Must be a more than a dozen disqualifications from that rail crossing? Last time It happened was back in 2006.

That was crazy, the BMC rider should face the most punishment, he was a good 5 seconds after the last rider before him.

Bit pointless, as its easy enough to get back on

I hate to say it, but there really ought to be some disqualifications over the level-crossing. There were a number of riders who were blatant and stupid there.

Have we still got the full 9 clear in the lead? I saw one go off the front on the cobbles and another get dropped them had to nip out.

It is 8 now, De Bie got dropped with his puncture, and the Latvian guy was caught again.

Reports that Thomas, who got back after his crash, was dropped since EQS took to the front.

Nobody wants to be on the same side of road as Sagan.

Always thought that Stannard would end up as Sky's strongest rider today.

The day's break have worked well together to be within 50km and still have a reasonable margin.

Just tried Radio 5 Live Extra as alternative to Rob Hatch. Sadly, their commentary is 200m behind ES pictures.

Pretty impressive stuff from Degenkolb to make the bridge to the front to by himself, pretty much drag three other riders to the velodrome and then beat them all in the sprint as well.

There is definitely a feeling of too many chiefs in the Quickstep team this season. I don't think they lack tactics, there are just too many egos.

Google translation of the race commissaires decision on the rail crossing incident https://youtu.be/nA-84SIFnSo

Quote:
“When passing 138 Km 162.5 -

The peloton was 10 meters away when barriers began to close. It was not possible for the head riders to be stopped in sufficiently safety conditions. (?)

The 2nd part of the peloton was stopped.

As a result, the College of Commissioners jointly with the I'Organisation Branch, neutralized the 1st part of the pack to facilitate consolidation with the 2nd part of the pack, and return the situation before the crossing.

This decision was communicated on Radio-Tour.”

Phrase not heard much this season: Curse of the rainbow jersey

Kwiatkowski paced himself the Cauberg saving himself for the sprint (relying upon a leaders group forming).

Good win by Kwiatkowski.......never showed his face until the last 100 yards......didn't panic when top riders like Martin and Nibali got away, let other teams do all the work

great when it comes off !

there's a new stage race on ES this week.........the Tour of Croatia. Bit annoying though that they don't appear to be showing stage one. Coverage starts with stage 2 which is on at the same time as Fleche Wallone

The Radio Times had the stage numbers wrong. .........the coverage did in fact start with stage one yesterday

Now showing yesterday's stage finish before today's live coverage of stage 2

It's a new race, first edition this year

It's fairly lowly ranked as there are no World Tour teams and only 3 Pro Continental (Division 2) outfits. The rest are Continental (Division 3) and 1 Amateur team

It does make you wonder how many professional teams there are in Europe !

To be honest I've never heard of any of the riders. The most prominent team appear to be the Polish one that rides in Orange. CCC ?

Beautiful weather and beautiful scenery, looks like a great place for a stage race with lots of mountains inland
