Great spectacle for the finish, both in the race and the arc, I hear they're trying to bring that tech into the homes, making your bookcases shimmer and turn gold etc.

Quite sad to see it end, been with it for the past three weeks. Just not a big enough fan of cycling to follow the other races. And by the time football starts again, it will be forgotten about. Until next year...

Ah, that's a shame - give the Vuelta a go at least.
It's a cracking race.

And the World Championship RR looks like a very tough course this year, so should be a good race.

Congratulations Christopher Froome, brilliant to win the 100th Tour and to provide the best moment in British sporting history, his demolition of opponents on the Mont Ventoux especially on the 100th edition of the Tour. A superb display of grit and panache which will be remembered by generations of cycling tifosi. Chapeau! x.

The BBC are atrocious - their front page doesn't even have a link to the story about Chris Froome winning the Tour, but to a rather badly written piece about his journey to winning that seems to be trying its best to make him out as not British...

At least when you actually click on BBC Sport he's getting the headline prominence he deserves!

Decent coverage for tomorrow's front pages from what i've seen so far, not so much from the Telegraph, who focus more on the ashes  and only feature a small froomey

Froome is the lead item on the BBC News at 11 on News24

His win does seem a lot more low key than last year. Wiggo got a knighthood and a SPOTY... can't see Froome getting either of those.

Wiggins got the knighthood as much for his 4 Olympic golds and Murray would have won SPOTY last year if he'd won Wimbledon.

to be fair though..........Wiggo also got a gold medal at the Olympics and was 'the first' British winner of the Tour..........there's only ever going to be one 'first British winner'

Froome also the top story on Sky News

Haha I wonder do the BBC read forums, Froome is now the lead story in the Sports headlines on the front page!

I guess so. In Froome's favour is that he's much more likely to win a few more grand tours than Wiggins is.

Absolutely, and hopefully that remains the case when the route is announced.

Such a classy speech on the podium as well, especially the last bit: "This is one yellow jersey that will stand the test of time."

So, apparently Cycling News forum being down was due to a ''forum software upgrade''. It's been a few days and it's still down....what a time

How do you mean? why isn't he in the tour, or why isn't he here or elsewhere commenting/celebrating?

Some real horror stories emerging of 'fans' attempting to attack Froome on stage 20, the Sky cars getting pelted with eggs and water thrown through the windows. There's even a video on Youtube of a Sky car having stopped and the crew seemingly attacked.

It always felt like we could have been seconds from disaster. Obviously it always is, but especially this year in re to Froome/Sky.

I noticed the boo's for Sky were getting louder and more widespread. Worrying for next year if they continue to do so well..

does anyone know what Cav said in his interview?

It always seems so strange that the fans are allowed to practically get in the faces, and touch the riders, and put them off, there should be none of that allowed, let the riders ride I say.

One day I could see an unfriendly face being pushed off his bike, which would be a disgrace, it almost happened to Froome here, but he pushed the stupid, stupid person out of the way.

It would be impossible to police. Most stages are over 200km and the race runs for three weeks. The big climbs have been like this now for many years, it's just something the riders have to cope with.

Nothing controversial - just said it was a very fast sprint, and he thought he was in the right position to win as they turned in. He said Greipel's position meant he had to go round him to the right which carried him on to the roughest part of the road.

Didn't trot out any excuses, and paid tribute to Kittel. He did make the point that he's done a lot of racing this year already and he's feeling pretty tired.
