DS Enders producer and writer, dullagj2, discusses what viewers can expect from the final four episodes of series 2………..

I’m thrilled that the series is still going strong at this stage and people haven’t bored of it. Now that the links have been formed and bonds have been made between various posters and characters, it’s has been fun delving deeper into everyone’s stories and finding out why they act like they do. There’s still a lot more to explore on that part, with so many characters others have to take a backseat at certain intervals.

I try to maintain an equilibrium between drama and humour. It’s important to have the light hearted moments amongst all the tears, pain and anguish. The stories that will be taking centre stage in the next 4 episodes are………

JOP/David/Carol/Masood. We’ve seen that JOP and David have formed an alliance, both want what they can’t have and are willing to work together to break Carol and Masood up. JOP has quietly eased her way into the Masood household taking the mother role vacated by Zainab but Masood has reiterated that he has no sexual feelings for her. JOP can’t bear to see him with another woman who isn’t Z***** and is prepared to be ruthless to get what she wants. David has also shown his manipulative side, but will this formidable pair succeed in breaking them up? One of the four will exit in the series finale…….

Another story which will continue to be prominent is dan’s. Like sorcha’s, I love that this has been running since the first episode and is still going strong. We’ve seen Bevis’ love for him turn to hate, he feels like he led him up the garden path and feels used. Dan won’t allow him to move on or forget that he helped bury the troll but with an investigation currently ongoing, the police will be knocking on his door soon. Will he be able to talk himself out of it and will the former friends reconcile in a bid to stay out of jail? Another character will be brought into the fold, a returning one will take it into the next stage and dan has to also face the judge for knocking down Denny, will it be poetic justice?

Sorcha’s grief is still ongoing and Tk’s funeral was one of my faves of the whole series. She’s about to make a big decision which she may live to regret. Maurice and sorcha will open up to each other, he’s still living with the knowledge he helped cause his best friend’s death. These two will be brought together again by their grief.

Lauren has fallen for los.kav, both have an alcohol dependency and Lauren is seeking comfort at this vulnerable time. What she doesn’t know is why los.kav sought comfort in the bottom of a bottle and why he ended up on the streets? She’s in for a big shock and los.kav will feel like karma is biting his behind.

Michael’s exit will take centre stage in the series finale as his bid to take Scarlett collapses around him, he takes desperate measures leaving several people in fear for their lives. He’ll make an ambiguous exit which will leave many in fear that he’ll return when they least expect it. This will play out alongside another exit, return and suicide attempt.

It’s sad that the finale is almost upon on us, just over a week away, and I’m conscious of the fact that there’s a lot of stories currently running. I want to do them justice so I can confirm that there will be a third series. All the stories have more twists and turns to come so stay tuned.

The train crash is being filmed all this week and will air xmas week.

EPISODE NINE 21/24:

‘Oh stinks in here’……….Zack can’t bear to stay in Toni’s flat any longer. She won’t let him open any of the windows and the stench is making him retch. When Toni eventually pulls herself out of her pit, she’s not in the mood for one of Zack’s lectures and tells him to move out if he’s so unhappy. Zack yells “I can’t live like this anymore and neither can you. I’m getting you some proper help. This has been going on too long!”

Lotty is concerned for dan when she sees he’s still having trouble sleeping. He begs her to prescribe him some sleeping pills but she refuses, asking to him to open up to her, “Why can’t you sleep dan?” He uses the whole Denny debacle to try and make her feel sorry for him but when she only offers him counselling to overcome the ordeal, he blurts out “I killed someone….”

It’s judgement day for sorcha and she’s feeling tetchy. Priscilla calls round to see how she’s doing but she can’t bring herself to tell her the decision she’s made. Sorcha says she has to pop out for some groceries, Priscilla offers to stay behind and give the place a clean. Sorcha’s grateful but she’s forgotten that she’s left the abortion appointment slip on the fridge door..

Alice is grinning from ear to ear after her night of passion with Michael but when he asks her to bug Janine’s house with cameras so he can watch her every move, will she go through with it? He continuously rejects priscilla’s calls whispering “clingy woman.”

Also tonight, Vaslav wafts through the market but no one has noticed his absence. Sharon’s exhausted and worries that Denny might never be the same again, Phil offers to run her a hot bath. Money worries begin to take their toll on Lola skye. Mr. Ender feels dirty after last night but he’s glad to have enough to stay in the B&B for a night. Ian asks IanMandy how his date went but they end up talking about the Beale family history.

Dan tells lotty everything but she blames Bevis for agreeing to go along with it and sets about confronting him. Los.kav continues to try and avoid Lauren but when she shows up at the group session, he’s left with no option. Zack’s frustrated by Toni’s behaviour, when he sees her with a sharp object he approaches and tells her to give it to him but she says that she needs to cut her toenails and locks her room door.

Priscilla notices the abortion appointment and panics, ringing Maurice she tells him to hop in his car. She gives him the address and tells him to hurry, “Sorcha’s up the duff and she’s getting rid of it, you have to stop her!”

Lotty calls to the Masood house looking for Bevis and is amused to find Masood standing at the door in nothing but an apron. He tells her that he’s out so she heads to the market. JOP picks Kamil up from playgroup. When she sees Masood’s half naked, she seizes the opportunity to seduce him. He asks her what she’s doing back so early but she puts her finger on his lip and gently caresses his chest, tugging at his apron. Masood holds her arm and demands to know what she thinks she’s doing. She opens her blouse and asks him to sleep with her, kissing him on the lips “I know you’ve body butter in the fridge, make my heart melt Mas…..” Masood demands that she leaves the house and tells her she won’t be minding Kamil EVER again.

Lotty finds Bevis packing up his stock on the market. Telling him that she knows, she whispers into his ear, “Emily.” She shouts at him that he shouldn’t have let him go through with it, “Some friend you are, abandoning him when he needs you.” Bevis tells her to keep her voice down and says that he only helped dispose of the body, “Good luck living with that fruitcake!”

Lauren asks los.kav back to hers, opening up about her problems they share a kiss. Los.kav says another time and walks her home. An embarrassed JOP rushes through the Square buttoning her blouse, not looking where she’s going she apologises when she bumps into Lauren.

Maurice arrives at the clinic, seeing sorcha emerging, he fears the worst. He lets down the window and calls her name. A dazed sorcha looks over at him. He jumps out of the car and tells her he knows about the pregnancy. Sorcha cries, “I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t get rid of it.”

Duff duff: Maurice holds a weeping sorcha in his arms.

EPISODE TEN 22/24:

Joyof_pat wakes up to find several missed calls on her phone from David but she can’t face him and pulls the covers back over her head. Maurice wakes up on sorcha’s sofa and is haunted by memories of Tk, the first time he has properly set foot in the place since his passing.

Alice tells Janine to go away and treat herself for the day. Janine says she’s busy and can’t afford to take the time off but that she has to leave the house later to run some errands. Alice texts Michael “Game on!” Michael smirks and sets about getting Priscilla further entangled in his web…

Lauren organises lunch with los.kav. Across the Square, Sorcha is still shaken after yesterday and Maurice takes her to the café for breakfast, his treat. Dan is worried that lotty won’t want to live with him now she knows what he’s done but she says that she knows him and he wouldn’t have done it unless he had no option. Lotty says they’ll have to go the café for brekkie as their all out of food.

Also tonight, AngelicPrincess makes plans to introduce Sharon’s biological family and seeks some advice from Filiman. Sharon worries that she’ll have to give up her job to look after Denny as he makes his recovery. Peter’s envious of the paternal bond IanMandy shares with his father and decides to spend the day with him to make up for lost time. Bobby tells Tiff that her granddad sounds like Dale Winton. Mona scours the internet looking for info on Shirley’s exit, when she’s unsuccessful she tries to wing an admin job in the EE office, will she succeed?

David calls around to JOP’s flat on George Street when she doesn’t answer his calls. JOP tells him that she made a fool of herself and lost her job. David refuses to be disheartened and sets about winning Carol’s heart. Meanwhile, unable to get through to Toni, Zack blasts out his Alexandra album to get her to listen to him, will his plan fall on deaf ears?

Maurice asks sorcha why she didn’t tell him. She says that it can’t be his and she didn’t want to further upset him. Maurice takes her hand telling her he doesn’t care, “I’m the only other person who can begin to comprehend what you’re feeling. He was my best friend, I know he betrayed me but I didn’t wish him dead. I’m grieving for him too!” Sorcha finally feels like someone understands her pain and remembers why she fell for him all those years ago. Dot notices the intimacy and spreads the gossip to all who’ll listen.

When sorcha sees lotty in the café, she says she’ll be around later to pick up her next prescription for the sleeping tablets. Dan’s ears are burning, we can almost hear the cogs turning in his brain. Later, Bevis confronts him on the market for telling lotty. Dan is gleeful at his anger. Bevis texts him as he attempts to claw back control of the situation, “What goes around comes around, you can’t expect to kill someone and get away with it!”

As night falls, David makes sure him and Carol have the place to themselves for the night. He turns off her mobile to make sure they aren’t interrupted. Los.kav heads around to Lauren’s for a movie and pizza, Toni looks on from her window heartbroken as they share a kiss. She runs herself a bath.

With Alice’s part of the plan complete, he tells her to keep the geek onside while he goes to priscilla’s. Set for a night of passion, he asks her to spike Janine’s drink to help him win Scarlett. He puts his hand on her chest as she hurriedly opens the buttons on his gingham shirt and informs her that he likes to be in control.

Maurice is surprised when sorcha asks him to move in with her, reiterating that she just wants to be friends. David emerges from the shower and puts on his tight boxers he bought on the market. Carol is unnerved when he enters the kitchen and drops the soup on the floor. She shouts at him as he tries to seduce her telling him to leave but the situation makes her realise that she’s been fooling herself, she needs to get him out of her life.

Dan watches sorcha pick up her pills but his plan to mug her is scuppered when she runs into Shirley who asks her when she’ll be returning to work. Lauren takes los.kav upstairs but when she removes his trousers she’s shocked to find his underwear stuffed with a sock and screams! Zack continues to blast Alexandra TUNES on his stereo. Unbeknownst to him, Toni has slit her wrists in the bath. Has she gone too far this time?

Duff duff: An unconscious Toni lies in bloody-filled bathwater.

EPISODE ELEVEN 23/24:

The Alexandra Burke track still playing in the background, Zack rearranges his CD collection alphabetically.

A shocked Lauren runs from the house, passing a sleeping Abi’s bedroom. She gurns and heads for the Shirley Gutter.

The camera pans back to Toni’s bathroom where she lies unconscious in the shallow bath. We enter her thoughts and see an older man, who we assume to be her father, drinking heavily while lashing out at those around him all to the sound of a little girl’s voice reciting the following poem;

Needing a wee Zack heads to the loo and is suprised to find the door ajar, entering he starts to panic and shake when he sees Toni lying unconscious, he drags her naked body and lies her on the towel, wrapping the other one around her wrist. He runs to get his phone, when he finds it needs charged, he runs to get help.

An upset los.kav is leaving the Brannings house in a daze, the sock in his hand. He notices Zack emerging from Toni’s house in a frantic state in the corner of his eye. Zack sees his and asks him to ring the emergency services while taking the sock he’s holding. Zack runs back up the stairs and wraps the sock around her other wrist. He tries to dry her body as he waits for the ambulance to arrive.

Meanwhile, dan is taken aback to find the police at his door. The say they want to talk to him in relation to the disappearance of Emily. Thinking Bevis is behind it, he lets them in. Has one of his allies let slip?

Also tonight, sorcha returns to work when Shirley says she’s short staffed. When Denny lashes out at Sharon, she breaks down in Phil’s arms and says she’s not cut out to be a mother and can’t continue bringing him up on her own. Scrabbler tells mona that he doesn’t trust her to work for him and heads to the pub with Angie and co. to celebrate the viewing figures increasing by 10% since his takeover. Priscilla voices her concerns to Michael, when he talks about the life they’ll have, she’s swayed and says she’ll do it at Janine’s party in the pub on Monday.

Los.kav tells Zack they’re on their way and says that he should elevate her hands above her head, “My mum’s a nurse, always good in a crisis” he laughs. The paramedics arrive to take her to hospital, Zack goes in the ambulance with her.

Kirsty kicks off in the pub when sorcha serves Lauren alcohol. Blue angel rings Maurice to collect her, sorcha repeatedly apologies but things get worse when los.kav walks in. Lauren lashes out at him, “You’re sick, leading me on, me in a vulnerable state, you’re not a man, you’re a fraud.” And tells the whole pub it’s a tranny “it had a sock stuck down its boxers, when were you going to tell me? Eh? Did you think I wouldn’t notice you’re missing a dick? Eh?.” Kirsty drags Lauren home, vald follows an upset los.kav in the back. Poppy breaks the awkward pub silence, “Hitchcock didn’t have a belly button” she exclaims.

The police tell dan that the last place Emily’s phone was used was his house giving the date of her murder. Dan says she had come around because someone was harassing her online and she thought it was him. I told her it wasn’t me and showed her proof, she forgot her phone but never called back and hasn’t been online since, “Next thing I knew, there were missing posters with her head everywhere.” The police ask why he didn’t come forward with this information but he says he thought it was insignificant. They thank him for his co-operation and leave the house. Dan is left questioning who he can trust.

Elsewhere, los.kav breaks down in vald’s arms saying no one will accept him and they’ll shun him like his family did, “This is karma for us not going to the police about TK’s murder. We saw it and did nothing. We are letting the perpetrators roam free when he could identify them.” Vald says it was dark and they had hoods up. Unbeknownst to them, sorcha has heard everything and is about to enter the kitchen only for Maurice arrives to take her home.

The next morning, the locals have plenty to gossip about especially when they see Maurice moving in to sorcha’s. Sez is furious when she sees Michael leaving priscilla’s fixing his tie. Realising she’s not part of his plan and seeing him threaten Janine while mocking Tamwar, she sets about ruining him. Zack stares at the blood stains in the bathroom. Lotty assures dan she didn’t say anything to the police. Joyof_pat is upset to find out that Kamil has gone back to Pakistan with Syed, and sticks the knife metaphorically in Carol in the café asking when she’s planning on converting. David put doubts in Mas’ mind when he arrives at the door with the Butcher’s post. Toni wakes up in hospital to see none of her family have turned up, the nurses tell her she’s being kept in as she’s at high risk of infection.

Duff duff: Michael stares at Janine’s house with a revengeful glint in his eye.

EPISODE TWELVE 24/24:
HOUR-LONG EPISODE

Michael creeps on Janine as she has her morning shower. Alice is unnerved to wake up alone and heads downstairs to see where Michael is. He closes down the laptop and tells her it’s time for the next stage of their plan…

Dan heads to the Minute Mart for some shoe polish ahead of his day in court and bumps into Bevis. An angry dan tells him he had a visit from the police yesterday, Bevis says he had nothing to do with it and tells him not to underestimate the power of a guilty conscience. Scared that dan will have said something to the police, Bevis asks Tracey to mind his stall.

Sorcha wakes up upset after a nightmare about TK’s murder. Unsure what to do about the new information she has acquired, she decides to sit tight and see if los.kav will redeem himself following last night’s debacle.

JOP is fed up of life is Walford and has decided to leave unable to watch Masood swoon over Carol any longer. Priscilla gets ready for Janine’s party at the Shirley Gutter, will she be able to go through with it?

Also tonight, Phil asks Sharon to move in with him but she says she’s not in the right state of mind to start a relationship. Dot is alarmed to find Poppy’s dinner in the bin. Bobby is shocked to find out that David Wicks is his uncle. Zack continues to clean the bathroom and orders a new bath. IanMandy is happy to see Mandy’s phone number is still in Ian’s contacts. Mona urges Shirley to get back with Phil before Sharon sticks her claws in but she’s not interested and says she’s moved on, “You should too!”

A downbeat Sorcha goes to visit TK’s grave. Elsewhere, Bevis rushes home to move the doorstep from under his bed afraid a police house call is imminent. Lotty accompanies dan to court, JOP wishes him luck as she heads to see Masood one last time. Michael is perplexed to see Sez entering Janine’s house, what is she up to? Michael walks swiftly back to the house to listen to the conversation.

Bevis is in the process of moving the doorstep when Tracey phones him to say lotty’s car splashed through a muddy puddle and wrecked a load of his stock, a raged Bevis rushes to the stall leaving the doorstop in the middle of the landing. Meanwhile, dan’s nervous as he prepares to enter the court.

Michael’s anger boils over when he sees Sez telling Janine that he’s up to something and to keep the place locked until she finds out what he’s planned. Maurice worries about sorcha and heads to the graveyard to take her home.

Zack stops JOP as she enters the Masood house and is upset when she tells him she’s leaving. He says he could do with a friendly chat as he’s had a tough few days. She says she’s sorry but her cab’s on its way and she has someone she needs to see first….Inside the house, Masood is late for his rendezvous with Carol and not noticing the doorstep at the top of the stairs, he trips….

The court hears the evidence, dan is anxious as he awaits their verdict. Sharon’s death stares haven’t gone unnoticed, “If looks could kill,” lotty laughs. Elsewhere, Sorcha walks towards the sea unable to face a life without TK.

Michael asks Alice to drug Janine before the party and tells her they are leaving tonight. Sez interrogates Priscilla at the pub and she lets slip that Michael is taking her away with him.

JOP knocks on Masood’s door, hearing his cry for help she looks through the letter box and sees him lying at the foot of the stairs. Carol waits patiently at the Butchers and David is gleeful that he’s stood her up.

Maurice is horrified to see sorcha walking into the sea and rushes towards her…

Sez heads to Michael’s house, when she sees Alice she grabs hold of her and gives her a slap, “Grab a hold of yourself you stupid girl!” Alice stands dumbfounded as Sez tells her he’s been playing them all for fools, “He’s only interested in himself. He’s using us to do his dirty work.” Alice tells Michael to go to the pub so he has witnesses and takes Sez in the back door…

JOP taunts Masood through the letter box, saying why should she help him? He didn’t help Christian and has been whoring himself around the Square since Zee’s departure. She fires a series of insults at him and says she’s off to find herself a real man, “Sit there and think about what a douchebag you’ve been this past year. I’m sure Jacksy will be around soon to snog you. Ugh!” JOP says goodbye to Zack as he heads for the hospital and vald wishes her well saying she hopes to see her again one day. JOP hops in her taxi and noticing a glammed up Carol heading for Mas’ she sticks her head out the window and sticks her middle finger up at Carol, “Feck you, Carol Jackson.”

Sez is freaked out to find Alice’s bedroom covered in Michael pictures, one is his wedding picture with Alice’s head on Janine’s body but she knows she has to do this for Scarlett’s sake. Sez turns around to find Alice has locked her in the bedroom, looking out the window she sees her heading for the pub and cries for help. …

Maurice take his top off and swims frantically in a bid to rescue sorcha..

Dan is pleased not to receive a jail sentence as the judge imposes a one year driving ban. Sharon has to be held back by Phil as dan leaves the courthouse, “My son coulda died” she screams. Lotty and dan head to the pub for a celebratory drink, he fumes at RedHood when he sees his legal bill and tells him he ain’t getting a penny “You did nothing!”

Alice is upset to see Michael flirting with Priscilla and tells him to come with her she’s drugged Janine. As he heads out he sees Janine taking Scarlett to the Minute Mart in need of nappies. Alice says his game is up she’s going to tell Janine everything. In a panic, Michael pushes Alice to the ground and heads to the Minute Mart, with her back turned Michael steals Scarlett and heads towards his house……

Maurice drags a wet sorcha from the water, and compresses her chest. He kisses her as she starts breathing, holding her in his arms.

Alice gets up from the ground and rings the police, Michael realises he hasn’t got time to flit the Square with Scarlett and heads for the roof of the pub in a desperate attempt to be with his daughter. As he brings her through the ginnel, and up the stairs he laughs that this must be how Ronnie felt when she stole Tommy.

In the bar, Priscilla is confused at Janine’s no show and Michael’s disappearance. Scrabbler is amused by a drunk vaslav’s antics but is gobsmacked when Gary walks in the door, “Bet you thought you’d never see me here again” he laughs. Angie drops her drink and orders him to stay away from her and asks IanMandy to take her home. Dan downs his pint unaware that Emily’s brother is back on the Square and he won’t stop until his sister is found. Janine and Alice rush to the roof….

Maurice takes sorcha home as night falls. Opening up to him she says that she can’t stay on the Square. “ I can’t pass the place he was killed every day, nevermind work inside that pub with all those bad memories. I want to move!” Maurice tells her not be annoyed by all the gossips “They’re hypocrites. They were all badmouthing you and Tk just before his death for the affair, hours later they were laying flowers outside the pub for him. They didn’t even know him, no one knew him like we did. Then, they come up with their half-hearted sympathy looking for the next bit of gossip. They’ll have a field day when they find out I’ve moved back in. F**k the lot of them, let them say what they want. Life is too short **chokes** to worry about what people think of you. You can’t please everyone!” Sorcha says it’s not them who are the problem…

Alice and Janine find Scarlett alone crying on the roof, Michael walks off into the distance defeated. Police sirens echo in the distance.

A montage plays with this song, lotty helps dan and vaslav home. Sez stands with her head pressed against the window hoping someone will save her. Mas thanks Carol in the hospital and asks her to move in with him. JOP heads for Yorkshire. Zack talks to Toni at the hospital. Sorcha and Maurice drive through the Square, while Alice looks across the roof to see if Michael fell. Vald tries to get los.kav out of bed. Bevis can’t find the doorstop. Scrabbler’s uneasy with Gary roaming free.

Duff duff: Janine holds and kisses Scarlett.” It’s all over now! Daddy’s not going to hurt you!”
