OGE have indeed included both twins in their squad (complete startlist). Double-figure participation is unprecedented for the 'trade-team' era as the 1930-61 editions involved national or regional teams.

Good to see Kelly is still doing the Tour commentary, but I was rather hoping that Hatch would also get the Tour gig, or at least that Kirby didn't. It's a shame Harmon's relations with Eurosport are finished...

It'll be their last Tour gig on the syndicated feed - one of them (can't remember which) said so on Twitter IIRC.

As the premier event of cycling, the TdF will have a major impact on the potential size of the squads competing in the 2015 Road WCh and 2016 Olympic RR & ITT. Of the 10 Brits selected, 7 have earned WorldTour points this season. If GB want the maximum of 9 in their Road WCh squad, they may need 2 more riders to achieve a top-5 stage finish or top-10 overall finish by 15 August.

Cav can obviously do that in a bunch sprint (assuming he doesn't repeat his Harrogate antics!); Dowsett will probably have to be part of a successful breakaway since a top-5 finish in the opening ITT will be hard to achieve; it's hard to see Stannard being allowed in a breakaway given Sky's modus operandi in the TdF.

So anyway this afternoon I got 600/1 Quintana winning the points Jersey.

I thought it was a good price. Lot of uphill finishes. Sagan didn't appeal at odds on.

I thought the best bet was 1/2 Quintana winning the white jersey. Just needs to finish, I think. Buying money.

The points jersey is usually won by a sprinter in the tour de france (unlike the giro and the vuelta). Which is probably why Quintana's odds are so long.

Think that Sagan is the man to beat, as both Cav and Greipel drop in the uphill finishes (and Kittel is out of form).

Don't they have differential points in the Tour........so mountain top stages are awarded lower points than flat stages to incentivise sprinters to go for the green jersey

I don't think they do.......was it the Giro where they did that ?

Good idea though......the climbers already have a classification so I think jigging the points to favour sprinters is fair enough

Kittel is out of the race I think. Can doesn't seem to bother with mopping up points, just winning stages. Sagan will probably win, but picking a climber at long odds seemed a bit of fun.

I was looking at rohan Dennis for the prologue at about 25/1 also.

You certainly could back worse for the opening ITT (it's about 5km too long to be a prologue) - ever since turning pro in 2013 he's been runner-up in no fewer than 11 individual time trials (his wins have either been road race stages or GC, plus a couple of team time trials). He'll be chomping at the bit to win what is arguably this year's biggest ITT outside of the Road WCh.

This TdF will be the first in 11 years to be devoid of a reigning ITT world champion. (In a sense, it may even be 13 years as the UCI were yet to award the 'vacant' 2003 title to Michael Rogers during the 2004 TdF.)

The TdF will start at 1300 BST - start times for stage 1 ITT

The women are riding their own Grand Tour - the 10-day Giro Rosa starts today. Other European riders are riding the 9-day Österreich-Rundfahrt (starting tomorrow) and Asian riders are riding the fortnight-long Tour of Qinghai Lake (starting Sunday).

Had to Laugh at the TDF Team presentation when the commentator asked sky rider Wout Poels if he was in the Lead near the finish of Alp Duez would he take the victory for him self or wait for Chris Froome and when he said wait the crowd started booing

Why did he suggest Alp D'Huez? Froome will ride the same stage as 2012 when the 'mis-understanding' occured:
http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2012/us/stage-11.html
http://www.letour.com/le-tour/2015/us/stage-19.html

The big change this year is the re-introduction of 10, 6 and 4 sec. bonuses on the line for road stages 2 - 9. If it results in more Week One crashes (especially seriously affecting the top four GC riders). or tight control of every break, it will be a very short lived return.

The Tour is promising a revolution in real time data during stages. https://youtu.be/X194y3oAtbM

Their official live Twitter feed is: https://twitter.com/letourdata

Too much data though will dispel all uncertainty, and kill any suspense or anticipation.

It happened in the past with live GPS tracking on Google Earth. Given the speed of peloton and break along with the distance between them it is simple math to calculate if and where the catch will be made.

Hopefully there will be none of this tomorrow. At least there will be no ITT 'rainbow curse', unlike in 1995 (as Boardman knows all too well)...

Lars Boom has been excluded from the Tour by the MPCC on health grounds due to low cortisol levels. Bad start for Nibali.

Not the news Astana wanted - hardly helps their cause..

Indeed...nothing will stop Vino in his quest for more glory. Certainly not any pesky anti-doping ethics union anyway (yes, Boom will start regardless).

Goodbye MPCC.

Still struggle to think of a more disappointing winner at London 2012, could've been anyone else. Still not convinced Uran didn't give it to him.

I go against the bookies today, think Dumoulin will go much better, Cancellara not quite.

1 Dumoulin 2 Martin 3 Dennis 4 Dowsett 5 Cancellara

I didn't expect more than the Top 2 at most to under 15 minutes, so Van Emden at 15:11 and 30 seconds quicker than Durbridge will be there at the end, maybe Top 6.

As much as i like Liggett/Sherwin i prefer the Eurosport coverage mainly due to less ad breaks than ITV.

Liggett is already underway with the mistakes. Already had Stephen Roche leaving the ramp for Team Sky, ***** Devolder has not riden in the Tour since 1999 and the constant talk that only Martin or Cancellara are going to be able to get anywhere near Dennis' time - remains to be seen, that one.

Not sure why Devolder's first name is asterisked out.
