I wonder if Bradley Wiggins is laughing right now thinking he could have been winning it if he took part. Through I think the commonwealth seems to be important to him and he wouldn't have been able to do the track events there.
I dont think he could have won to be honest. He took advantage of a soft year, as well.

I predict Alejandro Valverde is going to get plenty plates of soup spilled over his lap over the next 10 days after the way he treated the French hero today.
I didnt understand why he wouldnt work with pinot (was it pinot?). He just lost more time than he needed to.

In his Tour diary, Richie Porte says he's sick, at the doctor's car for the past two stages, and he will struggle to complete the Tour.

Contador watched the stage from a TV studio. He said it would be difficult to be ready for the Vuelta: http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showpos...ostcount=16965

aw geez.........

I usually watch on ES but I'm getting really fed up of all the 'inserts' where they stick the race in a little box in the corner whilst they show interviews with riders about their favourite sausage or tell what happened in 1934

Show us the damn race !

I switched over to ITV4............

another thing about the inserts

there are two kinds

there are the ES inserts which they do themselves and seem to clutter up half the stage..........but there are also some inserts which are in French and presumably embedded in the feed.........funny thing is that those ones have the Phil and Paul commentary when it includes clips from races !.......

I bet ES are not to happy about that !.........

It's got Bradley down as being in the road event not the track. Along with Steve Cummings, Alex Dowsett, Thomas Moses, Ian Stannard and Scott Thwaites.

Can I ask a question please guys ?

Who should I be watching out for in the Commonwealth Games ? I'm guessing Sir Bradley will be a strong favourite but who else ? Any of our other Olympians

Wiggins will only be riding the team pursuit. Kenny has been indifferent since the Olympics at an age when he should be improving. Be interesting to see if he does better than last year.

To be honest, I think the team is still in somewhat of a transitional stage post London and pre Rio. I think they will have tough competition from the Oz and Nz teams.

I think the women's racing is going to be more exciting actually. All the big stars from the British Olympics team, against strong Aussie, Kiwi and Canadian riders plus some really good young Scottish cyclists who have come through in the last couple of seasons.

Rui Costa and Simon Yates didn't start today

Big breakaway group of 21 riders have got nearly nine minutes

They've got two big climbs to come.......the cat 2 which they're just about to start on (and will go past the Casertelli memorial on the way down the other side)

Then there's a big HC climb followed by a 20K descent to the finish

There's a good chance that the breakaway will stay away and we might effectively have two races with the breakaway riders going for stage victory and the GC contenders battling it out up the last climb and on the descent

Simon Yates another one that packed in at a planned date. Why he couldn't keep going to Paris I don't know. Only six more stages left!

I guess in his case it's more understandable as he's only a young lad and a 3 week tour might be too much for him at this stage of his career.........and of course he was brought into the team at the last minute when someone pulled out so he didn't have a proper preparation

Looks like the Belkin team have been saved by a co-sponsorship deal with the Dutch national lottery
