Good day to join them, well enjoy some wine or other beverage that is.

As usual, people complain about how mechanical and boring Sky are, but nobody is even bothering to challenge them, everyone just sitting back and watching. At least Contador and Nibbali were always willing to give it a go. They can't just wait till the final Saturday.

An attack, finally! Henao on the attack, trying to force the others to follow. Hellish weather!

Froome goes! Only Quintana can follow!

More spectators need punching.

Cycling on water!

Froome trying to attack again.

Adam Yates continues to do a great job of holding on to the big names. Aru the big loser.

As usual, Movistar's tactic of putting guys in the break proving to be an absolutely blinking useless waste of effort.

Filthy conditions, hard to see what was happening at times with the picture beark up.

When will there be a concerted attack on froome?

Think that was it today, but like I said Movistar & BMC completely muffed it.

The grupetto finishes inside the time limit, so Cav makes it to the first rest day.

Does this mean it will come down to the 2 time trials, particularly the second one?

Looks like Froome is not making the mistake he made before by exhausting himself and the team in the first half of the race and leaving himself vulnerable in week 3. But maybe Quintano is also keeping his powder dry for big attacks in the Alps. It'll be a bit boring if it just comes down to ITTs though.

Tom Dumoulin had a great day today. And, judging by his tweets a less great day yesterday after consuming too much sugar. https://twitter.com/tom_dumoulin

Next GC stage on Thursday. http://www.procyclingstats.com/uploa...1464948913.jpg

Last time round with Froome attacked Quintana at 6.4km: https://www.youtube.com/embed/8e39EMkpTpc

Noticed that the Tour of Poland starts tomorrow.......a world tour stage race

Seems a bit unfortunate that it's been moved a month forward in the calendar so it now clashes with the Tour de France............I'm guessing this is so it doesn't clash with the Olympics ?

As a result it appears that there's no live coverage

He irritates the hell out of me! He never stops what he's saying to react to what's happening on the road. There was a crash in one of the earlier stages while he was talking and he just ploughed on and on as if nothing had happened for about 30 seconds until he'd answered whatever question he'd been asked. I find it very odd. I don't know why Carlton Kirby doesn't interrupt him!

Yes, the Olympics are why the TdP has been shifted to July this year; the Eneco Tour has been shifted to September for the same reason (and it fills the gap left by the later than usual Road WCh).

OPC have revealed their squad for the TdP - their first race at WT level. It includes a couple of Poles in Marcin Bialoblocki (ITT winner last year + top-10 in WCh) and Karol Domagalski (won 2 stages in the Tour de Korea last month), though most of the locals will be focused on Kwiatkowski.

Wednesday (and maybe Tuesday as well) should see bunch sprints contested by the current and upcoming generation of big names in France/Poland respectively, with a potential sprint royale involving the lot of them looming at Doha 2016.

Well, I guess they're doing something right if they've signed the likes of André Greipel and Michael Matthews for the race.

I see Adam Blythe is listed as part of the national squad. As a result, I don't know if he will be allowed to wear his GB champion's jersey (Lizzie may have had special permission to wear her rainbow jersey back in the TdY).

Joaquim Rodriguez has announced his intended retirement at end of this season. Though in Spanish, his emotion is quite palpable: https://www.youtube.com/embed/Z_KdaNeCVps

He has not won a grand tour (close 2nd in 2012 Vuelta) but for a few years was at the sharp end of the race whenever it finished in a short brutal final uphill finish.

Rui Costa wins the Henri Desgrange prize to being the first the crest the high-point of this year's Tour. He's currently leading the loooong (and apparently foggy) descent with Nibali and Sagan.

Looks like Katusha has been forced to take control of the peleton, Sky didnt look interested probably because it's a sprint day

There is if you're happy to listen to Polish commentary.

Back in the Tour, Boasson Hagen and Cummings made the break so DD won't chase and I think Cav will be happy to save his legs for tomorrow unless the break is caught.

Matthews is arguably the favourite in that group as Sagan did a couple of attacks (if not more) on the opening climb.

That's strange because we saw the Devil on the Tour this afternoon. Are there two Devils now?

No, that was what I meant - he was in Austria last week, in France today.
