re going to strip her bare (Oh I say!) as she confronts her demons and tries to move on and stop being defined by her past.

EPISODE ONE 75/100:

The series opens with dullagj staring at the calendar hanging on the kitchen fridge. Janine’s making some coffee and asks what him to fetch her the milk. He says it’s June 24th today but Janine doesn’t realise the significance. “It’s a year today since my sister was last seen alive” he states before going for a walk. A frustrated Janine gets the milk herself.

Dan stares at the carpet where Emily’s dead body lay, his mind reliving him hitting her over the head.

Sez urges Dean to go and see Shirley and give his mum another chance but she gets a bigger shock when he informs her he’s got a job on the Square working in Roxy’s salon. Back at the pub, Mick asks Shirley when her birthday is but she won’t tell him spitting that she doesn’t celebrate birthdays.

Sorcha takes Eddy for a walk to the ducks but she soon finds herself at TK’s grave.

Vaslav attends his counselling appointment, his third one. The counsellor gives him the chance to open up in the hope of relaying his fears about stepping outside. “I just wanted to moderate and I ended up being beaten to a pulp. I don’t feel like I can be who I am anymore. I have to change to suit conform to other people’s ideas of normal. I’m too out there for them and they don’t know how to deal with me….I make people feel uncomfortable” he weeps.

Bevis is on the stall. Seeing dullagj, he fixes his eyes in the other direction. Dullagj stops looking at the t-shirts. Bevis greets him unable to avoid him any longer. Dan is busy getting a pep talk from Pact Coffee supervisor, dublintvfan. Dullagj begins to talk about Emily, Bevis becoming visibly uncomfortable. When he mentions it’s a year today, Bevis doesn’t take in anymore of the conversation having forgotten the date. Dullagj leaves the stall and buys flowers from Tracey to place at dan’s place.

Also tonight, O…O is acting like a right diva on the market accusing Winston of selling her a dodgy cassette tape. Mo Mouse is still in Geraldine’s bad books having asked a hot woman to ‘coucher avec lui’ in France, he proclaimed that he thought it meant a kiss on each cheek but she was having none of it. Nancy and Abi bond over getting their heads stuck in railings and having a horny dog. Vald agrees that Toni can move in with her and Los.

Sez tells Dean he’s going to run into her at some point. Dean says it ain’t Sez’s problem. Sez says now that he’s working on the Square, it’d be handy to live nearby, “I’ve a room free at my flat. I’ve been looking for someone since Priscilla moved out.” Dean says he’ll think about it before going to Roxy’s.

Bevis asks dan if he realises what day it is. Dan says he hasn’t got time for one of his cryptic conversations, he’s under pressure from his boss to make more sales. Bevis says it’s a year since the housewarming but is thrown when dan is fully aware. Bevis asks why he didn’t say anything. Dan, “I didn’t want to trench it all up again…you don’t forget the day your live changes forever although you obviously do.”

Sharon goes to the Arches to make sure Phil is taking it easy, him refusing to rest. She finds him doing the books and whispers if he remembered to take his hormone tablets. He says he couldn’t taste his lunch, Sharon says she’ll pop to the Minute Mart to get him some pineapple. Dean passes her.

Sorcha lights a candle for TK and takes time to pray whilst visiting the church.

Dullagj watches from the War Memorial as Dan and Bevis arrive home to find flowers laid outside their front door. Dan jokes they’re probably laid by that witch that runs the local for Hev. Bevis reads the accompanying message, “To a dear sister who was taken from us too soon, gone but NEVER forgotten.” Dan looks round and sees dullagj. He tells Bevis to go on in and get dinner started. Bevis asks him not to do anything stupid but he doesn’t answer. Not trusting him, Bevis follows.

Vaslav pays the cabbie before making his way inside hurriedly. Scrabbler and Skye ask him how he got in but he’s still quiet in himself. He gulps, “Tomorrow I’m going to the pub if you two would care to join me.” Vaslav takes his magnesium to help with his anxiety as Scrabbler and Skye smile at each other.

Sharon’s coming out of the Minute Mart with a pineapple in both arms. Shirley stubs out a fag before looking her up and down. “Nice pair” she quips. Sharon snipes that they’re for Phil. Shirley says he never ate pineapple when he was with her. “Well that’s a long time ago now, isn’t it Shirley?” Mona emerges interrupting them, she gives Sharon dirty look as if it’s a reflex action she doesn’t even have to think about, before telling Sharon she has to come inside, it’s urgent. Shirley tells Shazza she’s gotta go, she’s a pub to run. Sharon whispers ‘into the ground’ as she heads off. Shirley is stunned to find Dean behind the bar pulling himself a pint, he looks up smiling “Remember me.”

Dan spits at dullagj that he’s no proof grabbing him by the collar. Dullag laughs his reaction says otherwise, Bevis stating to lay off him while tugging at dan’s back. Dullagj asks if he’s going to do what he did with his siblings, get the full set? Bevis is unnerved when dan says he’s done him a favour getting rid of them two nuisances, he should enjoy his cushy little life instead of sticking his nose where it’s not wanted. Dan storms off, Bevis goes to Beales Plaice on dan’s orders wondering what exactly he did with Gary. Dullagj catches his breath before making a phonecall…”Mum….I need to see you…”

EPISODE TWO 76/100:


Crying For No Reason plays over the opening sequence which sees Shirley sitting alone in the dark pub in her dressing gown, half a glass of voddy in front of her. She wipes away a tear as she looks at a picture of Carly, Dean and Kevin from 2006, one Denise gave her. A worried mona can’t sleep either feeling Shirley’s pain. She goes downstairs and puts a comforting arm around her. Shirley bursts into tears in her arms unable to keep it in any longer. Across the Square, dullagj sits at his front door in need of some fresh air. Phil also lies awake in bed his mind racing. As the music comes to end, we see Maurice out for his morning jog. He stops to take a breather outside sorcha’s.

Sharon tries to put sun cream on Denny as he heads off on his school trip but he won’t let her put any on his face. He asks if he can have a haircut stating some of the school kids mistake him for a girl, she says he can if he lets her put the sun cream on his face but he still refuses and runs out the door to catch up with Roxy and Amy. Sharon catches her breath as she exhales to Ronnie that’s why she keeps his hair long.

Janine’s making breakfast as dullag enters the kitchen. She says she heard him pottering about the house last night “It was so hard to sleep with the heat last night, I must get some air conditioning in the bedroom.” Dullagj remains quiet before opening up about yesterday’s events to an inquisitive Janine.

Dan’s got the day off and tells Bevis he’s going to spend it organising stuff for the upcoming wedding. He asks who they’re going to have as best men. Bevis sighs that he would’ve chosen IanMandy. Dan tells him not to start, he had enough of that yesterday “Do you think you’d survive in prison? Do you? IanM will get an easy sentence anyway cos he’s gone in the head.” Bevis storms off to work saying not everyone gets a weekday off. “Today looks like a good day to top up your tan although no doubt Bianca will be counting her freckles again” dan quips. Bevis states he’s not fooling him by keeping busy and they need to talk later.

It’s nearly opening time and Shirley is still wallowing in her own self-pity. Mona tells her she doesn’t want Mick to see her like this and hands her some tablets for her hangover. Shirley cries that seeing Dean again has brought back a lot of bad memories. Mona assures her he’s back to reconnect with her, why else would he come back here? “This is a chance to prove your haters wrong, make up for being a lousy mum to him” she states. Shirley laughs, a tear rolling down her face “You don’t get it, do you? He’s back to ruin me, he blames me for everything and won’t be happy until I’m back in the gutter.” Mona shakes her head defiantly telling her she’s wrong. Then, there’s a knock on the door…

Klen sees Maurice stretching at the railings of the Square Gardens asking since when did he exercise? Maurice states he wants to get in shape for summer whilst asking if he wants to come round tonight to watch the footie, “Or are you too afraid to step into the house of horrors on George Street?” he laughs. Klen says he’ll be round and that they need to go on the pull this weekend, it’s been too long! Maurice gets a text from Los about tonight’s head count on the streets as he jogs home.

Sharon hands Jay the keys to the Arches telling him this is his time to step up. She’s trusting him with keeping it running over as Phil’s going to be weak and tired a lot of the time “You know what he’s like. He’s headstrong and proud. You need to be the boss.” Jay nods and smiles nervously as he heads off to work. Sharon goes up to check on Phil and finds him lying awake on the bed. He says he couldn’t sleep last night, his mind was racing and his naps yesterday didn’t help. Sharon comforts him telling him Ronnie’s taking him to his radiotherapy as she’s flat out at the club today, “I bumped into Shirley yesterday. I swear that woman brings out the worst in me. Don’t worry, I didn’t tell her. The last thing we want is her making it all about herself.”

Also tonight, O…O enjoys the good weather out fishing on her boat. Mo Mouse types ‘Cheap Female Escorts’ into his search engine ‘Oogle’. Lucy anxiously awaits a reply from her boyfriend. Paula tries to find out Ken’s new address having failed to press charges against Nicnacs.

Dullagj says that he hasn’t heard back from his mother but she needs to know the truth about Emily. Janine replies that he doesn’t know that yet though. He states he knows who did it and that she’s dead, he just can’t prove it. Over at Roxy’s, Dean is styling Sez’s hair and tells her he’d like to avail of her spare room if it’s still free. Sez smiles from ear to ear.

On the market, everyone’s struggling with the heat. Bianca screeches it’s a sin that people have to work in this weather. Kat sunbathes on a beach chair not lifting a finger. Business is booming for Bevis with his new t-shirts flying of the stands. Tracey is being attacked by insects left, right and centre at the flower stall and spends most of her day swatting flies with her swatter. Dublintvfan continues to observe the Pact Coffee stall but new worker, Harlowe, doesn’t have the sales prowess of dan.

Shirley watches from the top window as Ronnie drives Phil to the hospital to in the Range Rover. Mick enters asking if she’s still worried about Dean telling her he’ll string him up if he puts a foot out of line. Mona is shocked to find out from Sez down in the bar that Dean’s moving in with her and has got a job in the salon. Vaslav makes his way over to the pub for lunch, Skye in one arm and Scrabbler in the other.

Denise remarks how worn out Sharon looks when she enters the Minute Mart. It begins to darken outside. Sharon’s unsure whether or not to confide in her but she puts her trust in her as Ian’s partner. Denise is shocked when she informs her of Phil’s cancer and how he’s being undergoing treatment for a month now. Sharon holds back the tears as she says she’s trying to be strong but it all gets a bit much for her sometimes and she has a little cry in private. Denise gives her a hug.

Umbrella plays as it begins to bucket outside, thunder and heavy rain. The market workers take cover as Sharon waits in the shop for it to pass. A car pulls up outside Janine’s. A pink umbrella shoots up as a woman gets out the passenger side and runs to the door. She shakes off the umbrella, before knocking on the door. Lucy stands outside her house, mascara running down her face. Ian calls her but she ignores him and walks off, him cursing her. Jay and Abi are standing in the playground kissing passionately having made up over a mundane row. Maurice is at the homeless shelter but his mind is elsewhere as he looks out at the pouring rain and passer-by’s scrambling to shelter. Dullagj is busy looking through the Emily files as Janine gets the door assuming it’s her skivvy, Billy. Janine answers the door. The woman greets her as Carol, Carol Hanley…Jon’s mother. Janine stares at her.

Carol Hanley makes her way into the living room. An oblivious dullagj is sitting at the table trying to see if he can uncover something that the police might have missed in the Emily case, he looks around in disbelief as his mother stands looking at him. He leaps up and hugs her tightly having not seen her since she turned her back on him when he became hooked on heroin, “I didn’t think you’d come.”

Sharon’s making dinner in the Mitchell kitchen wanting Phil to come home to a home cooked meal. Her phoning is buzzing with messages from Ben Dover who has only been left in charge for an hour while she takes her break. A soaked Jay enters. Sharon tells him to get out of the clothes before he catches a cold but he’s already coughing. Sharon states that it’s dangerous for Phil to catch a cold, inquiring if he could stay at Billy’s for a few nights. Jay sighs, rubbing his head, stating that he didn’t think. Sharon tells him not to worry about it, “Those downpours come out of nowhere. I’m just afraid he’s going to catch something with the amount of people roaming around this house. I’m trying to persuade Ronnie and Roxy to get their own place.”

Lucy returns to work upset and David picks up on it. Handing her a towel to dry herself down, he puts on the kettle telling her she can open up to her uncle is she wants. Lucy tells him that the boy she was seeing has broken up with her by text. David says he obviously wasn’t worth it then and she’s well shot of him. He then proceeds to reminisce about her mother, “I remember telling her that I’d try and get you when she was doing a runner with the boys” he laughs.

Carol Jackson has run out of change in the café after the mad rush during the thunderstorm and goes to the Minute Mart for some. Denise asks if she’s heard about Phil but she hasn’t. Denise fills her in adding that she doesn’t like the man but she wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Carol nods before rushing back across to the café.

Shirley decides to hold a Summer themed night at The Gutter but it’s really just an excuse to wear sunglasses to disguise her hangover and hide her tears. Mona watches Linda and Mick jiving to ‘Summer Lovin'’ in a quandary whether or not she should tell Shirley about Dean, not wanting to be the constant breaker of bad news or wanting her to go on another bender. Priscilla arrives for work in a bikini, the men unsure where to avert their eyes.

Carol H. sits down at the table beside him. Dullagj’s unsure what to say to her and introduces her to Janine. She’s surprised to learn she has a baby, looking at him worriedly. She asks if she’s finally been made a granny but he awkwardly tells her that she’s from a previous relationship. Dullagj changes the subject stating that Gary said she hasn’t been well but there’s another knock on the door…

Los calls off the head count for the night stating that they’re too busy at the shelter to go on the food run. He’s had to call all workers in; Toni, Maurice, Jake and himself, as word gets around about their service. Los is touched by the story of the woman who lost her home leading to her kids to be taken into care.

Ian is jealous when he sees Lucy confiding in David. She leaves as he enters making Ian even more frustrated. Ian reluctantly asks how he got through to her. David says he just talked to her “It just boy problems. She probably doesn’t want to talk about that with her old man.” Ian sighs “She never wants to talk to me full stop. I try to get the balance right between being a father and a friend and I end up being neither.” David tells him she’s just at that age, at least he’s there for his kids unlike he was. Ian enquires about Joe as the brothers bond over their kids.

Gary enters the living room to dullagj’s surprise and dismay, “I thought you were dead?” he utters. Gary laughs stating that he decided he had to go and make it up to his dear mother. **kissing her on the forehead before looking at dullag* His mum asks Gary a question, “What’s this I hear about you telling your brother I was sick?” Dullag laughs stating that whatever he did, he hasn’t changed “If only you knew what he’s been getting up to around here!” Gary gives him a death stare before pondering aloud if Janine would still be with him she knew the truth. The brothers proceed to tussle on the living room floor…

Phil’s not hungry when he gets back and goes for a lie down. Sharon bites her tongue when she sees he’s only in a t-shirt. Ronnie tells her he got on alright, he’s just a bit down in himself. Over at Billy’s, Abi feels like a gooseberry with Jay and Lola.

Sez informs Priscilla she has a no flatmate but she’s floored when she tells her it’s Dean. A worried Priscilla tells her to be careful stating she doesn’t want her to get hurt like last time, “Remember Michael?” A smitten Sez smiles assuring her Dean’s nothing like Michael. Over the other side of the pub, Vaslav is trying to get Scrabbler to dance with him but he point blank refuses joking “My operation wasn't very successful. They attached a second left foot to go with the first.” Skye comments on Shirley’s drunk dancing, “ I've seen better rhythm from a wounded moose. “

Carol calls to Bianca on the way home from work to see if she wants her to feed the kids again. She finds her and Kat sorting stock at the kitchen table. Bianca says that she got a big bag of frozen chicken dippers of Mo for £5 that should do them a couple of days. Carol asks if she heard about Phil, Bianca smirks when she realises it’s about his cancer thinking it was something new, “I ‘erd about that weeks ago. Whit overheard Dot talking Lola in the Laundrette.”

Carol tells dullagj that Gary has told her all about Emily and she’s here for a while. Janine goes to the shop for some milk bumping into Sharon who’s going back to work. They get talking and Janine informs her that dullagj’s mother has rocked up which takes Sharon aback.

COMING THURSDAY:

EPISODE FOUR 78/100:

Sharon goes to the café for a morning coffee struggling to keep her eyes open. She’s greeted by a sympathetic Carol Jackson who tells her she’s sorry to hear about Phil. Sharon’s eyes pop and her head tilts as she asks who told her. Carol says there’s talk going about but it was Denise who informed her when she was in the Minute Mart yesterday, “My mum died of cancer. I’m always on the lookout for lumps cos they say it can be genetic, can’t it?” Carol looks up to see Sharon hasn’t waited for her change.

Mona waits outside Roxy’s for it to open. Over at Janine’s, Carol H. wakes up having spent the night in the spare room. Dullagj is downstairs in the kitchen with Janine, he says it’s a bit surreal having his mum back in his life. Janine tells him to make the most of it and not hold grudges as she’d do anything to have had her mum for longer, “My mum died of cancer when I was 3 years old. I don’t remember anything about her, just what people have told me.” Dullagj takes a deep breath as his mum enters the room.

Dan’s talking numbers for the wedding when the subject of family is broached. Dan’s adamant he doesn’t want his there but Bevis is in two minds stating he’d like his to be there for the happiest day of his life. Dan heads off to work deleting his parent’s numbers from his phone…

Sharon storms over to the Minute Mart to give Denise what for. Helen’s working but Denise is in the back doing a stock take. Sharon says that she thought she could trust her, “I didn’t bank on you telling the whole Square.” Denise immediately apologises stating she just told Carol but Sharon hits back saying she’ll tell Bianca who’ll have the market told by day’s end. Sharon then breaks down, the stress of it all too much to bare.

Roxy is thrown to be verbally attacked by mona on her arrival to the salon. Mona berates her for employing Dean behind Shirley’s back. Roxy laughs in her face but then Dean arrives and takes the opportunity to find out more about his mother offering to give mona a makeover for free.

Also tonight, O…O arranges with market inspector, Tamwar, to have a fish stall on Fridays on the market starting tomorrow. Alfie opens all his fanmail…..another letter from RetroMusicFan. Denise puts up an advertisement for a market sweep on the Minute Mart window. Toni repeatedly rejects calls on her mobile whilst working in the shelter.

Carol H. and dullagj2 are having a catch-up in the living room. She states he looks a lot better than the last time she seen him, “You were emaciated. I didn’t know how to deal with you and thought a bit of tough love would do the trick. I’m thrilled you’ve got back on your feet.” Dullag cries that she abandoned him when he needed her most and recounts his overdose which almost ended his life. Carol begins to weep crying she thought about him every day hoping she’d hear from him but she never did not until Tuesday, “I didn’t know where to look. I had no contact number, you’d lost contact with all your friends cos they were her friends too. You’d as good as disappeared. I knew Emily was here and Gary found work here too, strange how yous were all drawn here.” They’re interrupted by a knock on the door. Dullagj rolls his eyes when he sees its Gary.

Denise offers Sharon a cuppa saying she’s always here to lend a sympathetic ear. Sharon kindly declines stating she’s got places to be but she’s glad they’ve sorted their differences. Once she’s left, Denise goes over to Carol to rebuke her for telling Sharon she told her, Carol remains stern stating the gossip’s already been spread.

Dean plays with mona’s hair as he interrogates her on Shirley’s goings on. She begins to feel uneasy as he adds distasteful remarks frequently throughout the conversation and goes to leave but Dean wants to know more questioning when Mick showed up and what’s the deal with him. Mona makes her excuses and leaves.

Gary is visibly envious that his brother and mother are reconnecting. Dullagj asks what he wants stating that he and mum have a lot of catching up to do. Gary spits that she came here to get justice for Emily. Carol cuts in telling them to quit bickering, it’s just the three of them now and they have to stick together. Carol walks towards the window. Peering out onto the Square, she notices the safety blinds in place. She looks at dullagj knowingly. Gary cracks again spouting that he hasn’t told Janine the truth though, the truth about what happened to his child.

Bevis rings his mum from the stall. She’s surprised to hear from him. After the frivolities, he gets down to business and tells her he’s getting married leaving her speechless. She proceeds to question him on the man in question afraid he’s rushing into marriage but he states outright that he’s in love and will be getting married with or without her blessing but he’d like the family to be there.

Shirley remarks that mona has had her hair done but she can’t bring herself to tell her about Dean, torn over what to do. She asks Shirl if she’s heard from him but she replies that she hasn’t since he popped up behind the bar. Back at Janine’s, Gary gives dullagj an ultimatum when their mum goes upstairs to the bathroom; tell Janine about his dead child or he will!

Sharon is sitting at the Mitchell kitchen table staring into space when Ronnie walks in. Ronnie notices that something is amiss and asks if she’s ok. Sharon states that things are getting on top of her at the moment and she’s in a bit of a pickle. Ronnie assumes she’s talking about Phil but Sharon then drops the bombshell that her biological mother is on the Square and she doesn’t know what to do.

Ronnie gets the duff duff.

EPISODE FIVE 79/100:

Sharon gives Phil breakfast in bed along with his tablets. She jokes it’s a good job it’s not her who has to take the tabs but he’s still half asleep. Downstairs, Ronnie’s sitting alone at the kitchen table with Roxy on the school run and Jay gone to work early. Ronnie asks her if she’s told Phil about her mother as she enters the kitchen to make herself something to eat.

Dullagj runs into Gary on his way to nursery with Scarlett. Gary tells him he has until the end of the day but dullagj hits back stating that Janine’s paying for the private investigator, without her they won’t get justice for Emily “Is that what you want? Do you want that on your conscience?”

Dan’s phone rings continuously on his bedside locker waking Bevis who’s still asleep. He wakes to the sound of the shower. Seeing dan’s phone vibrating, he stretches over to see a series of missed calls from an unknown number. As dan enters to get dressed, Bevis asks if he’s been in contact with his family to a bemused dan.
Toni is still acting suspiciously. She tells Los she’s going early to the shelter to see how the new volunteers are getting on but she walks in the opposite direction where we eventually see her give some soup to a homeless man.

Scrabbler tells vaslav there’s a sweeper job going on the market leaving vas shell-shocked that he’d even suggest it to him, “I still can’t leave the house alone and you think I should work in a sea of strangers! That’s my worst nightmare Scrabs!” he cries. Scrabbler is firm with him saying he can’t keep hiding away in the house. Vaslav asks for a job at EEHQ with puppy dog eyes…

Sharon tells Ronnie she didn’t want to burden it onto him still unsure if her mother even wants to get in contact or knows she’s living on the Square, “I’m afraid of being rejected again but I’m also afraid that I’ll regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t approach her.” Ronnie says that she should go for it stating life’s too short to spend it fretting over things. They connect over their respective tragedies on the Square, Sharon adding that her sister may have also been killed here, and how Phil’s cancer has brought them closer as a family. Ronnie’s pensive before nodding with tearful eyes, “Sometimes it takes an awful situation to bring people together. You might have never seen your mum again if your sister hadn’t died or disappeared.”

Bevis tells dan that he got in contact with his mum yesterday. Just as Bevis is about to leave for work, he gets a call from Evie to tell him that IanMandy will be pleading insanity and a trial date has been set for early August in which she’d like him and dan to give him a positive character reference…

Also tonight, O…O opens her fish stall stinking out the market. Paula finally tracks Ken down and heads to confront him and his mistress. Mo Mouse goes for a haircut after an unsuccessful trawling of escort websites. Kat receives a postcard from Zoe containing her new number asking her to get in contact.

Carol Jackson’s talking to Bianca and Kat on the market filling them in on Sharon having a go at Denise for telling her about Phil. Bianca’s scoffs that Sharon should get off her high horse but Kat is more empathetic stating she can understand her upset at Denise betraying her trust. Sharon is passing by the pub when they hush. As Carol walks off, Bianca screeches her name having forgot to ask her to mind the kids tonight. Sharon looks round frantically to see if her mother is in sight, she becomes a bit lightheaded uncertain what exactly she’ll look like after 20+ years and sits abruptly on the bench outside the pub. After a few minutes, she regains her composure and heads to the club.

Dan finally answers his phone. It’s big dan who’s got another case for the dans to sort. There’s a Multiple Account Holder impersonating members on the forum and spreading vitriol about EastEnders who needs to be stopped. He asks if he can meet them at the Square Gardens tomorrow. Dan is apprehensive and reluctantly agrees. Back on the market, Ian fumes at O…O for opening on his patch and she proceeds to through a stinky kipper at him. Ian squeals that he’ll do her for assault, is it love at fish sight?

Scrabbler has given into Vaslav, giving him the chance to prove his worth. He sees Skye’s training to be a script writer and wants to do the same. Scrabbler states he’s got a vacancy for him on the story team. Vas rolls up his sleeves ready to get down to business, he informs a horrified EEFanatic that he's got story ideas for Cora and Sharon and wants to be in charge of all things LGEM (Lesbian, Gays & Ethnic Minorities) Mo Mouse goes to Roxy’s for a haircut. Dean and himself get acquainted and revel in their disdain of Shirley Carter.

Sharon takes the opportunity to talk to dullagj whilst he’s cleaning the bogs. She says she hears his mum is in town. He nods stating she’s sticking around for a while with the Emily trial only 6 weeks away. Carol H. is walking through the Square Gardens with Gary. She says she wants to go to the police station to talk to those investigating the case, introduce herself but he tells her to leave them be, she’d be better talking to their private investigator.

Lovers of the Sun blasts on the market. Dan is surprised to hear Bevis hasn’t heard about the dan meeting tomorrow. Bevis stares when he sees Gary. Shocked to see he’s still alive, he can’t help but smile as he feels a mixture of emotions, his brain still registering it. Gary purposely buys a coffee at dan’s stall. Dan says it’s good to see him alive and well, he did a disappearance Houdini would be proud of. Gary tells him to meet his mother, pointing at the woman adjacent to him whose scanning the market.

Toni and Maurice are on the food run together as night falls. Maurice remarks how he wishes he didn’t have such a tenacious memory. Toni states she’s relying on his memory for the head count as she forgot her ballpoint pen, “I wish I could titillate myself.” Maurice laughs, “Don’t you mean titivate.” Toni continues walking but is gobsmacked by who she sees. We see Paula knocking continuously on a door beside the salon whilst shouting that she knows they’re in there. Toni stares at her before shouting, ‘Mum!’, taken aback by the state she’s in. A disorientated Paula stares back at her.

Toni gets the duff duff.

EPISODE SIX 80/100:

Emily is rowing with her mother in the living room wanting to know more about the sister she didn’t know she had. An emotional Carol gives in and explains why she had to give her up. Emily is full of questions and wants to know everything her mum knows. Emily continues to bombard her asking where she lives? Carol tells her that she got in contact over 20 years ago, “I was carrying you at the time. She could be anywhere.” Emily demands to know where she was living promising not to tell her brothers who are oblivious. Carol mutters it, Emily writing it down on her hand. Carol wakes up suddenly, sitting upright she begins to cry knowing she’ll never see her daughter again.

Bevis wants to talk about Emily’s mother but dan tells him to keep his cool, promising they won’t be living round here much longer. Dan prepares his packed lunch and heads off to the Square gardens where he’s met by all the dans, one of whom is trying to figure out what the wooden shed is behind Arthur’s bench. They head to a cybercafé in the hope of hacking into the troll’s computer.

Toni’s on edge as she goes to meet her mum who’s residing in the B&B unbeknownst to Los. She checks in at the homeless shelter where a tired Maurice reassures her he won’t say anything to Los. Kim is amused to find out Paula is Toni’s mother when she arrives at the B&B. Toni fears she may have filled her mum in on her time on the Square and is on tenterhooks as she asks when she can come to her place and meet her boyfriend…

Priscilla and sorcha ponder over whether or not to head out tonight. Priscilla says its been ages and she’s been single for too long, “It’s not often Shirley lets me off on a Saturday night.” Sorcha has been won round easily and texts Abi to see if she can babysit tonight. Over at the pub, mona walks in on a pensive Mick in the Gutter kitchen. Mona asks if it’s about Dean. He smiles stating, “You been to get your barnet done ‘n all.”

Carol H. wants to go the police station more than ever now after her nightmare last night, wanting to put her mind at rest. Gary agrees to go with her, dullagj joking that Gary and the police station are well acquainted. Once there, she meets DC Wilder who is now over the case.

Mo Mouse almost chokes on his peanut butter sandwich when he sees Geraldine’s last credit card bill. She bursts out laughing at the sheer shock on his face but mo doesn’t find it one bit funny and warns her not to underestimate him, ‘A lot of people have done that over the years. Where are they now? Exactly.’

Also tonight, Kat’s overjoyed to hear Zoe’s voice but she can’t afford to go and see her so asks Zoe to come visit them. Klendathu texts Maurice to see if he’s still up for tonight. Benbenalen celebrates his promotion to detective. O…O and Keyser cause a racket upstairs leaving Ian at his wits end down in the chippie.

The dan’s find some surprising results when they find out the troll is a PBU (Previously Banned User) who is out for revenge. Dan has to leave the café momentarily as it brings back memories of Emily. He composes himself and re-enters saying he thinks they should leave this one to the police. Big dan says that it won’t be like the last time, that was Bevis’ fault ‘He sent us on a wild goose chase cos he had a crush on you. That’s why he wasn’t invited.’ Dan is gobsmacked.

Toni tells her mum she doesn’t want to rush into things. Paula exclaims that it was her who got in touch in the first place. ‘You only wanted to know when I said I was seeing a man. Five years….five years it’s been since you turned your back on me. I call the shots. Who were you screaming at last night anyway?’ Paula’s quiet before hissing that her second husband has run off with a hussy. Toni lies to Los when he rings to see where she is.


Night falls and Angie’s Den is buzzing. Angel In Blue Jeans plays in the background as Priscilla talks about Sez’s attraction to creeps. Klendathu and Maurice walk in. Sorcha goes to leave but she tells her they were here first. Klen gets chatting to Lucy who’s on her lonesome. She tells him Lauren has ditched her now she’s got another bloke on the go, “She’s probably afraid I’ll steal him in revenge for Joey.” Klen asks how a beautiful girl like her is single. “My last bloke dumped me by text so I’m aiming for the more mature man…” she mentions. He continues to try and woo her while sorcha looks enviously at the female attention Maurice is receiving.

Mo Mouse is cruising along Walford’s hottest pick up stop when he is astounded to see Mr. Ender touting for business. He puts down the window for him telling him to hop in. Mr. Ender states outright that he prefers his punters to be anonymous. Mouse quips he’s a married man and is taking him home. Ender shouts for him to stop the car stating this is his source of income, who is he to judge him? Mo mouse is having none of it and continues driving leading Ender to try and open the door. He leaps out onto the footpath and makes a run for it.

Dullagj2 shows Carol through the files the private investigator gave him. Talk soon turns to his life again, he says he cleans the local nightclub but it’s better than nothing. She’s taken aback to find out his boss is called Sharon. Over at the pub, Mick is debating with mona when to tell her agreeing it’s best she hears it from them, ‘Good to see we’re on the same Elaine.’ Mick goes downstairs but he can’t find her. Sez informs him that she told Shirley. Checking the till, he sees there’s only a pony left….

A tired Mr. Ender struggles for breath and collapses with fatigue.

EPISODE SEVEN 81/100:

Phil’s sucking on some pineapple as he prepares to eat his second helping of breakfast. Sharon heads out to pick up his prescription, kissing him on the forehead as she exits. Ronnie sits staring into space beside him, her mind elsewhere. Phil asks if she knows when Jay’s moving back in. Ronnie replies, “How am I supposed to know? You work with him!” and leaves the kitchen.

Mona’s on edge in The Gutter living room, shaking continuously as she frets about Shirley’s whereabouts. Mick enters and sees the state she’s in and realises his sister still hasn’t returned home. He reassures mona and tells her if she’s not home by lunchtime, he’ll send out a search party.

Dean’s on his way to work and as he takes a left turn off the market, he catches his mum on the right slumped outside Angie’s Den. He stares hatefully at her and continues walking. Shirley looks at him helplessly with teary eyes. Sharon passes and notices the mess she’s in.

Mo mouse calls round to the B&B first thing to see Mr. Ender. He refuses to let him in but he threatens to tell Kim all about his night shifts if he doesn’t open the door immediately. Mo’s eye is caught by Paula who passes in her silk nightie and he can’t help but stare at her luscious legs. Mr. Ender reluctantly lets him in.

Also tonight, O…O and Keyser are threatened with eviction by an irate Ian and seek revenge on his car. Dan heads out early to work leaving Bevis at a crux to what he’s done wrong this time. Carol’s suspicious when her daughter, Bianca, starts flashing the cash. Dot is happy to have some company around the house again in the form of Gary.

Phil and Jay are working in The Arches. Phil asks Jay when he’s moving back in. Jay stutters unsure himself, “Abi was going to ask Max if I can move in with them as it’s just him and her there whereas yours is a bit crowded at the moment.” Phil nods saying he’s welcome back at his whenever. Phil texts Sharon to see if she got the pills, he then goes into images and stares at an old picture of Ben and Louise.

Sharon takes Shirley into the club. She tells her to go into the toilets and wash her face whilst she gets her some water. When Shirley doesn’t emerge, Sharon enters to find her staring at herself in the mirror. ‘Look at me…I’m a mess!’ Sharon places a comforting hand on her shoulder and asks her if this is about her son. Shirley fills her in on their past and how she abandoned him when he was a baby, ‘He hates me’ she cries. Sharon holds her as she sobs into her arms, ‘You need to stop bottling things up Shirley. Talk to him and see what he has to say. If he doesn’t want to know then you have to accept that.’

Mo urges Mr. Ender to go to the doctor saying he’s not well. Mr. Ender laughs it off saying he’s just got a weak immune system and could do with eating better and sleeping longer. Mo asks him just to get checked out, adding that you can pick up things sleeping around and he’s better safe than sorry. Mo rings the doctor’s surgery and the receptionist tells him Lotty is free in an hour.

Toni asks Maurice if he knows who lives above the salon but he’s too busy looking through old pictures of him and sorcha together on his phone. She’s then preoccupied with someone who’s having withdrawal symptoms from alcohol. The woman cries that she didn’t become addicted until after she ended up on the streets. Toni calls in Los to help her, him knowing exactly what she was going through having been an alcoholic himself. Toni wanders off to get more supplies but takes a detour into the salon…

Mick thanks Sharon for taking Shirley home. Mona just looks at her, spitting to Blue that she bets she loved seeing Shirley in the gutter, ‘I hope Mo mouse didn’t see her.’ Shirley goes up to bed to sleep off her hangover. Over at the salon, Toni asks Dean who lives in the salon flat. The woman he’s tending to turns round uttering ‘I do.’ Toni recognises her as ilovenicnacs.

Mouse accompanies Mr. Ender to the surgery to make sure he attends his appointment. He urges him to tell Lotty everything. Mr. Ender keeps his word and is open with Lotty about his work and the symptoms he’s been having. She orders a blood test to see if it shows anything up. Lotty calls him back in 20 minutes later to tell him he’s tested positive for HIV. Mr. Ender looks on in disbelief before bursting out crying.

Toni can’t believe what nicnacs is telling her, wondering if they’re talking about the same woman. Nicnacs tells her all about her mother’s abuse of Ken and how she even use to lock him in the garden shed. She had to help him escape the toxic relationship. Toni weeps that she’s going to sort this out once and for all! Nicnacs invites Dean to her party tomorrow which is in the pub.

Phil thanks Sharon for dropping off his pills but when she leaves he’s overwhelmed with a sudden burst of heat. He unbuttons the top of shirt as he sweats and his ticker beats rapidly, his face reddened by the heat. As it passes, he throws a spanner against the car and falls to the ground in tears.

EPISODE EIGHT 82/100:

Mr. Ender lies awake in his bed, his eyes full of tears as he ponders what his future holds. The doctor surgery’s number rings on his mobile which sits on his bedside locker but he doesn’t answer it.

Ian’s morning goes from bad to worse when he finds his car has been damaged and he’s got an important meeting with his suppliers. He drops it at The Arches telling Jay he’ll give him a tip if he has it ready by the end of the day.

Mona pulls Shirley’s curtains determined to get her out of this self-hating, pitiful rut. Shirley squints her eyes as the light shines in. Mona pulls the covers off telling her they’ve a party to prepare, Mick’s taking over the whole family over to help get the place ship shape.

Toni messes with her cereal still reeling from yesterday’s revelations. She hasn’t told Los she’s back in contact with her mother yet but he can sense something is up. He asks her if she’s had any trouble at the shelter but she assures him that everything is fine. She texts her mum, anxious that she’s with her tonight before visiting Ken, the stepdad she’s never met.

Gary calls to Janine’s to see his mother. He’s jealous as he enters the living room to see her and dullagj playing happy families with Scarlett. Gary takes dullagj aside asking to see the files the private investigator gave him. Dullagj refuses making Gary even more frustrated. Gary sternly tells him that they have to find something, anything to pin this on dan, “How do you think mum will feel when she finds out we’ve let our sister’s killer roam free? We have to find some evidence, he has to have slipped up somewhere. I can’t take him lording it up on the market much longer. How is it fair that he carries on with his life while an innocent man takes the blame?” Dullagj thwarts him, stating that they were taken back.

Also tonight, having enjoyed getting revenge on Beale, Keyser sets his sights on Phil. Dan’s still giving Bevis the silent treatment. Bianca bumps into Janine who accuses her of robbing someone when a wad of cash falls out of her jacket but she screeches it’s her stall’s float. Harlowe asks dublintvfan for more shifts on the coffee stall but he hasn’t got any to give her.

Mick and mona are pleased to see Shirley back on her feet. Shirley cries in the kitchen as her guard drops, Linda pleas with her not to get snot all over the buffet. Mick comforts her promising that he’ll help to mend her relationship with Dean and tells her to lay off the ouse, “There’ll be no losers in this cruiser.”

Mo mouse visits Mr. Ender who’s at his lowest ebb following last night’s diagnosis. Ender tells him that he got no sleep, crying that his life is ruined. Mo asks if Lotty has got back in touch. He says he hasn’t talked to her since he ran out of the surgery last night. Mo urges him to go and see her saying it’s not the death sentence it used to be and he can still live a perfectly normal life. Ender asks if he can accompany him.

Phil’s having another bad day and orders Jay to leave the garage. He sits in Ian’s car, looking at a picture of Ben and Louise again. Ian arrives in hoping to find his car ready and shouts when he sees Phil slacking. He’s thrown when Phil turns around with tears in his eyes and sits down in the passenger seat. Ian tells him he knows about the cancer joking that he wouldn’t wish it on his worst enemy. Phil cries that it’s turning him into a woman, he’s having hot flushes and everything, “I have to take hormones which send the testosterone really low and the radiation makes me feel like sh!t.” Ian asks if he’s been in contact with Ben. Phil shakes his head saying he’d rather wait until he’s out of prison. On leaving, Ian says he’ll be back tomorrow for the car and he knows where he is if he needs someone to talk to.

Carol H. is in low spirits knowing tomorrow is Ron’s birthday. She goes out for a walk to get some fresh air as Gary raids Janine’s drink cabinet. Janine’s not happy when she arrives home to find him sloshed in her living room. Gary asks where his brother is. “He’s at a meeting with his methadone provider as they’re eager to try and wean him off it and he doesn’t feel ready yet. He shouldn’t have to come home to this. **pointing at the living room** You don’t even live here. Get out.” Gary laughs in her face stating she doesn’t know what she’s shacked up with, “You should ask him about his son.” Gary stumbles out the door with his bottle still in hand.

Everyone gathers in The Gutter for Ken and ilovenicnacs’ leaving party. Priscilla wishes nicnacs well, happy that she finally found love and tells her Sez should be along soon. Ken gleefully informs everyone of his new job in Newcastle **Geordie accent** and says he’s looking forward to settling down up there. Sez eventually does arrive with Dean in tow. Mona’s face drops as everyone looks at Shirley. Shirley gulps as she offers Dean a drink but he declines as he states he’s not there for her, she should stop making it all about herself. Bevis refuses to go until dan tells him why he’s giving him the cold shoulder. Dan goes himself leaving Bevis home alone in tears.

Mr. Ender feels better after his meeting with Lotty and thanks Mousey for all his help. Mo tells him to make sure he pops his pill every day. Mr. Ender says it’s been a wakeup call and he wants to return to his family, return to education and make a life for himself. Mo walks him to The Tube. Ender remembers his one night stand with Kirsty and asks Mo to write a note to Max in case he passed it onto Kirsty and she passed it onto Max. Mo waves him off telling him to keep in touch.

Everyone heads outside the pub to wave off Ken and nic nacs as they head for pastures new. Dean follows Shirley in the back to the kitchen. She’s taken aback when she turns around to see him standing there. Dean says Mick said she wanted to talk. Paula walks Toni to the taxi rank again asking to meet her new boyfriend. When she sees Ken and nicnacs being waved off she realises she’s been duped by Toni who holds her back warning her to let them go. Paula pulls Toni’s arm off her, hurting her in the process and runs after the cab, shouting at them to watch their backs. The crowd looks at her in bewilderment as they disperse.

Sharon’s running late for work and fixes her earrings as she makes her way through the Square Gardens. She bumps into a woman. She stops, lifting her head to apologise. She stares as if she recognises the face. The woman looks at her, also apologising. Sharon clocks who it is but waits for her to acknowledge her. Carol doesn’t speak, she just puts her arms out for a hug and they share an emotional one.

EPISODE NINE 83/100:

Sharon guides Carol back to hers and texts Ronnie to cover for her at the bar. She nervously opens the door and invites her sit in the living room while she puts on the kettle. She sits the keys on the kitchen table and fills the kettle before sticking it on. As she waits for it to boil, the intensity of the moment suddenly hits her and she sits down.

Toni sits on Arthur’s bench as she watches her mother turn around defeated. Her body is so lax that she struggles to carry herself. She makes it to the seat and sits down before berating Toni for letting her cheating husband waltz off into the sunset with his missus. Toni’s blood begins to boil as she looks at the stranger beside her whom she calls ‘mum.’

Shirley asks Dean why he’s taken a job on the Square. He smiles that he was in the area and the opportunity arose, ‘When were you planning on inviting me and Carly to your boozer?’ Shirley stutters saying there’s a room here if he wants it. Dean laughs at the cheek of her asking who the new surrogate child is, her Heather replacement? Shirley cuts to the chase and asks why he holds such resentment for her. Dean says she might want to sit down. Mona and Mick sit at the foot of the stairs eavesdropping, Mona’s knees nobbling.

Janine’s putting Scarlett to bed but Gary’s words still echo in her ears. She looks out the top window onto the Square. There’s still no sign of dullagj. She stares at the sky before dialling his number to see where he’s got to.

Sharon hands her birth mother the cup. She’s spotted the child’s toys and asks Sharon if she’s any children. Sharon states she has a son who’s 8. Carol holds back the tears crying she’s a granny and didn’t even know it. Sharon asks if she knew she was living on the Square. Carol replies that she knew she called here home but wasn’t sure if she still resided here. Sharon mentions she’s come into contact with her son, who works for her and it was then that she made the connection. They smile as they admit they both couldn’t face each other.

Toni asks Paula to look her in the eyes, ‘I’ve been talking to Ken. I know EVERYTHING. I’ve seen EVERYTHING! How could you? After what dad put you through, how could you?’ Paula begins to cry as she feels the earth crumble beneath her. She says she doesn’t know why, she lashed out once and it became a habit ‘he knew where he stood then and was too afraid to step out of line. I wasn’t going to have a repeat of my first marriage.’ Toni’s mouth opens in disbelief as she can’t believe the words coming out of her mouth, ‘So you BEAT him!’

Dullagj is greeted by a tipsy Gary by the Swings of Sorrow. Dullagj asks what he thinks he’s doing get half-cut, he knows it’s dad’s birthday tomorrow but it’s no excuse. Gary slurs that he thinks he’s got the perfect little life. He pulls at dullag’s arms, pulling back the sleeves ‘Once a junkie. Always a junkie. You can play happy families all you like but it won’t change that.’ Dullagj pulls Gary off him and goes to leave spouting he’s not the one in the gutter. Gary snipes that he told Janine all about his son….

Dean begins to vent his anger and frustration at Shirley saying it’s her fault he is the way he is, ‘I’ve turned out just like you and I HATE it. I wish you never came into my life, you’re nothing to me. You’re just the woman who gave birth to me! Kevin’s dead and you’re still here. Where’s the justice in that, eh?’ Shirley sobs that she wants to make it up to him, if he’ll let her but he says she took the easy way out and doesn’t deserve to be a mother to her kids. Mona leaps up off the stairs unable to listen any longer but Mick holds her back saying they need to get all this out in the open.

Sharon tells Carol she was afraid of being rejected again after what happened last time. She speaks of her great parents and how she wouldn’t have changed a thing, but they’re gone now and she’d like Denny to have some family ‘I’ve settled here in the last few years having been away in America. He was being thrown from pillar to post and I was worried about the affect that was having on him. He needs stability and he has that here.’ She goes on to talk about Phil and his family. Carol says she’d love to meet him. ‘My mum and dad never got to’ Sharon sighs. She goes to apologise but Carol stops her before she can finish saying she doesn’t expect to be called mum. A curious Sharon asks why she rejected her a second time.

Dullagj is full of dread as he wonders what loose cannon, Gary, has said to Janine. She’s quiet when he enters and he fears the worst, gulping as she asks what took him so long. Dullagj says he ran into Gary who was in a bad way. Janine says he said something about a son, stating she didn’t know he had one. Dullagj sits down and invents a story about how he’s not allowed access and prefers not to mention it as it rakes up a lot of bad memories. Janine says she’d rather they were open with each other, she likes to know the type of people she’s letting in contact with Scarlett as she’ll always come first…

Carol tells her she had a nice life, happy marriage and 3 kids, she couldn’t face ruining that and was afraid how Ron would react if he knew she had a kid in her teens. She says Gavin was a whirlwind romance and never knew of her pregnancy, ‘I heard that he went abroad but I haven’t seen nor heard from him since I fell pregnant. I couldn’t support a baby. I was caught in this awful situation with no support…and..*sniffs*…and I made the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make! It wasn’t a decision I took lightly but I knew you’d be better off without me….Look at you. You’ve done so well for yourself.’ Sharon is compassionate adding that it hurt when she went to the hospital to see her and she’d given birth to a baby girl, ‘A girl you were going to keep but you didn’t keep me. I understand now but at the time…’ Carol’s sorry she had to feel like that.

Toni talks about her dad to mum, Paula, and how she still recalls the fear she felt when he’d go on the booze, ‘I used to dread the sight of a beer can because I knew what was ahead. He was a different person when he drank. A monster…..but you weren’t drunk mum, were you? You need help, you’re a shadow of the mum I remember.’ Paula stares into the distance whispering under her breath that Ken got his happy ending, why can’t she get hers? ‘Mum, you have to remember that not every man is like dad. I’ve had the same problem. Promise you’ll get help. Promise me mum.’ Toni watches as her downbeat mum goes back into the B&B. Camera turns to Los who has spotted Toni with the mystery woman. He turns back down the market.

Carol remarks how Emily has brought them together once again, ‘She’d have been 24 this year. I dream about her returning every night. Just to wake up and for her to be there….my little baby’ she cries. Carol tells her how her husband was killed in a hit and run and that’s when her life went pear-shaped, ‘We hit rock bottom. Ron was the main breadwinner and I was too ill to work. It hit the kids hard. Chris/Gary tried to be the man of the house, sacrificing his own life for the rest of us….I thought why me? Why my Ron when there’s rapists and murderers roaming the streets? Is this karma for me giving up my baby all those years ago? Jon/dullagj’s baby died suddenly and now Emily. When will it all end?’ She begins to sob and Sharon takes hold of her hands, her eyes tear-filled ‘It must be a family trait. My father and 2nd husband were murdered on this Square’ she sighs. Roxy bursts in looking for Amy interrupting the moment. Sharon informs her that Denny and Amy are at Billy’s and Phil is lying down. Roxy looks at the stranger before looking at Sharon. Sharon asks Roxy to meet her birth mother, Carol. Roxy greets her joking she feels like she’s interrupted an episode of Long Lost Family.

Dean asks if she knows what prison does to you. Shirley asks what he wants her to do, she can’t change the past. ‘I steal. I lie. I spike drinks. I put people in danger. I don’t even know who my real father is thanks to you. Maybe I take after him too. I sleep around just like you. You know what I wish I’d succeeded in setting myself on fire cos the pain I feel hurts so bad. Prison…..you know it stays with you.’ Shirley says she can get him help. Dean declines laughing in her face, ‘Not before you lose this place. Shirley Carter running a boozer. Don’t make me laugh. Who did you blackmail or sleep with to get this place?’ Mick interrupts them saying he thinks that’s enough for today. He ushers Dean out and tells him outside the pub that everyone deserves a second chance, ‘You keep telling yourself you don’t want to know but you setting up roots here says otherwise.’

Ronnie finds Sharon sitting at the kitchen table having been unable to sleep last night. Sharon fills her in on last night’s events. She says she’s still a bit overwhelmed by it all. Ronnie butts in that she should be thankful she wasn’t robbed of a reunion and to make the most of this second chance to get to know her mum, ‘None of us know when our clock will stop ticking.’ Sharon eyes well up as she ponders the different life she could have had, 'I thought my life was messed up. She’s had so much trauma in her life, just when she thinks it can’t get any worse something else comes along and knocks her down. I want to help her get back on her feet. It’s weird…I feel this connection with her and I barely know her.' Ronnie leaves for work haunted by her own memories.

Mona is weary of what mood Shirley will be in after last night’s talk with Dean. She creeps around the bar, clearing the glasses as quietly as possible. Shirley rears her head making mona a jittery mess. Shirley tells her she doesn’t have to walk on eggshells around her, if Dean doesn’t want to know then she has to accept that. Mona’s relieved she hasn’t hit the bottle.

A hung over Gary wakes outside Janine’s in need of a Paracetamol. Carol is horrified to see him lying on the pavement while drawing the curtains. She makes her way out immediately exclaiming ‘Christopher Mark’ and helps him into the house, looking around to see if anyone is looking.

Toni remarks that Los is off with her but concludes it’s down to the long hours he’s putting in to make the shelter a success. She tells him he needs a break but he shrugs his shoulders as he heads to the Square.

Back in the Mitchell kitchen, Roxy wants to know all the goss from Sharon. Sharon tells her to keep it down saying she hasn’t got around to telling Phil yet, he’s had enough on his plate but she doesn’t want him hearing it from someone else. Roxy asks if she’s any fit sons, unaware they’re already on the Square.

Dullagj knows it’s going to be a rough day when he finds his brother in a state downstairs. Carol’s cleaning the kitchen. He whispers that Gary isn’t welcome here in her ear, ‘I don’t want Janine to feel like her house has been taken over by a bunch of strangers and he caused enough aggro last night.’ She assures him he’s just sobering up, ‘He said the lady he lives with will give him chapter and verse.’ Dullagj rolls his eyes. Janine enters, she lifts her nose as she gets the stench of Gary before stating that she was planning to work from home today. Dullag promises he’ll be gone asap, looking over at his brother. Carol heads out and asks them to play nice, saying she wants to cook them all dinner tonight ‘I’m not having my boys fighting. Life’s too short.’

Also tonight, CherryRose takes over the flower stall when Tracey resigns to spend more time with her son. Mo discreetly posts a letter through Max’s front door. Vaslav walks through the market, his hand gripped tightly in his pocket. O…O is upset that Keyser is going elsewhere for his fish.

Janine sits working at the living room table whilst dullag plays upstairs with Scarlett. Gary's still on the sofa and is surprised Janine has taken dullagj’s lies so well. He drops it into the conversation that not everyone would be happy to leave their child in the care of someone who was involved in such a tragic accident. Janine looks over at him perplexed and it dawns on him that he’s given her some cock and bull story. Janine demands to know the truth…

Bevis broaches the wedding with dan but he’s still off with him. Bevis is at a loss at what to do and calls into Lotty to see if she can talk to him, afraid he might be suffering from depression. Lotty says she has a lot on and will try her best to contact him later but doesn’t want to make a promise she can’t keep.

Dullagj comes down the stairs holding Scarlett. Entering the living room, he senses something is wrong when Janine asks him to hand her over saying she’s due food. Dullagj says he’ll prepare her something but she insists. He sees Gary’s smirk and follows her to the kitchen enquiring what’s up. She looks him in the face, ‘You lied…you KNOW how hard I find it to trust.’ Dullagj storms into the living room and pulls Gary from the sofa and out of the house. He’s visibly reveling in the situation only to turn round to see his mother who’s furious to see they’re at loggerheads again. Dullagj is shaking with anger informing her that he’s been mouthing off to Janine, ‘Jealous! You can’t bear to see anyone else happy.’ Dullag says Carol should know the real reason Gary came here…Gary goes to leave but Carol shouts at him to stay where he is.

Phil is feeling tired and has had to take the day off, refusing to stay off indefinetly. The treatment is clearly taking its toll and Sharon’s torn over whether or not she should unburden herself on him. Ronnie unwittingly drops the bombshell when she bursts into the living room saying she thinks she saw her (Sharon’s) mother, not realising Phil was there. A bewildered Phil looks at her asking if Angie’s back from the dead seen as her parents have a habit of doing that.

Carol H. struggles to take in dullag’s words, shocked to learn of Gary’s stalking and burgling. Gary defends his actions but then dullag adds that an innocent got caught in the crossfire and he stabbed her. Carol accepts that a harmonious lunch is out of the question and states she was gathering them together for a particular reason, asking them both to come inside for a few minutes adding they might want to be sitting down for this. Dullag refuses to let him back in, ‘We’re done….for good this time!’ Carol pleads with them not to make her do it on the doorstep but she’s left with no option, ‘I had a baby girl when I was in my teens. I gave her up for adoption but I’m back in contact with her and she lives on this very Square!’ Gary and dj look at each other in disbelief.

Los confides in Maurice who reluctantly tells him about Toni’s mother coming onto the scene. When Toni arrives, Los cries that he knows about her mother but she’s obviously too ashamed to introduce him. Toni weeps as Los walks away from her. Over at the pub, Mick is pleased that yesterday’s natter did the trick but Shirley’s mask slips in the kitchen and she has to quickly compose herself.

Gary is still sitting on the pavement unable to take it all in, his head in his arms. He lifts his head and tilts it back, rubbing it profusely. Dullagj holds onto the wall asking for a name. When she says ‘Sharon’, he squawks that’s his boss. Gary insists she’s lying, their sister is dead. Dullagj quips they learn from the best it seems asking if they have the same dad. Gary sits shaking his head as she answers whispering his whole life has been a lie. He walks off feeling betrayed by the one he loves the most. Janine closes the door assuming it’s just another family barney. Dullagj knocks to get in as Carol just stands there relieved she’s unburdened herself finally but fearing what the future holds.

Duff duff: Gary kicks a metal pole and stubs his toe.

Carol H. asks Dullag, who’s still waiting for Janine to let him in, where this Scrabbler bloke lives. Dullag is gobsmacked, crying it should be the least of her worries right now. She apologises for not telling them but she never had reason to, ‘You were only young when I last laid eyes on her. You wouldn’t have understood. I thought you’d think less of me.’ Dullag replies that if she kept a secret as big as that from him, he wonders what else she could be hiding. Carol asks again where he lives…

Toni wants to follow Los to explain the situation but Maurice advises her to let him cool off first. Toni asks how he found out, ‘Did you say anything?’ Maurice looks to the ground before admitting that Los was worried and asking questions. Toni snipes she thought she could trust him and storms off. Maurice rings Jake to come in.

Carol knocks repeatedly on Scrabbler’s front door. The gaps between knocks becoming less and less as the adrenaline pumps through her veins. There’s no time for pleasantries when he finally does open the door. He’s holding his face by the time he realises what’s happened. ‘That’s for Ron’ she spits as she walks out of the garden. Dullagj facepalms as his family collapses around him, thankfully Janine opens the door.

Klen sees Maurice sitting on Arthur’s bench and sits down beside him. Klen says some woman is after smacking Scrabbler across the face. Maurice looks round before sighing that he messes everything up referring to the Toni situation. Klen says he shouldn’t get caught up in other people’s domestics, it just gets messy. They greet Priscilla as she passes with Eddy in his buggy.

Sharon’s still explaining things to Phil when there’s a knock on the door. She finds a helpless Carol on her doorstep with mascara marks etched on her face. She looks back at Phil but he storms out before Carol’s even made it into the living room. Sharon quips not to mind him asking what’s wrong? ‘I’ve told them. I’ve told the boys’ she weeps.

Dullagj sits Janine down to talk to her as Scarlett sits blissfully unaware of the chaos ensuing around her watching Balamory whilst nibbling on her dinner. Dullag says he can explain, Janine asks why he couldn’t have told her the truth in the first place. He gulps as he recounts the tragic accident, ‘I was looking after him and he became entangled in the window blinds and hung himself on the string. He was only 2 years old’ he weeps. Janine is taken aback by the truth looking over at Scarlett.

Also tonight, Vaslav takes the alley instead of walking through the bustling market. Lauren goes to her dad’s to check if she’s any mail. Paula texts Toni she can’t afford to stay in the B&B much longer. 0…0 tells Keyser he can’t get unleash his vengeance on Phil he’s got cancer, Keyser’s adamant that won’t stop him!

Bevis asks dan if he’s been speaking to Lotty recently but he hasn’t. Bevis pleads with him to open up unsure if the wedding’s still going ahead. Dan states ‘I know. I know that you sent everyone on a wild goose chase the night Emily took me hostage. Emily would still be alive if it wasn’t for you! This whole nightmare would’ve been avoided.’ Bevis looks on as dan slams the bedroom door behind him.

Maurice recounts to Klen that sorcha’s the only woman he’s ever loved but TK still comes between them even though he’s dead. Klen says they seemed to be doing fine until the baby came along remembering their hospital convo. The cogs turn in Maurice’s mind…Klen suggests he get back out there and move on. Maurice shakes his head stating when you find the one you know, ‘No one can hold a candle to sorcha.’ Klen’s head is turned as Lucy walks past.

Gary gives Dot a fright when he slips in her back door. Dot jumps, warning him not to creep up on her like that, it’s not long since she had a burglar. Gary sits down at her table and asks if she’s any ice for his stubbed toe. Dot enquires how he did that as she pulls a bag of frozen peas from the freezer. As he breaks down, she sticks on the kettle and lights a fag. Back at Janine’s, Janine is sympathetic but she needs some time to process it. She sees his mother has left her shopping out the front and tells dullagj to take it in before Bianca snaps it. The door closes but dullagj doesn’t come back in it. Janine looks out into the hallway and sees the shopping lying inside the door.

Vald is worried when she remarks an atmosphere between Toni & Los. Toni tries to talk to him but he won’t hear it. Vald sits them down and Toni explains that her mother is in a bad place and she doesn’t think it’d be a good idea to introduce him until she’s better. They kiss and make up but as she heads to the bathroom she receives a text from her mum, ‘Can I crash at yours till I sort myself out? X’ Over at Phil’s, Sharon tells Carol it’ll take a while for them to get their heads around it but she did the right thing telling them ‘Better late than never. What if they had found out after your death and you weren’t here to explain yourself?’

Scrabbler is in a state after his altercation with Carol. Vaslav wants to know what’s happened and Scrabbler explains the whole situation. Vas asks if he’s taken his meds, Scrabbler nods weeping ‘Look at all the pain and sadness I've caused. I should’ve never let him get in the car that night. That family’s falling apart at the seams and it’s all my fault.' Vaslav urges him not to blame himself, it’ll get him nowhere ‘You can’t hold yourself responsible for other people’s stupidity!’ Meanwhile, Gary opens up to Dot who’s engulfing the tiny kitchen with smoke. She’s shocked stating she’s known Sharon since she was a little girl. Gary cries that he feels betrayed, ‘I put my whole life on the line for this lot and for what? Mum’s the one I thought I could trust, the one who I could always confide it and vice versa but obviously not. I’ve always been her eldest, her first born.’ Dot takes his hand saying she’ll have had her reasons but he can’t hate her for this.

Phil bumps into Shirley outside the pub. Shirley asks how he’s doing. Phil sighs that he’s fine but he wishes people would stop asking him. Shirley says she was going to call over. He asks about Dean but she says he doesn’t want to know. Phil tells her never to give up saying he’ll come round eventually. Sharon’s leaving Carol home when she spots them in the corner of her eye. Elsewhere, Bevis sobs as he tries to write the wedding invitations.

Lauren pops into Max’s. She sees a handwritten envelope for him with no stamp. She checks downstairs but can’t find him. She calls out his name as she heads upstairs but still no response. She’s thrown to find him still in bed as she asks if he’s feeling ok. He asks what she wants as sorcha pops up from under the covers leaving Lauren aghast.

Lauren steals the duff duff.

A montage plays with this song as the camera zooms around the Square at dawn. Max sits alone in the dark kitchen staring at the written letter, dullagj buys drugs from a mystery source in the alleyway, the milk float passes the pub as the papers are thrown outside the Minute Mart. Lauren’s out for her morning run. Janine right arm lies cross the other side of the bed which is empty. Dean twists and turns in his sleep.

Lauren has filled Zack in on Max’s shenanigans. Lauren screeches ‘What’s been seen can't be unseen’ shuddering as she pulls the cereal from the cupboard shelf. Zack says at least it might keep Max off their back now. He kisses her on the neck repeatedly and asks if he can join her in the shower. They giggle their way to the bathroom, unable to keep their hands off each other.

Carol is round at Janine’s at the lark but she informs Carol that he didn’t come home last night. A shocked Carol tries to recall if she’s seen him but she shakes her head, placing her hand across her mouth as she frets that he may have returned to his old ways. She asks Janine what happened. Janine fills her in but it does nothing to allay Carol’s fears, it all but confirms them.

Dan’s still giving Bevis the cold shoulder and in desperate bid for him to hear him out, Bevis locks them both in the bedroom saying they need to sort this out once and for all, ‘I’m meant to be marrying you in two weeks. I don’t know where I stand.’ Dan tries to open it screaming he’ll be late for work. Bevis cries that he should have shopped him to the police the night he confessed he’d a body in his wardrobe. Dan begins to sob uncontrollably and falls to the ground, Bevis goes to hold him but he brushes him off.

Sharon and Roxy are in the Mitchell kitchen. Roxy’s relieved Amy’s getting her summer holidays on Friday saying she’ll enjoy the lie ins. Amy enters crying that she wants a ‘wooly’, Sharon looks bemused as Roxy orders her to the living room saying she’ll be in in a minute with her breakfast. Roxy explains that Amy saw Denny peeing the other day and had to try and explain to her that girls don’t have them **giggles**, ‘how do you explain that to a child? She asked me if hers hadn’t grown yet. Then, we were in the supermarket yesterday and she started crying that she wanted a ‘wooly.’’ They both can’t help but burst out giggling.

Toni calls in on Paula at the B&B. Paula shows her that she’s a changed woman or at least trying to be one but Toni remains reluctant to let her meet Los. When Toni mentions where she works, Paula says it’d be the perfect job for her. A frustrated Toni cries that they don’t abuse the homeless before exiting, how long before Paula finds out the shelter is around the corner?

Also tonight, New market trader, J-B, turns heads with his selling techniques. Harlowe is called into work when dan doesn’t show up. 0…0 is reaching the end of her tether with Keyser as he plots to bring down Phil whilst stroking her pussy. Mo mouse sits in the Square Gardens observing the residents.

Janine goes to pop out for milk and notices her bank card is missing. She rings the bank asking them to cancel her card and they confirm that it was last used at Walford station last night. Carol begins to cry as she blames Janine for making him relive that tragic night. Janine orders her out of her house.

Bevis tells dan that this is their chance to be happy and get away from this Square which holds nothing but awful memories for them both. Dan sighs he’s always wanted to live here but should have known more than anyone the unhappiness it would inevitably bring. Bevis confesses that he never meant for anyone to get hurt, he was just desperate for dan. Dan says he wants the wedding to go ahead but they still haven’t chosen best men. Bevis is smiling from ear to ear but it’s going to be a race against time to get everything ready.

Sez is worried about Dean who’s acting strangely. She begs him to open up to her as he stares blankly at the tv screen displaying ‘Witches of the EastEnd’. Dean spits that he’s going to burn Shirley out of her home, Sez looks at him in horror. Elsewhere, Dullagj tries the card again at another machine but it’s eaten up. He starts banging the ATM in need of his next hit.

Dan and Bevis head out and see Sharon and Carol outside Angie’s Den. Sharon’s showing Carol the bar as she says dullagj might have shown up for work. Carol mentions that she loves the name and is so proud of her. Dan and Bevis walk past wondering what she wants with Sharon. Angie Princess is leaving work and is also struck by the woman with Sharon. She notices Sharon’s a bit off with her as she introduces her to her mother, Bevis gasps as he hears Sharon. Carol goes on in as Sharon explains everything to Angie P. Bevis asks dan if he heard that, dan sighs. Carol is deflated as there's no sign of her son.

Max calls to Lauren’s wanting to explain himself. Lauren says she doesn’t want to know, she saw enough ‘Your bedroom antics are no business of mine. Do what you like! It’s Abi you should be apologising to.’ She asks what the letter was about but he shrugs it off as nothing. Back at Max’s, Jay is dragging his suitcase up the steps as he moves the last of his things in. Phil is returning home with Denny and their eyes meet for a second. Denny asks if he can switch his Pokémon cards for one of Lady Di’s pups.

Klen is gobsmacked at Zack’s tale about Max and Sorcha, he warns him not to tell Maurice saying he’s still head over heels for her. Meanwhile, Scrabbler’s still in a depressed state lying at home in his kimono and is pleased to see Angie P. until she launches a tirade at him asking when he was going to tell her about Carol and Ron. Scrabbler cries for her to wait but she storms out feeling betrayed by her closest friend.


A montage plays out with this song as Janine wanders the Square looking for dullagj, Max spends the night ringing the women he’s slept with although he doesn’t have sorcha’s and many of the others, Maurice and Zack are delighted to be groomsmen and toast Dan and Bevis in The Gutter, Paula watches Toni working in the shelter from afar. EPISODE THIRTEEN 87/100:

An unshaven dullagj2 is seen begging outside the local supermarket on the high street. He approaches the customers leaving the store asking them for the price of a pint of milk. Most of them avoid eye contact as they fear being mugged by the homeless junkie. He follows some to their cars but has no luck. Defeated, cold and hungry, he has only one thing on his mind; getting his next fix so he sits down outside on the pavement hoping that someone will take pity on him.

Toni gets a fright when Paula shows up at the shelter first thing. Paula is keen to prove herself and helps out. Toni is impressed when she handles a difficult visitor and remembers the mother she knows and loves. Their bonding session is cut short when Los shows up…

Scrabbler doesn’t show for work. AngelicPrincess takes initiative and makes sure everyone knows what they should be doing. Skye arrives in late. Angie asks if Scrabbler will be making an appearance today, looking at her watch. Skye stumbles, looking behind her, unaware that Scrabbler hasn’t crawled out of bed yet. Skye says she’ll text him as she rushes to her desk.

Dan tries to put Bevis’ worries to bed stating that they need to keep their cool between now and the wedding, if they had anything on them they’d be in the slammer by now, ‘We’ve got this far without f**cking it up. We’re not going to mess it up now.’ Bevis kisses him and heads out to work. Dan tells him the stag is on for tonight. Bevis smiles almost tripping out the door in the process.

Shirley is appalled to see that someone has defaced the sign outside the pub which now reads ‘The Shi - tter.’ Sez notices when passing by and thinks its Dean’s handiwork. She turns around and makes her way to the salon to confront him.

Also tonight, new Chinese restaurant, Wok On Inn prepares to open in the former home of the Argee Bhargee. Abi joins snapchat and is dismayed to find Jay has been on it for months. Harlowe catches J-B’s eye on the market and he turns on the charm. Max stares at a text from Sorcha, rubbing his head anxiously before pulling out a cigarette.

Max has asked Lauren over to dinner wanting to sit the girls down together for a chat. Lauren isn’t too enthused but Zack explains that he’ll be at the stag do anyway. Max smokes outside the car lot, watching Sorcha wheel Eddy inside. He shuffles towards her but is stopped in his tracks by Dot who wants to know when he’s planning on visiting Jim, who’s not well at present.

Dean proclaims his innocence to Sez sighing he wouldn’t partake in juvenile vandalism. He jokes he has much bigger plans. Sez’s worried brow is prominent as she leaves the salon unsure whether to believe him.

Paula introduces herself to Los. He’s shocked to discover she’s Toni’s mother. Toni is visibly uneasy as she helplessly asks who wants a cup of tea. Paula interrogates him as best she can before Los gets down to work. As Toni clears up, Paula nudges her elbow, winking that she’s got a good one here ‘And he’s a looker an’ all, eh?’ Toni smiles through cracked teeth as she ushers her mum outside. Paula cries that she’s in debt to the B&B and is likely to be in there **points at the shelter** by the end of the week.

Dot urges Gary to forgive his mother stating ‘Life’s too short to hold grudges against those you love, you should know that more than most. She’ll have had your best interests at heart, like all mothers, she’ll have wanted to protect you!’ The words hit home but he arrives at Janine’s to find they’ve had a falling out over his brother. Janine lets him in, not wanting another lonely night in front of the telly.

Scrabbler contemplates his future as Executive Producer. Skye is full of questions when she arrives home to see he’s still not dressed. He opens up to her saying his condition is getting the better of him crying ‘The pills aren’t working.’ As Skye gets to the crux of the problem, she dials Angie’s number for him. Angelic P. hears him out but apologises that she can’t forgive him. Skye fears she’s made things worse.

The stag gets underway for the grooms at The Shi-t. Dan is pleased that Lotty could make it. She voices her hopes that he’ll be happy with Bevis and this new start will allow him to put everything behind him. As the night goes on, the lads get quite rowdy. Zack is trying to find possible love interests for Klen and Maurice when he puts his foot in it, ‘If Max Branning can get a bird every time he flutters his ginger lashes then you guys most be doing something wrong….although his latest squeeze Sorcha is easy like Sunday morning’ he laughs. Klen spits out his drink as Maurice looks bemused at Zack. Thinking it’s a joke, Maurice laughs along but when he realises they’re not pulling his leg, he storms out.

Max bites the bullet and calls to sorcha’s door. She’s surprised to see him there and coyly pulls her jacket over her chest to keep warm. She whispers that she’s the house to herself tonight, she’s just singing Eddy off to sleep **eyeing him up and down** Max looks at the ground and rubs his head shyly, explaining that he’s not staying. Sorcha’s face changes as she thinks she’s getting the brush off. Max tells her he might have HIV and all the women he’s slept with need to get checked out. **Maurice watches them from the gardens**
