What a performance by Alexander Kristoff - he wins all 3 road-race stages (today's stage, just 5mm ahead of Greipel!) and finishes third in the concluding ITT to take the overall. Wiggo ends his last stage race in Team Sky colours with an overall podium - courtesy (surprise surprise) of his victorious ride in the rainbow stripes.

Off we go in Flanders, 175k to go, so plenty time to get lunch organised.

Well that's it, down to two now. The 'after you, no, after you' type mucking about at the end of these races is highly annoying to watch!

Terpstra was on a loser from a long way out there, his only chance was to try a real long one but guess he was out of puff.

Tour of the Basque Country starts today........it's possibly my favourite amongst the second level tours

It's such a beautiful country it's a joy to watch with the green valley, mountains, beautiful little villages.

stage one is a 160K tour around the Bilbao area

Sky are only fielding one Brit, Ben Swift, which is a poor show !

The Yates brothers from my home town are both riding for Orica so I think I'll support them......

The only other Brit is Hugh Carthy riding for the Spanish team Caja Rural

Forgot to record today's stage, will have to series link the rest of the week. I really enjoyed Flanders on Sunday and am looking forward to Rubaix as well.

I was out cycling myself today and saw someone not only wearing a Sky replica kit but also riding a Dogma. I understand this combination is witnessed a lot around Richmind Park, but cycling around Dartmoor this was my first ever time witnessing it. Perhaps he was down here visiting.

Back in the day I used to see dozens of replica Lance Armstrongs round about my brother's house in California, handily placed a decent climb and descent out of San Francisco.

mixed fortunes for the Brits in the Basque race

Ben Swift has abandoned (fatigue)

Hugh Carthy, who's only 20, has got himself into the break of the day with a team-mate and 2 others

Nasty crash in the final km of Scheldeprijs.

In the absence of Kittel et al (and with Viviani taken down in said crash), Kristoff makes it 6 victories in 9 days - now up to 11 already this season. Surely he will finish it with the most victories of anyone in the peloton and is favourite to win P-R.

Will he ride in the stripes next year, I wonder?

Will be tough to keep the sort of form he has at the moment from now until September, the course looks like it will suit sprinters who can get up a lumpy bit near the end though so...

He'll be a marked man now, I thought the other teams were a bit too complacent last weekend, they needed to make it harder earlier.

Simon Yates gets an excellent 5th overall in the Tour of the Basque Country - was in with a shot of the overall at halfway in the final TT, but the final ascent was just too much for him,.

Off we go on the road to Roubaix - GBR's Adam Blythe is in a break with a 7:30 lead, about 20k to go to the Arenberg.

Looks like they've got nice weather which is good for the riders but it takes something away from the spectacle !......

Well I was planning on watching this after a morning on the bike myself, but got 50mph gusts outside so shall skip straight to the PR! (There is live MTB downhill redbull.tv on as well from 1.30, for those who like a bit of off roading)

Peter Sagan has been dealing with explosive diarrhoea at the side of the road, apparently. You're welcome.

Shane Archbold down, that is what happens when you try to ride the Arenberg with a mullet.

The Eurosport guys haven't really been guilty of this, but I've been rolling my eyes quite a lot over the past week at the sheer number of "will Brad win Paris-Roubaix?" stories. More than any other race I can think of, so many variables are involved in Roubaix that are completely outside of the control of the rider. As much as I'd like Brad to win this, he almost certainly won't. Is he capable of winning it? Yes. Will he? Who knows!?

A rich harvest of fines for the UCI coffers after that level crossing, I reckon. Swiss francs as well.
