Good stage in the Dauphine today, well worth looking out for the repeats.

Bold move by the Frenchman - but Team Sky did well to keep Froome in contention.

Unusual finale to today's stage in france.......20 odd K to go and a breakaway of 5 riders have nearly 3 minutes

Nothing unusual there........but it's the composition of the breakaway !

Nibali, Valverde, Rui Costa, Tony Martin and Tony Gallopin

At least 3 of them are GC contenders and are around a minute and a half down on the yellow jersey at the start of todays stage

I thought Costa would win once he got in the break. He's got a knack for finishing stages.

I hope froome is stronger than he looks for the tour.

Well this race is more exciting than the Giro was. We can have a winner from any of the top six. It is now down to Froome to attack if he wants to win it.

Can finally see a stage live today rather than the admitted good highlights on ITV.

As it's the weekend Eurosport have dumped it in favour of tennis or something

ITV4 it is then.......

Yep. Live Dauphiné has been evicted from the #homeofcycling because of 24hrs at Le Mans.

I am surprised that in times of schedule congestion, BES do not stream Eurosport coverage free on the Eurosport player. It would increase awareness of the product, avoid losing viewers to a rival channel, and keep fans happy.

Thunderstorms predicted for the end of the stage on Mont Blanc. Enough Cat 1 climbs to reverse the GC and decide the overall standings.

I was complaining about this on another thread a couple of days ago. It's crazy, they are creating an English language broadcast internationally, but not to GB. Happens all the time when they go big on snooker, tennis, motorsports etc.

Courtesy of @xavierdisley (again), here is a graph of the average speed profiles for the 7 fastest Hour attempts under the unified rules, including Wiggo.

Another exciting stage in the Dauphine today. It seems that people are paying for huge efforts the following day. They are not automated robots who can easily recover overnight - which is reassuring.

A good ride from Chris Froome today but he can he do it again tomorrow?

I notice that it was on Eurosport 2 after all even though it wasn't listed in the schedule.....maybe it was raining at the tennis.....

I did start watching on ITV4 but the ad breaks on there seem to go for about 10 minutes so I found myself flicking back to ES during the ads

brilliant win for Froome......he should be spot on for the Tour

seems like it's a Climber's Tour this year as they make Quintana favourite and there's only a short time trial

Like others say, I prefer David Millar as an expert now, he seems more aware of what is happening in the contemporary peloton than Sean Kelly etc.

I guess it's the same in all sports.......the most recently retired person knows the current competitors, race tactics etc

I noticed Matt Prior was straight into the Sky commentary box yesterday a day after announcing his retirement and radio 5 always seem to employ the most recently sacked manager as co-commentator on football

I suppose where people like Sean score is that he's actually won a grand tour, classics, and other top races !

Looks like Dowsett will not be riding the TdF, seeing as his name is not on Movistar's 'longlist'. Must have been his DNF in yesterday's Dauphine stage that did it for him - hope it doesn't affect his upcoming ride in the national ITT.

I think so now. He needs 18 secs. Less if he wins the stage. Tough uphill finish. It's eminently possible.

Even though costs probably prohibit this I wonder if we could see cycling do what they do in Test Match Special and have a revolving door of co-commentators and commentators. You can get a diverse range of opinions and personalities then.

Eurosport are doing the British national Champs live on Sunday 28th.

Don't know where you read that - but it must be happening since they're also broadcasting hour-long highlights of the British Road Championship ITT on 26 & 27 June (actual event on 25 June).

Apparently, they will also broadcast highlights of the Irish Road Championships (road races only) before the TdF begins.

The shoelaces look beautiful.

Could have done with French TV starting their coverage earlier.

Saw an advert for it during the Tour de Suisse last night.

Yeah, sometimes it's just nice not to listen to the same old voices race after race.

Today's stage looks set up for a fun finish!

If my mathematics is correct Froome wins by ten seconds. A good end to a good stage race. I think it helps when the time trail has a lesser effect on proceedings. In Tours with long time trails you will whittle the contenders down to about one or two.

And a great result for Simon Yates, wins white jersey, gets good consistent finishes and probably 4th or 5th overall.

Two consecutive strong performances from Froome in the mountains, looking really good. Nice to see Yates coming in second today as well.

Brilliant finish !

well done Froome........but just as excited about Simon Yates, who's only a young lad and from my home town !

Have we got a GC contender in the making ?.........obviously it's a big step up from 7 day races to 3 weeks but you've got to start somewhere
