Well done Geraint........wins by 4 seconds

Simon Yates finished 7th !

That makes it 4 wins in 5 editions for Sky.

It's also a first-ever 2.UWT victory for G (ahead of Contador, no less!), and it lifts him to third in next week's world rankings. Goodness knows how they'd have been split if Wellens wasn't there to take the stage victory as the difference in bonus seconds between 1st and 2nd was worth...wait for it...4 seconds!

Yes, I believe they mentioned that on the ES coverage yesterday, but didn't have the footage of it. Great to hear he's going to be ok.

I thought it was a brilliant race yesterday, feels like the season has really kicked off now. A superb performance from Thomas to get back on, but Henao certainly deserves a huge amount of credit for his work yesterday.

Indeed they have.

Here's the full allocation of Olympic track berths.

This year's UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships take place between 17 and 20 March - the squad includes Kadeena Cox, who won a world title in the IPC Athletics WCh last year.

Couple of minor hemi-demi-semi classics on Eurosport., this week.

Wednesday - The Nokere Koerse from Belgium. First run in 1944, not a vintage year for international bike racing, one imagines.

Friday - The Handzame Classic also from Belgium.

What an end to TA:
Spoiler
Sagan is second (again) overall to GvA...by a second!! A bit like last year's ToC (which was also altered due to weather conditions, except Sagan won that); that's 4 times in a row GvA has claimed a victory at the expense of the Slovakian.
Cancellara tore the field to shreds in today's ITT; Dowsett was 4th (his best WorldTour ITT result since the 2013 GdI).

The UCI have published the qualification procedure for the 2016 Road WCh.

Specifically regarding the men's elite RR, the WorldTour Ranking has been replaced by the World Ranking as first point of reference - this means that good results in the three tiers below WorldTour will now have an impact on qualification. Cav wants a repeat of 2011 and BC are probably keen to qualify the maximum of 9 riders - to do that without the need for 'top-ups' from continental rankings, GB has to be a top-10 nation on 22 August and also have 9 riders in the top 300 of the individual ranking.

Some of the these Belgian finishes are not exactly the Champs Elysee, eh? It's like an international bike race ending outside your granny's house.

Victoria Pendleton has just had her much publicised ride at the Cheltenham Festival and did brilliantly to finish 5th on a horse generally regarded as a non-stayer who wouldn't get the trip

Outstanding achievement just a year after she first sat on a horse

Now MSR has moved to Saturday, there is a Women's WT event live web coverage on Sunday: the Alfredo Binda Trophy: http://cyclingsportpromotion.com/en/...tta-web-e-rai/

Not seen it previously so not sure on quality. Last year's winner was Armitstead who heads up her team again: http://www.procyclingstats.com/race.php?id=163779&c=3

What do you make of Cavendish's curt 'I'm not the director' responses (from 13:00mins) on DDD tactics tomorrow?: http://aca.st/0eb944

It's one of the big ones in women's racing, actually.

To be clearer, I was commenting on the quality of live video coverage not the race standing in the women's calendar.

Milan San Remo has just started (Finish around 4pm). Weather forecast for clear warming conditions with cross-headwind in the latter stages: http://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00...4?sp=ILIGURIE3

Last week's P-N winner, Thomas is riding for Sky today, and then starting the Catalonia stage race on Monday supporting Froome. He was quite active in the final stages of last year's MSR.

Tinkov tweeted UCI checks for bike motors at the MSR start-line: https://amp.twimg.com/amplify-web-pl...r=1&autoplay=1

Once again today, nearly 30 mins into the show of boring interviews etc before any live coverage of the Milan - San Remo classic, then after about 3 mins they go to ads!!

Not a classic edition of the MSR.

A complete unknown able to ride away on the Poggio? Nothing happening until well up the Poggio.

The descent will be difficult with such a large group.

Good finish though, looked like a few different winners. Demare did well to outstay better sprinters and puncheurs than him. Swift unlucky again.

Impossible to predict right to the end with Gavira falling off and Bouhanni suffering a mechanical. As a result of recent experiences, Sagan was predictably following Van Avermaet until Gavira toppled off in front of him.

Geraint Thomas finished a quarter of an hour down with Adam Blythe. No news yet on any injuries.

I thought Gaviria was going to win before he fell........in racing terms he was cruising on the bridle

Even as a newbie to the scene he's already looking like a bit of a monster.....
