Carlton informs us that on Eurosport GB we're getting the whole stage today whereas 'International' won't be joining for another couple of hours yet

I wonder what they're showing ?.......

Dear oh dear, this really is awful for Dumoulin now. I hate to see an honest rider being done over by a gang of cheats.

This final Vuelta stage (as far as the GC is effectively concerned anyway) really has turned the race on its head!

Over in the ToB, Greipel just held Viviani at bay to win stage 7 - although talk on social media suggests the organisers got it wrong! Doull finished in the top 10 once again and is challenging for a GC podium.

Russian Asia team's final podium: Astana, Katusha and Tinkov-Saxo.

Dumoulin sixth overall.

So close, they seem to show different results.

The results are based on the strip photo finish, so I think Greipel's stage win will stand.

Bonus seconds are on offer at the end of laps 3, 6 & 9 - Doull and Guldhammer came into the final ToB stage a second apart, so their teams are battling for that final GC podium spot!

The course is different to those in previous years - it's essentially a tri-spoke layout extending from the very centre of London. It's also a bit more technical.

Hmm dunno about that. Greipel came off his line to block Viviani, I reckon.

Final stage of the ToB goes to Greipel - Viviani may well have been impeded though!

Boasson Hagen seals the overall win, and I think Doull has taken third place overall.

If Greipel keeps that win, I'm gonna be pissed. He ran Viviani in to the barriers and Viviani was clearly the quicker man.

Greipel has been relegated - Viviani has a third stage.

Doull has been designated the most aggresive rider of the tour, by the looks of things. (Also the best British rider - obviously.) He also wins the points classification.

Williams won the intermediate sprints and KoM classifications.

It's great to see a Qhubeka rider win a .HC stage race. Also good to see Boasson Hagen back on top.

-----

Today will a huge day for the WorldTour rankings - the Vuelta ends today (up to 170 points for the top 20 in GC) and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal is also underway (up to 80 points for the top 10).

With only Il Lombardia left on the WT calendar (in early October), we will know which 5 nations are in the hunt for full-size (5-man) squads in the Olympic's men's road race. Spain and (maybe) GB are already there.

Spanish police retreive Simon Gerrans stolen bike, selling for 1% of its retail value, in a second hand shop: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/201...P=share_btn_tw

Carlton says security incident at Madrid airport preventing full coverage of the Vuelta final stage. The wet Montreal GP is available on line with 120km to run.

My head is spinning with all these City centre circuits.......

To be honest I have difficulty sticking with it if there's something else on.......really you might as well watch one lap to see the route, then flick over to the cricket, football, racing or whatever..........and tune back in for the last lap

We finally have video on the move - they're now on the final lap of the Madrid circuit.

Degenkolb wins the final stage - not before time!

Consolation prize for being the most aggresive racer of the Vuelta goes to Dumoulin. After racing a hard Vuelta, how much will he have left for the WCh ITT?

Next live cycling on ES is on Wednesday.......The Grand Prix de Wallonie

Belgian one day racing......hopefully there'll be some 'Murs' and a few cobbles

Sky are not taking part and the only Brit is someone I've never heard of, 21 year old Thomas Armstrong, riding for a Belgian 3rd tier team

Good to see young British riders going over to ride in Continental teams and get good experience with lots of competitive races

Probably impossible for him to start. As Richmond is in a different time zone, an exhausted Dumoulin will need a few days in the US to reset his internal clock. I guess he will sleep 14 hours a day this week and not go near a bike.

The leaks say there will be three ITT in the Giro next year (only 70km total) so maybe he could start planning now if they suit.

A few years back there was a regular exodus around the second Vuelta rest day so the riders could recover sufficiently for the Worlds. Not sure whether it is no longer permitted under the WT rules, or if they elect to race the shorter ToB as preparation instead.

GP Montreal is a washout with heavy rain killing race coverage in the last 40km.

Had my first experience of being road side for a cycling race yesterday in Norwich. It's quite something. The atmosphere really changed when the outriders all came through and then the team cars all beeping their horns etc. Really amazing atmosphere. And then obviously the cyclists themselves. I can't imagine how amazing it must feel road side for the Tour De France. Perhaps the same but multiplied several times. I'm not usually interested in cycling but I can see why so many are.

Another late attacker, another victory in Canada! Tim Wellens went ahead with Adam Yates in the final lap of GP Montreal, then beat him in the sprint to the line; both riders also just about held off a chasing pack as third-placed Rui Costa was given the same elapsed time.

Worth noting that two different Orica riders (Matthews / Yates) were runners-up in the Canadian classics.

With just the climbers' Monument to come, it appears that Colombia, Italy & GB have done enough to finish in the top-5 of this year's WorldTour nation rankings, which Spain topped ages ago. Belgium are currently ranked fifth and will hope that none of France / Australia / The Netherlands will overhaul them upon the conclusion of Il Lombardia.

I'm sure Eurosport have shown these Canadian races for the past few years

they used to have that strange sprint challenge where they had 4 man heats in a knockout format

maybe they dumped them because of live coverage of the Tour of Britain ?......tho' I think they've showed that for the last few years as well
