They're the only ones daft enough to volunteer. No, there's quite a circuit; some of the riders are also pro road riders, but others are pure specialists. A lot of the Italian, Spanish etc riders that you've never heard of, who win medals at the Olympic and World Champ Madisons and other track races are actually six-day men.

On going dispute going on between the UCI/WADA and the Czech authorities.

Not helped by the fact Kreuziger was banned for alleged offences whilst with a team already under investigation for drug mis-use!

I must say that this 6 Day racing is a very strange beast !

With only 24 riders taking part it soon seems to get down to half a dozen (3 pairs) who are in with a chance after about 3 days.........the rest of them just form a backdrop

And hundreds of laps of Madisons.........it's impossible to watch. No clue who's in the race, which lap people are on, who's chasing who.........it just looks like anarchy

And that race with the 6 derny bikes on the track..........what the hell is that all about ?.......

very strange.......

The first British indoor Revolution event of the winter season was held on Saturday. This year, the highlights show is going out on Channel 4 at the not-very-convenient time of 07:00 on Saturday mornings, but will be available On Demand.

http://www.cyclingrevolution.com/new...on-series.html

The full schedule

Round 1: 24/25 October - London
Round 2: 22 November - Manchester
Round 3: 03 January - Manchester
Round 4: 31 January - Glasgow
Round 5: 27/28 February - London
Round 6: 14 March - Manchester

The event carries UCI World Champs qualification points for some of the disciplines, so there should be good international fields.

Another attempt on the World Hour Record live on Eurosport tonight - Matthias Brandle of Australia, going on the same track in Switzerland as Jens Voight used.

Of course it was Brandle of AUSTRIA that got the record - he's the guy who had two wins on the Tour of Britain a few week ago. He only added about 700m to Jens Voight's distance, which tends to prove that there are probably a lot of guys out there who could beat it at the moment. What it probably needs now is for someone like Wiggins, Martin or Cancellara to go out there and really take a big chunk out of it to deter lots of lesser riders from trying.

Indeed so. From what I've seen on t'internet. The general reaction seems to be that some bloke has beaten Jens Voigt's record.

It's a shame that none of the TV companies are interested in showing track cycling.......

After the great success of GB over the last decade you'd think there would be public appetite to watch it

And of course it must be cheap television with a small stadium to cover and the athletes not being paid like footballers

In fact the UCI (I'm guessing they own the rights ?) would would probably give it away for the coverage and publicity

Mind.......having said all that, it's probably the same for all the Olympic sports in that interest drops back to zero between Games

Sure the cycling has been on BBC a few times timed either via BBC1/2 weekend highlights or the Red button.

Maybe there isn't the interest./demand compared to the other sports the BBC have on this weekend like F1/Rugby/Tennis?

What's the pay of the cyclists/footballers go to do with the coverage though...

Just the cost of showing it on TV

Broadcasters have to pay billions to screen football because the players are paid millions so the sport needs to recoup lots of money from TV coverage

They can probably show cycling for next to nothing by comparison because the sport doesn't have to charge a fortune to the broadcaster to pay cyclists wages

Cycle racing is a small sport in this country. Track is a subset with a tiny fan base. Just look at the other forums for levels of interest. MTB and the seasonal cyclo-cross both attract more posts.

There's far more than there ever used to be! The London World Cup will get full coverage on the BBC, as will the World Champs, we never used to get that 10 years ago.

But I agree in general. It is a bit of disgrace that the BBC does not have a dedicated Olympic Sports channel - minority Olympic sports are precisely the kind of thing a taxpayer subsidised channel should be covering.

I guess it's a bit chicken and egg.......do people lose interest in Olympic sport between Games because they're not on TV or are they not on TV because there's no interest.....

Must admit that I haven't carried on watching things I enjoyed in the Olympics like Triathlon and Volleyball which have turned up on TV.........usually on Eurosport

2 golds and a silver for Team GB in the Guadalajara World Cup last night - gold for the women's team pursuit, and gold for the men's team sprint, a big improvement over their European Championship performance a few weeks ago. Silver for the mens' team pursuit.

Frequent Twitter updates are posted by @trackcycling

Apparently the meet has been affected by poor organisation and some of the competitors by food poisoning. Regarding the team pursuit, it seems that the GB women and Aussie men can call upon 18/19 year-olds and maintain top-dog status almost at will.
