Thomas came out of it relatively unscathed, it seems.

Like Sagan, Swift has been on a raft of podiums himself without taking a win this season. On the plus side, he's bagged GB a big block of points in the world rankings today.

FDJ look to be on the up and up.

Great camera work on MSR. I always find the Italian race coverage the best, they manage to spot just about everything and give slo-mo replays.
Poggio ascent seemed slow and controlled, but in fact was fastest since 2009.

Demare is being accused by two riders of hanging onto the team car on the Cipressa.

He seems to have been held up in the same crash as Thomas. At the foot of the penultimate climb, he was still riding in between the team cars, around 4-500m back from the front of the peloton,

Armitstead takes her third win of the season at Trofeo Binda Cittiglio

Demare's Strava data from yesterday was apparently deleted 10 seconds after it was uploaded. And now available: https://www.strava.com/activities/521963982

And again in Stage 1 of Catalunya - this time behind Bouhanni.

The British track para-cyclists look set to produce another strong collection of Paralympic performances as they topped the WCh medal table with 8G 6S 4B.

She's looking immense since winning the rainbow jersey last year.

Any sign of Vos returning to road competition and top form since her injury last season?

So looking forward to an Armitstead/Vos rematch in Rio if both make the start line in top form.

Vos was 10th in Drentse Acht van Westerveld a couple of weekends ago, then she won the Oud-Vossemeer crit a week later.

As for a rematch of 2012 - the Olympic RR course might be better suited to the likes of Megan Guarnier and Anna van der Breggen. On the other hand, the Olympic and World champions are great at descending, so who knows...especially as Armitstead will train specifically for that race later this season (I assume after the Tour of Flanders, which is her only other 'must-have').

It'll also be interesting to see how Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (who is also recovering from injury) fares in her quest to do an Olympic road / MTB combo.

The live coverage is underway on the Bike channel with 97K to go

Looks like quite a few of the 'named' climbs from the Tour of Flanders are on today's route

Be interesting to see how Gaviria gets on......it's his first race in Belgium

If anyone is watching......who's the commentator ?........I missed the beginning but the voice is familiar. ........in fact very familiar, but I can't put a name to it.......

Judging by this comment of theirs...
Quote:
“Thank you for watching our test feed. Stay subscribed for more from BIKE.”

...it's possible they've actually taken it down.

that sounds a bit ominous.......I wonder if they're 'testing' with the intention of making it a subscription feed

GvA tried to win solo, but he was caught as the sprint started with Jens Debusschere claiming victory. Gav was in the mix but looked to have started early and just held on to a top-10 finish (Thwaites was 8th).

Stage 3 in Catalunya went to Daniel Martin, who now leads the GC. Froome and Pro-Conti youngster Hugh Carthy (riding for Caja-Rural) finished in the top-10.

Some interesting news about the Tour de Yorkshire...

There will be a one-day UCI-classified (1.2) race for the women*, for which the winner will get €20k. That's more than 10 times what they get for winning, say, RvV; it's pretty much what the men get for winning a Monument.

Furthermore, should one man win all 3 stages and the TdY overall, they will get...wait for it...€6k less. Pretty sure that's never happened before.

[* It starts in Otley - and yes, Armitstead will be there, albeit as part of a national team.]

Speaking of Armitstead, you'd think the guys running @TeamEngland would know what their own road race world champion looks like on a bike - a notion that's been disproved...time and again...and again...and again...and again...

and again.

The British domestic cycling season starts up this Saturday, with the Chorley Grand Prix. Most of the bigger teams have already been seen in action in the lower-ranked Belgian races.

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/sp...y-Grand-Prix-0

There will be the usual highlights package shown on Eurosport from the middle of next week, and on the website. The whole scene has been energised hugely over the last few years with lots of guys and even whole teams going on to full pro contracts, and teams are now even recruiting from major cycling nations like Spain & France.

Dan Martin is complaining about the quality of Spanish TV coverage not capturing (and some points completely missing) the battle on the final climb. Poor image quality and off/blotchy colour coupled with minimal, standoffish moto-cameras makes following the racing a struggle.

Security stepped up for the E3 Harelbeke tomorrow: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/...attacks-218179

The race hashtag is the less than memorable #RBE3H

I don't recall as much poor quality TV pictures in the past as we get now

It seems like every race nowadays we get periods with no pictures because of some fault along the line

the pictures on Eurosport are forever breaking up when we have them

Spanish and American TV coverage always seem the worst and French the best, over that last few years.
