Yes but the Tour is over all the stages not just the mountains and we don't know what Froome would have done today had it been closer. The only way he could have lost the Jersey today (barring accidents) would have been if he blew up so going with Quintana even if he had felt capable would have been utter stupidity, Sky would have been feeding him reports of the time difference all the way up.
It seems that the Champion got spat on yet again, deary me, that is awful, and very uncalled for.
The fans should be banned from the roadside to stop this sort of thing.

Kiriyenka is a work horse on the flats or climbs, very surprised he wasnt picked..
