Chavanal is out on his own but only a small gap..........looks like the GC boys will be fighting out the stage win
Lopez dropped already from the Sky train...........they're only a couple of K into the climb |

Sagan has been out in the break to get the sprint points..........he's just done a wheelie to indicate that he's done for the day.................

![]() BTW the 2 commentators (ITV) seem to pretty repeat each other a lot! Quintana going for it again - could he close into Froome's lead. |

So it is Porte, Froome and Contador chasing Quintana.
Saxo just fell apart |

This is where the real Ventoux starts, after the trees end. Here in the US we are commercial free for once.

Froome now has a 4'14 lead over the rest.
Are there any more flat stages for the rest to try and grab back time? I have Thursday and Friday off. Cannot wait for the Alpe D'Huez now. Good rides for Kennaugh and Porte. Conatdor struggles again. And just what has happened to Andy Schleck? He came to a standstill - hardly what you think would happen to a former Tour winner. |

Most awesome climb I have seen in a long time..
Pure Tour de France spirit. Never expected that and Porte did come good. Well Done Chris. You had to work hard to break the little columbian, and even doubt set in , but it just shows if you want something bad enough . Great inspiring ride to Claim, Yellow, KOTM and stage win. Seems people dont warm to Chris But In my book he a true racer and has tour spirit. |

I agree about the spirit.............a lot of riders in his position might have had a chat with Quintana and offered him the stage win in return for riding together........... That's quite nice to see occasionally but I think the spirit of the Tour demands that you give everything to win an iconic stage finish like the Ventoux or Alpe D'huez It's where the history of the sport is written |

Yes, he's about 17 points ahead of Rojas.
What a stage. |

He (Froome) is not obliterating them though. Yes, he leads them by 3 minutes or more, but the bit of that which was his doing has been one stage win where he lasted better on the mountains than others, which is something which has been known about him for a long time, so other teams should have been prepared to counter but they weren't. On Sunday, all he did was ride with the others, not out-perform them. He's also got a track record of being a decent time triallist, and those who should have beaten him were sub-par yesterday, which wasn't his fault.
He hasn't so much created all the gains as others have handed them to him on a plate by poor tactics and poor preparation. Oh, right. Thank you for enlightening me.
