Two badly timed ad-breaks and, worse, both including that operatic t055er!

Etixx all shouting at each other, you don't want to cross a Dutchman, he'll soon tell you what he thinks!

Who is Richie Porte watching? Familiar sentiment. https://twitter.com/richie_porte/sta...57946742259712

What decided the running order that put Katusha last off? Must get some of those booties for winter.

I am surprised the times were as close as they were. Only Europcar were within 1:20 of the lead. I thought one or two others may have coasted round. Must be the least dramatic opening to a GT in a while. Tomorrow should be interesting though.

Don't judge us, as Terpstra* is a loser in our country

(seriously, not many cycling fans like him; slight understatement there)

* Assuming you meant him, with him being the only Dutchman in the Etixx squad

The Velon/GoPro images from yesterday's opening stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi_A7SqN4uE

Better quality than the TV recording. On such a short stage, where battery life is not an issue, it is a shame they cannot transmit live.

Chaves is not as tall as the podium girls even standing on a box. OGE got their early Red Jersey after missing by a second or so yesterday.

Nibali chucked off the race !

Bit of a sensation following todays's stage as Vincenzo Nibali was thrown off the race for holding on to the team car as he made his way back after the big crash........

I always think that's a bit unfair........he was caught up in the crash through no fault of his own.......

Nibali's acceleration was just due to the car sheltering him from the wind!

Did they deliberately cut the helicopter shot?
oh dear.......that does look incriminating.......

I suppose it would be impossible to turn a blind eye because today you'd have had 60 riders trying to grab cars........but it does seem a bit unfair on Nibali.

Partly Astana's own fault though in taking over a minute to get Nibali a new bike.

Freezing the video at 15 secs, Nibali is top right checking his bike. At 28 secs, another Astana rider receives a replacement, and Nibali finally mounts a new bike at 81 secs. https://youtu.be/IcheF4-yUGM

Some good results for the Brits over in Colarado - young riders Tao Geoghagan Hart and Hugh Carthy finished first and second in the young riders class, and both top 10 overall.

Before I saw the video footage, I was expecting the typical sticky bottle. We'll......... no excuse. Nibali, the idiot, deserves the disqualification. That was him going full retard. Hanging on to a team car and accelerating away from the pack? Really!? What an ass. No excuse for that. The fact that he apparently can't see what he did wrong says everything and more about the man's ethics. Good riddance.

I was exactly the same - thought it sounded harsh, until I saw the video. It's absolutely laughable.

I agree, especially regarding his nibs ethical shortcomings. On the face of it , it was funny watching him accelerate away from the group, but it really isn't. And it wasn't just him, of course. The two of them fit well into Astana. The team has only been around eight or nine years and the stink of cheating has clung to them from the beginning. They're already under "more scrutiny", whatever that means. It's time the UCI put forward a solid case that its own Licencing Commission couldn't whitewash.

Should be a tricky finish today up into one of those hilltop villages - narrow streets, cobbles, steep ramps

Also going over long bridges in Cadiz harbour but there's hardly any wind which could have caused havoc on the exposed bridges

Cadiz looks like a fantastic place.......an ancient city built on a spit of land in the ocean......so we go for adverts when they hit the city........

we also had adverts when they were crossing the magnificent harbour bridge.......

the Spanish Tourist Board are not going to be very happy !

That was a fantastic final 4K. Lafrontera looks wonderful. The finish came rather abruptly. For some reason I'd lost track of just where they were. Good attempt by Sagan. Was pleased to see him finally get a win on Monday.

Good to see Smiler back in the Red Jersey. Two Irish men currently in the top five with the top names 49-90 secs down. GC stage tomorrow with a 20km x 5% climb to the mountain top finish.

Dan Martin going to Ettix quickstep and Michael Kwiatkowski reportedly going to Sky leaves me wondering where Geraint Thomas stands with Sky after this seasons vast improvment in his status
