Thanks for reply.

Wonder if there is any chance of it coming on later.

We've got fishing now!

Is it on the radio or anything?

Yesterday there were 2 aircraft visible on flightradar24 that were obviously involved in relaying the signal. Today one of them was flying earlier but neither of them are now showing.

The Women's Tour (which isn't broadcast live on TV) does benefit from extended highlights. That said, I don't know what impact today's SNAFU will have on this evening's highlights.

I'm calling it a day.........if it comes on now I'll just miss it

Wonder why ES can't switch to the Tour of Turkey which they've shown every day up until today ?..........it's underway now.

If nothing comes on there's a good stage in Romandie today on the Bike Channel at 3pm with three category one climbs. In fact I'll probably watch that even if Yorkshire is on

Doesn't look good...from the commentator's twitter feed. Really bad considering that a new sponsor came in specifically for this race. Huge crowds along the route as well.

Updates here. ITV4 now saying they won't be showing anything.

What a massive cock up. So no contingency if there's a problem with this one plane. Unacceptable.

For those who want to know the result before (hopefully) highlights are shown this evening:
Spoiler
Came down to a sprint after a breakaway trio (including Lizzie) were caught with 2-3km to go.
Kirsten Wild won the stage ahead of Lucy Garner and Floortje Mackaij.
Brits packing well with 5 in the top-10, including first-year elite Evie Richards (U23 CX world champ).

I find it surprising that with YouTube today I can get live pictures from a truck driver heading through a thunderstorm in the middle of Arkansas, but pictures from Yorkshire are beyond the technical capability of traditional television.

Noticed a news item that a light plane has crashed in Yorkshire this morning killing two people......doesn't appear to be connected to the race but maybe shows that conditions were not conducive to flying

Eurosport 2 will broadcast 15 minutes of highlights of the women's TdY at 1430. Sounds like it'll only be from the end of the race. :|

Not hopeful about that. From what I read on twitter, the camera bikes weren't even running for. May be wrong, though.

The french aircraft that didn't fly this morning is now in the air. Interesting diagram of how the coverage is done on that twitter feed mentioned earlier. No sign of the second aircraft yet.

Some quick highlights on ITV4, with the men's race to come.

AAAARGH!!! No coverage of the men's race at the moment either! Hoping to get some later. We are stuck on BBC-style blethering at the moment.

Well if their are know live pics by 3pm I shall watch football instead and wait for a tour that can actually show us something watchable.

We're in the 21st century with 20th century coverage of late.

The conspiracy theorists would have had a field day if they'd managed to go straight to the mens race on schedule.

I'd rather have had Gary Imlach earning his crust this morning doing a talking heads programme and keeping us informed, rather than a fishing programme and 1970's permed footballers. Poor management of the situation from ITV4, and not good for the reputation of the TDY in the public mind.

They've gone to yesterday's highlights, so obviously nothing coming soon.

The plane appears to have been in the air for some time. https://www.flightradar24.com/FGVLD/992076f

I have no idea how long it takes to get the network of bikes and helicopters linked up and working smoothly.

Gary Imlach saying coverage should begin in about 10 mins.

One of the two planes has been flying over the route for some time. The other one they used yesterday is now in the air again. Look on flightradar24.com and to the east of leeds bradford airport you will find FGVLD at 12000 ft. Yesterday they were generally at 8 and 10000 ft. The other registration is BN2P.

edit: beaten to some of that by cmq2. Apologies.

I absolutely agree. I'm extremely disappointed. I was looking forward to watching both races all day.

Somebody let us know when it starts.

Eurosport say the live coverage will commence at 3:45.
