I think both Yates brothers could be future GC contenders. Might benefit them if one of them transferred to a different team though (I imagine Sky would have one of them).

Last month, the Yates brothers extended their contracts with OGE to the end of 2016.

Froome says he will likely follow Porte's example and use a motorhome instead of hotel bedrooms during the Tour.

So much going on it's easy to miss out....Women's Tour of Britain starts tomorrow, highlights 20:00 on ITV4. Stage one takes the classic route past my parents' village.

A dramatic end to stage 1 of said Tour:
Spoiler
Bittersweet result for Armitstead as she won the stage, then collided with someone 2 seconds later. Looks pretty nasty [Video clip]

Looks like the visit to hospital was precautionary and she's considering continuing tomorrow. Good news. Looked nasty.

Vos doing a presenter stint while she's recovering from injury.........obviously she speaks marvellous English !

She looks a lot smaller and slighter off the bike.......when she's riding she looks like a big girl.........

Tough 10.7% x 12km final climb on the queen's stage of the Tour de Suisse today. Pinot and Thomas now first and second on GC showing they are fully prepared for the Tour climbs.

No broken bones, thankfully. She's pulled out of the WToB and wants to recover in time for the national road race.

G's fifth place after riding the Rettenbachferner (like the Mortirolo, but at higher altitude) is astonishing, especially when you consider that he won E3 less than 3 months ago.

Epic effort by the three man breakaway in Suisse - especially Kwiatkowski surviving until the 500m banner. OSD showed them maintaining 60+ kph in the last few kilometres. Katusha's chase paid off on the hillside finish.

Looks like it will be down to the 38km ITT on Sunday to decide the overall GC

Apart from yesterday, where he did not contest the finish, nothing much has suited Cavendish this year. In an interview he has criticised the Tour organisers for making the race unnecessarily hard.

The UCI have scuppered Froome's intention to use a motorhome at LeTour: http://velonews.competitor.com/2015/...ew-rule_374618

The route of Stage 20 of the Tour 2015 is likely to be redrawn as there is a risk of landslides on the Telegraphe and Galibier:

Geraint Thomas is off in the Suisse ITT. He needs around 1 sec/km from the leader and following rider, Thibot Pinot.

Pinot out of the running. Now Thomas v Spilack - GC will be decided by a handful of seconds,

G pipped to the GC by 5 seconds in the end, though you all probably know that by now.

Attention turns to national championships happening across the world...well, mostly Europe anyway. Generally speaking, there's no better incentive to wear the colours of your country than a certain race across the Channel;that said, G won't be one of them.

Details of how the BCNRC can be followed are available on the BC website. They've also published a preview of the ITT (one of the RR will follow in due course).

Looking ahead to the TdF, the first African-registered team to ride the TdF have named their squad, which consists of 3 South Africans, 2 Eritreans and 4 from elsewhere (including Steve Cummings).

Some changes have been made to the UCI...logo. Apparently it's only the second 'refresh' (so presumably third iteration) in their 115-year history.

Anyhow, the major block of national championships across Europe has started in earnest. Notable results include Wilco Kelderman winning the Dutch ITT for LottoNL (runt of the WorldTour team litter) and Marcin Bialoblocki winning the Polish ITT for One Pro Cycling (British-registered Conti team). Oh, and Spartacus gave the Swiss ITT a miss, so that's gone to Silvan Dillier of BMC.

National champions from 2000 are documented on ProCyclingStats (lists are insubstantial for seasons before 2011).

that's Matt Prior's team.....the former England wicket-keeper

He talked quite a lot about it during his interviews in the last couple of weeks following his retirement from cricket

well done to them!

that's a big win for a fairly small new team..........in cycling terms Poland is the new France.........

Bialoblocki has been riding in Britain for a few years now, is a regular on the domestic criterium circuit.

No British Road Championship would be complete without a joke about the Dutch; live coverage of the British ITT is on the BC YouTube channel.

Text updates are available as well.

BTW, Kittel will not ride this year's TdF...this season has officially become a disaster for the man who claimed Cav's mantle a couple of years ago.

-----

In the men's U23 ITT, Scott Davies & Owain Doull repeat their Welsh 1-2 from last year (just 6 seconds apart this year, rather than 24). Tao Geoghegan Hart finished 3rd.

Davies is still only 19, for the record.

Hayley Simmonds wins the women's ITT, followed by Molly Weaver and Sarah Storey.

Dowsett wins the men's ITT, followed by Edmund Bradbury and Ryan Perry.

Some more notable results today:

Ryan Mullen backs up his 8th place in the European Games with a title in the Irish ITT and Jérôme Coppel wins the French ITT (stalwart Chavanel 3rd this time).

Froome:
Quote:
“I had a couple of recovery days, I took my wife to a hotel down in Italy. When we came down for breakfast, [the staff] said to us ‘Oh, anti-doping guys were here to test you this morning, but it’s our policy not to let anyone disturb our clients.’”

Doh!
