It's not just that, it's the fact even now the Tinkoff Team manager still brings on the hives, twitch and selective Tourette's.

Much better San Sebastian TV coverage than previous years.
Not clear yet as to whether the crash was serious enough to affect Adam Yates' Vuelta preparation. |

What a shame though for Bury's Adam Yates.....
.......obviously don't know what would have happened but he was up there with a group of 5 with about 3K to go before he crashed.......could have finished on the podium if the bigger names were looking at each other

Enjoyed both of today's Commonwealth road races. Brilliant team effort by England throughout the race in the Women's to secure Gold and Silver, and glad GT's puncture with only a few km to go didn't cost him the win in the Men's.
Interesting that the BBC had a story on Brailsford saying he'd had a lot of discussion about setting up a female Team Sky. As Armitstead said after the race, the England team worked superbly and a team based around them with some of the other home nation stars would be formidable. They had a good balance of using the track girls to soften up the peleton and chase down early attacks, with the more endurance based girls to go the distance. Pooley will be missed in that respect, she's been an awesome team player doing much the same role today as she did for Lizzie at London 2012. Glad she got a silver for all her effort today. Cav's comment about not being able to go back to the track like Wiggo has due to not being with Team Sky made me wonder how Wiggo could move to another team, if speculation is correct? Surely other non-Sky riders do track as well as road? |

The sport should set up a prize competition for someone to design a fail-safe quick-release wheel fixing. It was excruciating watching neutral service slowly turning the QR skewer lever. Not sure where the Welsh team car was at the time.
Thomas wheel change at 2:45 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/commonw...games/28632922 |

Emma Pooley is far too good to retire, by some distance the best British female time-trialist,

Classic moment in the Tour of Poland today - Petr Vakoc of Omega won by 1:30 or so after a long break. Michael Matthews of Orica won the sprint for second place - and came across the line celebrating.
No race radio, of course.

It's been a drama filled first couple of days in Poland.....
Today, as above, there was the peloton not apparently knowing there was a breakaway rider up the road.......... Yesterday there was an almighty but short lived storm which peppered the riders with hailstones and brought down trees across the road.........loads of crashes......at one point all 4 of the breakaway group came down at the same corner |

Froome and Cavendish pre-registered for the Vuelta: http://www.lavuelta.com/14pr/en/noti...tml?id=289&e=1
(Cavendish was listed as a Sky rider hence his position in the list and differing team description.) The Giro podium of Quintana, Uran, and Aru are riding as expected. A fair few riders from the Tour also. Dan Martin and Andrew Talansky who both led Garmin Sharp on earlier GTs this year are included in the list. |

Should be a terrific Vuelta this year, but then I always think it is as Spain is just such a beautiful country
Seems to be avoiding most of the big cities this year........starting off in the South with Jerez and Cordoba, then a couple of stages and big transfers taking them north and east but staying inland........then it's Pamplona, Pyrenees, Santander on to the far north west and finishing at Santiago de Compastela No Madrid this year ! |

Theo Bos won a sprint finish today in Poland
Of course none of the big sprinters are there.........I reckon he's been a disappointment since coming from the track. I'm sure they thought he'd be a top sprinter but he's not made the big league |

I heard on the news this morning that the Box Hill area is going to be omitted from the route for the London Surrey Classic because of the weather........knocking about 15 miles off the race distance
can't see anything on the internet about it....... I wonder if we'll see lots of late withdrawals from the race if the weather really is foul...... |

The announcement is here: http://www.prudentialridelondon.co.u...htm?featured=1
Current weather forecast does not show particularly severe weather - occasional heavy downpours and gusty wind easing later. Fields draining onto the lanes could put a stop to racing in some places. |
