Cav is pretty small for a sprinter and I wonder if the bigger guys bully him and he has to push and shove and lean on people otherwise they'll swamp him

maybe that's why he crashes so often in the final.......
I think eventually everyone ages a bit and a new kid on the block comes through. 3 years ago (i think it was) cav just eased away at the end of the final stage in a just awesome way. He has won 25 stages, but last year he found kittel too much. Kittel won 4 stages, to cavs 2.

Hopefully he has a few more stages in him, but zabel, Mcewan, cipollini, abdou etc, all used to be "the man" until someone else claimed the title. I think cav is just facing the same problem.

The Tour De France website shows Sagan in white, with Coquard in Green which contradicts both my understanding of the situation and my previous comment.

So will Sagan wear the green jersey or the white one tomorrow? Assume green.
Is sagan still young enough for white? Surprised.

Thats rose tinted glasses. Unfortuately he has history for those sorts of incidents.

Wouldnt be surprised if he gets a penalty for causing a crash, as has happened before. It depends if they have a few seconds more of video, because the evidence from the shots so far look pretty damning for Cav.

that's what I was saying..........because he's fairly small he has to push and shove the bigger guys to get his position

Also I do think that over the last year or two he has lost some speed and now finds it more difficult to get through gaps.........which means more leaning and shoving

It seems that if a rider is leading a jersey outright he wears that one. Peter Sagan is first in the white jersey comp so he gets that. So Coquard is next up as he is 3rd in points and 2nd in white.

I think that is wrong, the official website shows 45pts,

http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2014/us/

which is the Standard number of points in a flat stage for a number of years.

He got dq'ed from a stage last year for a similar thing, didn't he? Leaning in on the finish, with a couple of head shoves.

172 riders with the same +0'00 time. Not sure how the stragglers got so far behind at nearly 9 and 14 minutes down.

I get the first sentence, but I was wrong in thinking the Green Jersey was deemed more prestigious than the white one.

One thing I don't get is that Coquard is 4th in the pts comp, so why isn't Navardauskas (3rd overall) not in green tomorrow.

1. KITTEL M. GIA 45 pts
2. SAGAN P. CAN 35 pts
3. NAVARDAUSKAS R. GRS 30 pts
4. COQUARD B. EUC 26 pts

The official website has

1. GERKITTEL Marcel 101 TEAM GIANT-SHIMANO 45 pts
2. SVKSAGAN Peter 51 CANNONDALE 45 pts
3. FRACOQUARD Bryan 153 TEAM EUROPCAR 39 pts

Not sure if that's right. There should be a points breakdown somewhere.

Video here (incident starts at 11:40): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20...lometers_sport

Cavendish was on Sagan's wheel with Gerran's line alongside. As the stage win was looking beyond him, it could look like he was taking out his frustration. Gerrans did dip in behind Sagan a few seconds earlier, but not possible to see if there was contact.

OMQS were not at full strength as Terpstra was AWOL along with Petacchi. So why did they take it up so early?

Dauphiné winner Talansky, the guy who Garmin are building there future around, and hoping to finish in the final Tour top ten, is 4mins down after the first stage.

I think the crowds on the 2nd KOM climb split the peleton into 3 groups, the first two got reuninted, but the third never got back on. Unfortunately when the peleton hits top speed in the last 10Km a one minute gap quickly turns into 10 or 15.

I know this happened to Renshaw in 2010 TDF, but I don't recall it happening to Cav, (in recent years anyway)

(I know people in here follow the Cycling Tour more than me, so I might be wrong)

Hmm, surprised at that. I didn't see the last day of the Dauphiné so I don't know how he nicked it off Alberto Contador but as grassmarket says, he must have got separated by the crowd choke points today.

I reckon a lot of the teams will be frantically revising their strategy for tomorrow. There's potential for big gaps.

No he doesnt have to. If he cant win fairly, then winning by risk the lives of everyone around you is not an alternative tactic.

Vaughters has tweeted Talansky punctured in the last 3km so the result will be corrected and he will get same time as Kittel.

I thought you only got the same time if you crashed? Does a puncture count as a crash?
