Absolutely brilliant, what a fantastic top 3, all showing their complete class today!

And wonderful rides from Porte and Valverde too, most supportive team mate over the whole Tour is definitely Porte, but Valverde did his share for Quintana today and then deservedly got himself up to 8th in the overall standings.

Have to admit though, nothing makes me happier than seeing Contador slip off the podium and Rodriguez take his place!

Top 5 on the stage today are the top 5 men of the Tour for me (Quintana, Rodriguez, Froome, Valverde and Porte), all in their different ways completely and utterly brilliant

This is a pointless TdF highlights advert - it asks questions Chris Froome has already answered

Sorry mate, but we agree to disagree again.”

Well when they're failing to notice the information that's clearly displayed onscreen, and failing to identify riders that are easily identifiable, then actually they're not sublime. I wouldn't criticise them if there wasn't something to criticise. Often they're good, but there were so many obvious mistakes today that it became very irritating.

But if them giving you inaccurate information is doing no wrong in your book, then feel free to continue in that. Me, I prefer to actually have information that is accurate and makes sense, which the ITV commentators sometimes fail to give. The number of times they called Contador Valverde today was ridiculous.

I literally cannot watch the ITV coverage because Phil and Paul are so abysmal. Have either of them mentioned Armstrong this year? For the previous 15 years they haven't gone 10 minutes without mentioning him... relevant or not.

Anyway, good stage. Really pleased for Quintana - he deserved that.

please just leave me alone to enjoy the atmosphere of the race.
you obviously didnt grow up with Murray Walker.

If you can see who they are and there positions then turn the volume off, as you are way smarter superior, and infinitly more savvy than anyone else around.

Having agreed with you , i reiterate ..for obviously you cannot read . We agree to disagree.

Glad to see the back of this forum now as you have just p*ssed offf the last two days of my fantastic 3 week tour on here..

Enjoy your one upmanship.

Surprisingly infrequently actually, they do usually mention him an awful lot more. They were at least being a bit critical of Contador's past at regular intervals.

I'm stuck with ITV4 as I don't get Eurosport, so I have to put up with it. It's worth it to see magic like today though, it's been a thoroughly enjoyable Tour overall

Good grief, my original post had nothing to do with you, it was a general comment entirely relevant to the thread, so I don't know why you took so much offence to it. I was simply pointing out that they got facts wrong, which is in itself a fact. Nothing I said had anything to do with you, so I don't really understand why you're telling me to leave you alone - you chose to reply in the first place!

Stop making mountains out of nothing please, this is a discussion forum, and you seem to be turning any post disagreeing with you, and any post you disagree with, into a personal attack on you, which is simply not the case. The discussion in here has been the same as it was before you joined, it's you taking offence to posts that are entirely on-topic.

And please watch your tone - if you get any more sarcastic, make any more assumptions about me or post any other rude unwarranted attack towards me, you'll find yourself reported.

I think this tour lived up to the 100th hype, a lot more interesting than last year anyway. Chapeau to the top 3 today, the best riders over 3 weeks finished pretty much together on the last [proper] stage, and no drug cheats amongst them, so cycling wins.

Amen to that

And chapeau to Talansky as well, his first Tour and he rode himself into 2nd in the white jersey competition and 10th overall on the last climb today!

Just a random thought, is there a possibility now that Froome might be willing to ride the Vuelta in support of Porte? Richie Porte could make a pretty good team leader, and of course the Vuelta only has one ITT, which Porte could probably make it through pretty well.

Or is it maybe a couple of years too soon to have Porte as a team leader?

All we need now is for Cav to win tomorrow

It's been a fantastic race - and it's absolutely brilliant (to me) to see the new crop of riders coming through and new names in the top 10. Lots to look forward to in the future. There's some exciting riders there.

Several riders did poorly in this year's Tour after a hard Giro (Cav and Cadell Evans, for example). Froome did relatively poorly in last year's Vuelta after a hard Tour. Riding two consecutive Grand Tours seems to be too much even for the best riders, so it might be better for Sky to opt for a completely different team for this year's Vuelta.

Porte certainly came good in the last week of this year's Tour and is a good prospect for the future.

Did anyone see The Devil or the VW Twins today? I missed them

Interesting to hear that Quintana and Costa haven't signed new deals at Movistar yet.(Costa is a free agent)

If Sky have any sense that should bring in Costa to replace Uran, and BMC should try and bring in Quintana.

But it's very likely that Quintana will stay put at Movistar.

I didn't see the twins, who i see most days, or the devil. I saw him on Sky News though, just after the stage finished getting interviewed earlier in the day.....

Phil & Paul can be a little repetitive at times, but to give them their due, they provide a consistently good commentary over a long 3 weeks.

If they make mistakes, I imagine it's because they only have a monitor in a small commentary box, whilst also trying to listen to the race radio (in French). Plus they're travelling all over France and working nearly every day for 3 weeks, and talking coherently for hours at a time is quite a skill.

They also provide commentary for other countries, so when Paul takes over every so often, I believe it's because Phil is doing a piece for another country. In the US they have quite a cult following. With all that going on, I'm not surprised they make slip ups here and there.

On top of all that Phil is nearly 70 - I'd be bloody knackered if I were him.

Saw Eurosport's coverage for only one day (as I missed ITV's highlights), and I was only to happy to return the next day. Thanks ITV for some excellent coverage, particularly the pairing of Gary Imlach and Chris Boardman (and how often do you thank ITV for something).
