I don't recall a men's omnium. I wonder if it has also been reduced to 4 events. If there is going to be a men's Madison, presumably there won't be time for a men's omnium. It could have happened in one of the non-televised sessions. Why are some not televised??

Here's a general arrangement of disciplines at the WCh and WC rounds this season (it doesn't include the occasional Class 1 event).

There is no men's omnium in Glasgow - for future reference, the format is the same as the women's omnium.

Two more good gold medals for Team GB's youngsters. Emily Kay in the omnium continues the British monopoly of that discipline, no matter how much the UCI mess around with it. And the young men's Team Sprint hammer the French, which is something no-one will ever get tired of doing.

So Tean GB finish top of the medals table as usual with 5 golds in all. Think we also got a couple of other medals, but the riders were not part of the main Team GB.

Yes, it was a terrific meeting for GB.

I enjoyed watching that for 3 days.

I wonder if BBC will be covering the Appledorn World Cup ?

Today is going too slowly. I presume all the flashbacks to the last two days are for the BBC which couldn't be bothered to put them on the main channels? This is what the absence of two Omnium events has made way for.
I think there's a limit "the head of BBC sport" Clare Balding, is willing to do.

They don't usually. Eurosport will be doing some of it, probably just the final day + highlights, which is what we usually get.

It has been a great day for France as well, what with long-time roadie Sylvain Chavanel (who is older than Wiggo, as it happens) and Élise Delzenne winning the IP and scratch race respectively. Including Team USN (Welsh Cycling's pro squad), the Channel duo have 14 medals between themselves.

As with most (if not all) of the timed events, winning times are quicker than they were in Glasgow last time they held a WC meet (2012) - the team sprints were no exception. The experienced Spanish women won ahead of China/Russia, who like most fielded their youngsters; as for the GB men - today, they've gone faster than the A-team did in any international meet (Rio / Mexico aside) during the previous cycle.

The men's madison and women's omnium were very close affairs. The usual suspects filled the madison podium, whereas 3 of the top 4 omnium riders were no older than 21.

Eurosport have got Day 3 of the Track Cycling World Cup from Apeldoorn, Netherlands on Sunday afternoon, as normal a mixture of live events and highlghts from the previous two days.

Also geo-blocked on YouTube.

Team GB is mainly the same as Glasgow, but Elinor Barker comes in for Katy Archibald - think that was planned before Katy's injury - and Katy Marchant & Rachel James will be going in the women's sprints. There's also a men's omnium this time.

It's gold again for GB in the men's team sprint - Carlin, Owens and Truman are one heck of a B-team. It'll be interesting to see how they'll fare later in the season (the Worlds are still 5 months away), assuming a good chunk of the big names return to competition.

Kay backs up last weekend's omnium victory with a silver (behind Wild on this occasion) and Chris Latham bagged a silver in the scratch race.

Both the women's team sprint and men's team pursuit squads just missed out on qualifying for their respective bronze medal finals.

I think that's her first individual victory in a World Cup meet. Credit also goes to Nelson, who finished just outside the podium.

At the last sprint, Stewart and Wood got themselves a bronze in the men's madison behind Belgium and Italy, so GB topped this weekend's medal table as well with 2G 2S 1B. Oliva (in USN colours again) was second across the line in the men's keirin but got relegated.

It was another good meet for the youngsters, such as Szymon Sajnok (POL) and Mark Downey (IRL) (they won the men's omnium and points race respectively); the fastest qualifiers in the match sprints (Sebastien Vigier (FRA) and Pauline Grabosch (GER)) are both teens and Grabosch even won the women's half-kilo with a world junior record of 33.974 seconds.

As for the experienced competitors, Lee Wai Sze took 3 medals in what she hopes is a sign of things to come at her home WCh.

Indeed...that said, those two voluntarily forgoing the six-day meet is as likely as Froome voluntarily forgoing the TdF.

Speaking of Froome, he's second in Cycling Weekly's 2016 top-100 list (no prizes for guessing who topped the list).

News from day 1 in Ghent, not something the BBC usually cover. The Iron Men of Flemish track racing are leading.

Saw a trailer on Eurosport this morning: Day 6 of the Ghent Six-Day will be on Eurosport 2 on Sunday afternoon. The Virgin TV Guide isn't updated yet, though.

I have this strange feeling that the last Madison on the Sunday afternoon will prove to be decisive....
