Don't these idiots know how much adrenal energy they give to a rider when they shout abuse?

On second viewing, maybe he wasn't abusing Froome. Just cheering Quintana and getting in Froome's way. Colombian football shirt.”

Maybe people are demanding exclusion in that ( Spanish speaking) tweet, but in most of the tweets I've seen are in support of CF's hand off.

Anyone think Froome had played a blinder on the penultimate climb by making a big show of going for the mountain points (he was arguing with Mika (?) who expected the Sky boys to let him take the points for the polka dot jersey comp)...........and then easing up

So on the last climb when he went off the front they probably just thought he was going for the mountain points again and would ease up.........

very clever.......

There was no action taken against Contador when he lashed out at a runner on the Alpe d'Huez in 2011: http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/MSNBC/Co...6-punch-rs.jpg

Edit: Spoke too soon - Froome fined 200 Swiss francs for inappropriate behaviour. How many minutes does it take him to earn that?

Boardman said exactly this after the race. It's a genius plan and rather contradicts Froome's version which was he just decided to go for it at the top of the last climb. The big chainring also suggests it was all part of a carefully conceived strategy. So much for Sky being boring.

At the end of the day though Chris still had to pull it off and that crazy cadence straddling the crossbar at frightening speed with all his weight forward makes things even more unstable and dangerous. An unexpected touch of the brakes in the wrong place and the potential consequences don't bear thinking about.

Dave Brailsford said something like"they never saw that one coming, did they" in a brief clip on the ITV 4 highlights show.

Just a reminder that live coverage on ITV4 starts at 1pm today (Sunday 10-Jul-16), one hour earlier than normal.

Full stage live on Eurosport today.

Should be interesting to see how the break gets established

Daniel Teklehaimanot was the first to strike out.........he was looking behind to see who would join him

then ES went to ads......maybe there'll be a little group by the time we come back

Big breakaway, ES should know better than go so early to a break

ES seem to do this every day.......they start the live coverage then after a few minutes go to ads then come back and do ten minutes waffle about yesterdays stage, the race so far, todays route etc etc etc.......

just going back to the race now......

They could do the waffle bit with Jonathan Harris Bass after the race settles, maybe they have other duties for him, seems strange to tell us about everything that was covered by Ashley so soon

Contador attaque! Sky & Movistar watch and wait for now. Mark Renshaw, usually Cav's last lead-out man has abandoned.

Renshaw has abandoned........might make Cav's mind up if he's umming and aahing about continuing

presumably it's more likely now that he'll climb off

Contador's little attack dribbles away to nothing, but it leaves a couple of Movistar guys in th lead group, including Valverde.

I dont think Kiryienka likes the heat, noticed the last 2 days he hasnt done his huge turns on the front like normal.

I notice that Sagan is in the lead group today. I wonder if he has been told by Cav that if he takes the green jersey then Cav will quit the race. I'm sure Cav will not climb off if he still has the jersey, but will as soon as he loses it. There's a sprint coming up in an hour or so, over this climb and halfway up the next.

Contador not a happy conejito at the moment.

Dont forget it's a rest day tomorrow so I cant see Cav pulling out after today, why put himself through the pain of today only to pull out at the end of the day.

Like I say, because he doesn't want to climb off in a jersey.

Contador abandonne! David Millar has a lot of interesting things to say about it. Big team issues, according to him.

Something to do with him signing for another team. But it was known Porte was leaving Sky during last year's TDF.

The UCI were supposed to be clamping down on mechanics leaning out of the windows and servicing mechanical faults on the go. Always breeched the rules but still they seem to be able to turn a blind eye. The official red race car was just in front of Bardet.

Well Tinkoff said he was finishing at the end of the year, he can hardly expect his top men to hang on in case he changes his mind again.

Hopefully Sagan will have sorted himself another team out too

Apparently Contador is going to sign for Trek tomorrow during the rest day although signings can't be made official until 1st August

Looks like Mr Tinkoff has found out.........

The R5 Bespoke podcast did a good piece last week on the team discipline and dedication fragmenting as closure nears.

Sean Kelly seems to have got a better sense of humor this year, I was always indifferent about him but quite liking his commentary this year.
